Raja Pratapwant Vithal Sundar was the Diwan or the Prime Minister of Hyderabad during the reign of Nizam Ali Khan (Asaf Jah II) from 8 July 1762 until his death in 10 August 1763. When Nizam Ali Khan was appointed as Subedar of the Deccan in 8 July 1762 he appointed Vithal Sunder as his Diwan (Prime Minister) and conferred upon him the title Raja Pratapwant.[1] Vithal Sunder belongs to Deshastha Brahmin community of Maharashtra.[2][3][4][5] Vithal Sundar is noted as the Commander-in-chief on the side of Nizam's for the Battle of Rakshasbhuvan. Vitthal Sundar died in the famous Battle of Rakshasbhuvan on 10 August 1765. [6]
