Big trouble with MS Word
I have an HP Pavilion with Windows 10 on it. I also have MS Office which I use mostly for editing, that is I use only MS Word. It worked very well until about 2 month ago. I think there was an update and after the update I noticed multiple changes and the application became unusable. When I open files developed on MS Word before the upgrade, I see that the written text is now arranged in a narrow column centered in the middle of the page. The lines of text thus appear to be unnaturally short. The spaces between the lines are now in fact double spaces. There is no way to change this format with any manipulations at the top of the page where the panel with all the controls is located. If I highlight the Stiles square with "No spacing." the text I enter appears with double spacing, and also there are spaces between individual letters. The application does not allow me to change anything. It does not respond. When I copied a test line written in MS Word page this way and pasted it here to demonstrate, all the spaces shrank and the text appeared to be normal. What is this?
I uninstall MS Office and installed it again twice. It did not change anything. Why does it behave this way? AboutFace 22 (talk) 16:20, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- I suggest you first try exiting word and renaming the normal.dot and/or normal.dotm files. A web search for "word how do i delete normal.dot" will give more details.195.50.139.86 (talk) 06:28, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Does something like a Usb to bluetooth device exist?
Does something like a Usb to bluetooth device exist?
I am talking something like as some example, USB keyboard > this device > bluetooth signal > Notebook or another device that allow Bluetooth use. 186.212.164.232 (talk) 23:56, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- I am not clear on your use case, but yes USB to Bluetooth is very common. Here is a magazine article listing some: [1]. Google "USB to Bluetooth" to get many more. RudolfRed (talk) 01:34, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
USB to Bluetooth adapters are very common yes. But these are generally designed to plug into a host device, i.e. some sort of computer (e.g. desktop or laptop, mini computer like a Pi, tablet or phone or maybe a smart device like a TV etc) and provide Bluetooth support to said host device. For example, they could be used to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to a host which has a USB port but does not have Bluetooth (or an old version). While I only just glanced at your list, I fairly doubt it has what the OP seems to be asking asking for which from their description is something which can attach to a USB keyboard and output a Bluetooth signal to connect said keyboard to some other device with its own Bluetooth support (whether built or via a USB adapter).
I suspect theoretically you could do something like this with certain hobbyist devices maybe a Pi, but you'd probably generally get annoying latency. Note that this is likely a lot more complicated than it sounds since while I think USB HID is somewhat standardised, you'd still need to understand it enough to be able to connect to any random device, and then also be able to transmit the Bluetooth HID standard. Note that the adapter device would need some sort of power supply whether from the mains or a battery.
But anyway beyond the complexity, there's simply no reason for much demand for such a device. There are plenty of wireless keyboards out there for people who don't need Bluetooth and plenty of Bluetooth keyboards for people who do. And these are devices designed for such operation with built use of batteries (generally either an unremovable rechargeable one or one or two AA or AAA batteries). And the keyboards themselves are likely to be somewhat designed for low power which might not be the case for some random USB keyboard not to mention the power needed to parse USB HID and "convert" it to Bluetooth HID. (And I suspect the complexity is likely to mean even a specialised device by someone who knows very well what they're doing may still have latency issues.)
(In the audio field, there are quite a few different devices for connecting different things via Bluetooth but that's most commonly using an analog signal and there are reasons why this is a field where there's demand for a variety of different connection devices.)

