I can't find any reference to "latex rubber" - the Army manual says it's used for interlinings; Fairchild's Dictionary of textiles (first defininition) says it's a heavily starched cotton with a plain calendared finish, used for interlinings in men's and boy's clothing. MW Third unabridged says a "stiff" plain weave cotton used for interlinings. OED just has "A stout make of calico" with citations to the 19th century, which is Fairchild's third definition. |
