Camp El Tesoro is a 223-acre (0.90 km2) year-round overnight camp located in Granbury, Texas southwest of Fort Worth. It has been accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) for over 50 years and its main purpose is to enhance the growth of campers (ages 6–16 yrs.) socially and emotionally.
History
Camp El Tesoro (Spanish for "The Treasure") was first established in 1934 near the Cordova Bend of the Brazos River, an area rich in legends and history. It has since then offered activities such as swimming, canoeing, horseback riding (for summer camp only), fishing, archery, high and low ropes challenge course, etc. Summer programs include resident camp, day camp, horse day camp and a grief camp for children that have experienced the death of a loved one. Year round programs include Outdoor Environmental Education, family camping weekends,day camps, homeschool programs and more. The camp is also available for group and retreat rentals.
El Tesoro is owned and operated by Camp Fire USA First Texas Council.
