Prod vs. Redirect

Thanks Angela for changing that to a redirect. Is there a standard way to request that? Or should I just do it? I know how to do redirects, so is that what should normally be done in cases like this? Originally I was told to request speedy deletes. Then I was told that speedy deletion does not cover that type of cleanup, and to use prod. Now what you say about needing to keep the history (which makes a whole lot of sense to me) sounds like the best idea yet. But the one good thing about prod is that it gives people warning to fix it, talk about it, or whatever. Is there a prod for redirect? Or does the {{cocktail-micro-talk}} pretty much do an adequate job of warning. Maybe with just a bit of a wording tweak to indicate it will become a redirect instead of outright deletion? I would really appreciate your input. I want to do this the best way possible, and there will be a lot of these cocktail-related articles coming up for deletion within the next few weeks as our cleanup project winds down. Thanks! --Willscrlt 23:27, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for responding on my talk page. I will go ahead and do that from now on. I think I will go ahead and update the template to indicate that is how we will be handling things like that in the future. I appreciate your input. Happy new year! --Willscrlt 23:40, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that you have redeleted this page that I just restored. I did this because I was approached by the creator for a reason why I had deleted it. The article states that the band are All England Champions, so I restored it to allow the creator to demonstrate notability, and I suggested how this might be done.

I know you are an experienced and careful editor, so I'm not suggesting that you change your decision (esp as I am a previous deleter). I just felt that there appeared to be a reasonable chance that the creator could demonstrate notability. jimfbleak 16:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restore«Biparentalness»

Angela, can you please rstore «Biparentalness»? I see no reason to delete it and I had no chance to discuss its deletion. Thank you. --Dejudicibus 19:53, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was deleted since no one objected to the prod. The term doesn't seem to exist outside of Wikipedia [1]. Angela. 20:11, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I restored the article per WP:DRV#Proposed deletions and proposed that Dejudicibus moves it to Bigenitorialità. Quick check tells me there is enough material to let him work on it. ~ trialsanderrors 03:03, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am as we speak creating the Sheffield Outer Ring Road article, and think that this disambiguation pages needs to be kept. L.J.SkinnerWOT?|CONTRIBS 00:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there is the inner ring road, outer ring road and inner relief road. Bowden Housteads Woods, Devonshire Quarter, Porter Brook, Sheffield City Centre etc link to or reference a ring road of some description, so people may want to search for it. I do not feel that this belongs in the dis:Sheffield, as that page is for several places/thing named Sheffield, not within Sheffield L.J.SkinnerWOT?|CONTRIBS 01:02, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They are two entirely difference roads! It'd be like merging the M1 and the M18 articles! Well no it wouldn't, those two intersect, the inner and Outer ring roads do no.
Thanks for reinstating the page anyway! L.J.SkinnerWOT?|CONTRIBS 01:18, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Angela - do you know if the legal dispute over the ownership of the Arduin trademarks has been resolved? Argyriou (talk) 21:46, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming request

Hi Angela ... Happy new year for you .. long time we havn't talked .. i have noticed that you are active Bureaucrat here .. so could you please rename my account from : User:Unfinishedchaos to : Chaoss . many thanks --Chaos 16:07, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some vandalism in Persian WP

Hello, i noticed that administrators of persian wp every time i add any information about mazanderani people they will revert it, I think they don't would like to consider people of mazanderan as independent ethnic, What can i do ? Adding a request to removing them ? Or asking for election to removing them ? since they don't answer my questions correctly and they even not answer, Also they add the tag for requesting references even in the articles which have just about 4-5 words! Please guide me. --Ali 09:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Raoul Weiler

No big deal. Admin actions are reversible, people seem to forget it and then everybody gets worked up. Thank you for noticing it. I wouldn't have deleted it today, I guess it's part of the ever evolving human nature -- Drini 00:25, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hivos

Hi angela, Do you know wikimedia foundation cooperate with hivos foundation in translation projects on persian wikipedia or not? Would you please take a look at this talk page? Specially recent topics. What do you think? What should we do with these low quality machine translated texts? Hessam 17:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this has anything to do with the Foundation. If it does, Eloquence would probably be the person who knows about this. Angela. 21:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Angela, the board will soon get an evaluation of the translators by the Allame Tabata'i University in Theran as well as by a second expert. We already have one evaluation that states that the articles are a translation and not an adaptation to fa.wikipedia, not machine translations ... well: the job was translation. When it comes to the layout - that can be fixed in good wiki manner. Well ... Thanks! --SabineCretella 22:28, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles you could help

Hi. I don't know much about you, but it sounds like you may be interested in women's issues or know people who do, so I thought I might drop you a note. Rape and Rape reporting are two articles in desperate need of improvement. Perhaps you can recruit some knowledgeable editors to the pages? Thanks. CHU

Hey Angela:

I just got finished over at [[WP:CHU}}, and I wanted to drop by and mention two things that popped to mind:

  1. When users ask to change username to fix capitalization or other issues where the new username is very similar to the old one, we have to do it for them if they are going to get it; the anti-imposter filter on new accounts will prevent them from creating something similar. For example, if I wanted to become EssJay, I would have to do it by rename, because the username would be blocked from creation by the software.
  2. We have two templates that we use when we close requests: {{done}} and {{not done}}. They used to be only a convenience, but now the archival bot watches for those templates and won't archive a request until it finds one of those templates; we used to have it done based on time, but since requests can often wait several days to be acted on, we found it much easier to have it archived when the completion templates were added. So, if we don't add them when we close a request, it won't get archived until another bureaucrat comes through and adds them. (The clerks don't do that part, for transparency reasons.)

Just wanted to point those two things out; glad to see you active over there again! :) Essjay (Talk) 10:43, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

I noticed your page has been vandalized a lot. You know you can put a on lock on your page which restricts who edits your page. Try it.--Sportman2 22:01, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I didn't want it edited, I wouldn't put it on a wiki. The good edits by people other than me make up for the vandalism. Angela. 05:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reliability of Dinosaur Articles

How reliable are the dinosaur articles on Wikipedia? On the Torvosaurus article, it says that Torvosaurus is placed in the family "Torvosauridae." The Torvosauridae link just redirects to Megalosauridae. On DinoData, Torvosaurus is not even placed in a family. I don't understand this. Benosaurus 04:15, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can't rely on it 100%. Does the article have sources linked from it where you can check the facts? If it doesn't cite sources, it might less reliable than articles which do. Angela. 06:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

appropriateness of the pic

Hello Mrs. Angela. How are you doing? I have begun a discussion on the Image talk:Sarahvulva crop.jpg about the appropriateness of the image. I asked Mr. Jimbo Wales to participate in the discussion because I felt the need for the opinions of the original founders of Wikipedia (I'm guessing he's too busy). I think that there are some radicals who mold the Wikipedia guidelines, designed to be unlimiting to the users in their creativity, for their own purposes.

I'd really appreciate if you'd participate in the discussion, or comment. And if you think that the image is appropriate, could you still read what I have written? I believe they sound pretty convincing. Thank you so much! (Wikimachine 22:09, 13 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]