- Yes I was talking about nil einne style of thing not rudolfred one. My one (and nil eine one) USB Hardware you want to conect at something else > USB to bluetooth adaptor > bluetooth signal > another devide that allows bluetooth, the rudolfred one is: Hardware with blutooth conectivity > bluetooth signal > bluetooth usb adapter > another device where you want to plug this bluetooth hardware and dont have bluetooth suport but had usb support. Also I just used usb keyboard as some example, I was just curious if such thing existed, also yes, the adapter would have a rechargable battery (or would require AAA batteries or similar stuff).186.212.164.232 (talk) 23:20, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- USB adapters don't typically need batteries, since they draw power from the bus itself. Elizium23 (talk) 23:28, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- If you want the "adapter" to be able to support any arbitrary USB device that is a lot more difficult and in some ways not even possible. For example even if you adapter understands the USB video device class and can somehow use Bluetooth to transmit this to the computer in a way that the computer will be able to understand it as a webcam, the low speeds mean most video modes are not going to function. AMD software
In my device details, I can see that AMD graphics driver, latest version is installed. When I try to update driver it says latest driver is already installed. The preloaded AMD software was not launching, and shows incompatibale driver, upload latest driver.
I unistalled and visisted AMD website, installed the proper software. They themselves detected the graphics card model. First the software worked properly, then after few days once again same message , "software failed to launch, upload latest driver".
I want to know as the proper driver for graphics card is already installed, then if I install a game that requires graphic, will the game work, or I need to have the AMD software also? 2402:3A80:1A48:783C:CCA3:7C48:5F79:5BF (talk) 08:32, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- What OS are you using?
- Software that complements graphics drivers is usually optional add-on stuff. It will typically have a widget that allows you to tweak settings on the card and get the most performance or appearance out of it. But it is rarely necessary for any applications to function.
- If you are using Windows, have you done any DirectX diagnostics? If you are using a pre-built PC, have you visited its manufacturer website? OEM drivers can be different, so it may depend on whether you purchased your GPU separately or it came pre-installed in a pre-built system. Elizium23 (talk) 23:31, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
windows 11, Laptop. all preinstalled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2402:3A80:1A48:D894:140F:426B:BFC4:D035 (talk) 03:15, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Your laptop's manufacturer should be the final authority on which version of the driver you should have. They should also have tech support available to tell you why the software was failing to launch. It may be the case that the error message was wrong. Elizium23 (talk) 03:17, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- As for whether a game will work, you would need to check the hardware/software requirements for each game and determine if they are met by your system. Your system is new enough that it would meet minimum requirements, but may also run into compatibility issues for software that is supported on Windows 10 but not well-tested on Windows 11. If you have interest in a particular popular game, you could probably find reviews or user feedback in forums somewhere. But you won't know 100% until you try and install and run the game. You may want to ensure there's a refund program in place, like on Steam. Elizium23 (talk) 03:25, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

How do I tweet on Twitter?
I have a twitter account I don't really know how to use and if for example my friend (just making up a name) Kelsey Green has a twitter page how would I ask a question on her twitter, how would I do that? How would I send her a message or tweet on her page? 2001:569:7D9A:1300:91EE:6F35:ACCF:8691 (talk) 04:12, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Normally all tweets are public, but nobody is likely to notice your tweet unless 1) they follow you, or 2) you name an account (with @) in which case they will get a notification, or 3) you include a hashtag (with #), in which case anybody searching for that hashtag will see it. There is a "direct message" option, but I can't tell you about it because I've never used it. There is no such thing as "tweet on somebody's page". ColinFine (talk) 20:55, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Your friend may have clicked "only people I follow may send me direct messages". (I think that's the default.) In that case, if your friend does not know about your Twitter account, you cannot get through to her that way. —Tamfang (talk) 02:39, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Microsoft Onenote update
I have an (old - 2016) android phone that has Onenote on it. Onenote has started saying that the app must be updated. However there is no update option within onenote and going to the "Play Store" and searching for "onenote" finds lots of things, but NOT the microsoft program. How do I update onenote please? -- SGBailey (talk) 20:58, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- The Play Store will hide apps which can't be installed on your device. Onenote is currently listed as requiring minimum Android 9, which was released in 2018. When they say Onenote must be updated, what they mean is buy a newer phone.. -- zzuuzz (talk) 04:42, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Banking website moved the login page.
My banking website used to be able to have the login username and pass, on the front page. Then, it got moved. Not to "bank".x/login, but,
https:// digital."Bank".x/prgw/digital/login/full-page?AuthRedUrl=https:// oltx."bank".x/ftgw/fbc/ofsummary/defaultPage
So on the front page, 1 must click "Login" to get to the new page. Obviously, this is more work or less convenient to customers, but obviously, must be more convenient for the bank. Any theories why that might be? And why does the login page url have to be so complex? Thanks. 67.165.185.178 (talk) 23:52, 3 October 2022 (UTC).
- If you save the login page URL as a bookmark, then efforts to view the login page are as quick and easy as viewing the home page. The home page usually includes marketing content for visitors and login page can include content targeted for existing customers. A separate login page allows more space to place login related content like Captcha, 2FA etc. manya (talk) 05:27, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

What is meant by this? Is this legal and enforceable under United States (California) law? What happens if I violate it?
