Copy-pasting text into a draft

[edit]

Hi, thanks for writing up Anne Ruggles Gere! I see that you first created this article in your user sandbox, and then copied it over to a new draft article. I don't think there's a rule against this per se, but it's much better to either create the page in draftspace in the first place, or create it in your userspace (as you did) and then use the page move function to move it to draftspace/articlespace when you're ready. This way, you preserve your edit history and all your edit summaries. -- asilvering (talk) 02:34, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing the article, and thank you for this excellent suggestion. In the future, I will use the move function to move from my sandbox to a draftspace/articlespace. Ja Godfrey (talk) 18:56, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your first article

[edit]

Congratulations, Ja Godfrey, on Anne Ruggles Gere. If you intend to write more biographies of women, you might find it useful to become a member of WikiProject Women in Red where we are trying to chip away at the gender gap on Wikipedia. Another option for creating new drafts is to use your user space, naming the draft User:Ja Godfrey/article title. This will leave your sandbox free for other things and will allow you to work on as many new drafts as you like. It will also make it easier for other contributors to see what you are working on. Please let me know if you encounter any problems. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:52, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
