ICHTHUS

January 2012

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Ichthus! It is our hope that this will be a worthwhile source of news for people interested in what is happening with WikiProject Christianity, including her subprojects and workgroups. The name, Ichthys, means fish in the Greek language, and has been used to represent Christianity since the times of the Early Church. Ichthus is the successor to the long running WikiProject Christianity newsletter, run under the WikiProject Christianity’s Outreach department. As such, you will continue to see information about our latest featured and good articles, DYKs, as well as new members who have joined our project. You might also see links to Christianity related news from the mainstream media!

With that, I wish you all happy reading!

Anupam, Editor

P.S. Please click here to add the new Christianity-related topics Noticeboard to your watchlist to follow the latest discussions relevant to WikiProject Christianity and subprojects.

What are You Doing for Lent?

In Western Christianity, the season of Lent began yesterday on 22 February 2012, Ash Wednesday. In Eastern Christianity, Clean Monday will begin the season of Great Lent on 27 February 2012. The season is traditionally marked by fasting and other observances. We would like to know, "What are You Doing For Lent?" The best response will win a special, shiny barnstar! Post replies at the Newroom here. If you are still thinking about a Lenten sacrifice, consider reading a daily Lenten devotional.

Spotlight on WikiProject Catholicism

Ichthus will spotlight a different subproject or workgroup of WikiProject Christianity. This edition will spotlight WikiProject Catholicism, which has a plethora of featured articles and featured images. This subproject has 396 members!

Currently, the article on Cuthbert Tunstall needs to copyedited. However, the task of improving the article on the Blessed Virgin Mary has been completed! Current article requests include the Altar Society and the American Board of Catholic Missions. Feel free to help out in these areas! Congratulations to all the individuals that have made this subproject a success!
