A few of the main characters from My Hero Academia. From left to right: Tenya Iida, Ochako Uraraka, Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Katsuki "Kacchan" Bakugo and Shōto Todoroki.

The My Hero Academia manga and anime series features a vast world with an extensive cast of characters created by Kōhei Horikoshi. The series takes place in a fictional world where, currently, more than 80% of the Earth's population possesses some form of superhuman ability, commonly referred to as "Quirks;” the appearance of these abilities has given rise to not only professional heroes, but also the threat of villains.

U.A. High School

Eventually, Izuku finds out that One for All contains the quirks of the previous users [3]While he initially disliked being called "Deku", Izuku is inspired by Ochaco's assumption that it was based on the word dekiru (できる, to be able to/to be capable of) to embrace the moniker and ultimately adopts it as his Hero name.
