getting rid of the old Coke 200 redirect

PErsonally, since there's no other race named the Coca-Cola 200 currently on the NASCAR schedule, I think we should get rid of the old page that leads to the Nationwide Series page (I forget which one it leads to). Basically I was wondering if we could just have the Coca-Cola 200 (NCWTS) just say "Coca-Cola 200".Gaeaman787 (talk) 04:33, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

No, because there was a different race at one time. Its better to make it a redirect. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 05:15, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Good Article promotion

Congratulations!
Thanks for all the work you did in making 2011 Daytona 500 a certified "Good Article"! Your work is much appreciated.

In the spirit of celebration, you may wish to review one of the Good Article nominees that someone else nominated, as there is currently a backlog, and any help is appreciated. All the best, – Quadell (talk)

Thanks for the congratulations. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 21:07, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Atlanta 200

Why is there a race on the Truck Series former races that says the Atlanta 200 which was known as the EZ-GO 200? WayneSlam 19:35, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Is it a discontinued race? -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 19:47, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
It is put there. The same article has been mentioned as a former race and a current race. The Atlanta race this is year not brand new. There is no reference that says it's an inaugural race. WayneSlam 19:49, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
They are two separate races from what they say. One is the spring race, and one was the fall race. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 19:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
But why are there two former Atlanta races if the Trucks still go to Atlanta? WayneSlam 20:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
I removed the Atlanta 200 from the previous races template. It seems that the reason, the other Atlanta article has the sponsor name is because the current race on the schedule does not have a sponsor.
Thanks. WayneSlam 21:31, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Shouldn't there be a section about what has Travis Pastrana done in NASCAR on his page? WayneSlam 22:37, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

There should be, but he hasn't made his Nationwide Series debut yet has he? -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 02:43, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
He will make his debut at Indianapolis this upcoming weekend. WayneSlam 21:34, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
I would wait until after the race then before you state anything. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 22:02, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Help needed

Hi. I hope you could help me. I updated {{Infobox NASCAR driver}} code so that |image= works with bare filenames like the vast majority of infoboxes. Many infoboxes still use the old style. Could you also help in stripping the filenames in this parameter? -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:59, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello. You should be able to do it somehow with AWB, but I don't know how to. I'll be able to help you once I fix some other problems with the infoboxes. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 14:11, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Expand some articles

Could you please expand the following articles: 2011 Samsung Mobile 500 and 2011 Aaron's 499? WayneSlam 00:11, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

If I have time. I hopefully will feel like expanding the Brickyard 400 like the Daytona 500. Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 00:24, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Question

With the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series not going to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and Nashville Superspeedway anymore, should I move the Truck and Nationwide events to the Former section on the Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and the Current races section or wait until the NASCAR season is finished? WayneSlam 00:40, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

We don't normally merge the articles together. I would keep them as their own separate articles. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 01:48, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm not talking about move as in merging, I'm talking about move as putting it in another section. WayneSlam 01:07, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I still dislike the idea. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 01:39, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Driver History?

Some drivers who have raced for more than 10 seasons are getting extremely long "Cup Series career" sections. Should we make a new Article and separate the complete race by race commentary into another article like split Jeff Gordon into Jeff Gordon Cup Series career?--intelatitalk 20:25, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Good question; I'm not really for or against it. It may help you to ask Royalbroil since he is another major editor to WP:NASCAR. The only driver who had a super-long career was Richard Petty, and he doesn't have a separate article. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 21:19, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
If I (we) Do split the article, what should we put on the main driver page? The season stats for each year? A brief plot of the season..., and how should we start the new article, Something like "Jeff Gordon has won the Sprint cup four times. After 19 seasons he has 85 wins..."--intelatitalk 21:36, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
On the main driver's article, I would just put a short summary, maybe 3-4 paragraphs. On the sub-page, I would probably have the years broke down in to five years per section, then for the introduction have a a summary of the entire subpage. One good introduction would be when he started his career, then you could go into more detail. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 00:46, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Urgent; Nascar, please shut down the bot and have it run the updated message. Consider this an official notice, since there are legal ramifications. Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:05, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Just to clarify, by the way - this is in no way Kudpung's fault :). Howie and I forgot to CC him into the email to counsel, so some lines of communication got dropped and the message went out unapproved. Our screwup, not his. Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:54, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Okay, MessageDeliveryBot has apparently choked. Don't worry about running the rest of the list - I'll do it myself with AWB. Thanks for all your help so far; it's appreciated :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 16:46, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

co-primary sponsors

Just a question, but other sites have the co-primary sponsored drivers listed with slashes instead of commas. Like Mobil 1/Office Depot. So is it a wikipedia thing that we're doing commas?Gaeaman787 (talk) 10:48, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

I just read WP:SLASH, and it states, An unspaced slash may be used: where a slash occurs in a phrase widely used outside Wikipedia, and a different construction would be inaccurate, unfamiliar, or ambiguous. So maybe I should revert the changes. -- Nascar1996(TalkContribs) 16:23, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
