Chicken riggies is just a recipe. I am just trying to define what the dish is. I am not promoting a specific company. I am just explaining where the dish comes from and also an example of a recipe of it. I listed websites to back up my claims. What needs to be altered to keep it up?

It should be noted that Wikipedia is not a how-to guide. Most of this article is how to make chicken riggies. Useight 05:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It has been imported to en.wb; please remove the recipe content and make this an encyclopedia article. Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 22:47, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a spedy deletion candidate

[edit]

Hi! This is definitely not a speedy deletion candidate. A little Google searching shows that this is a well-known regional dish, and important enough that somebody did at least one TV show about it. I agree the article could be improved. As to the best way to do the article, I'd take a look at some other regional food articles, like Pasty or San Francisco burrito or Chicago-style pizza. Hope that helps, and feel free to drop me a note if you have questions. William Pietri 10:37, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I have added a {{cleanup}} tag to the article. Yes, I am aware of WP:SOFIXIT, but I only have a few minutes before class. Useight 16:19, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

pov

[edit]

two lines of this article:

It is a delicious concoction consisting of a variety of hearty ingredient this dish will definitely keep you warm during those blustery, Central New York winters.

are POV and sound like a promotional article rather then an encyclopedia article I have looked at a lot of culinary wikipedia articles and have never seen statements like these in any one of them..

I don't think a dish specific to one area of a state is notable. And the chances that three guys from Utica were the first to combine chicken with rigatoni is pretty small. The uticadailynews website seems to be down. DJ Clayworth (talk) 14:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be an awful lot of news coverage about the dish [1] and even a festival of sorts in celebration of it. I've never had it, but it seems interesting. Lots of dishes start in one place and spread from there. ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:27, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is total BS from Utica

[edit]

This whole article is questionable. Can someone just do Wikipedia a favor and dump the whole thing?

This is a small regional variant of rigatoni that's all. People from Utica NY and the surrounding area are culturally very very braggadocios and self promotional. Read the Utica Wikipedia article and you will see that there is something wrong there, and the people like to "adopt" numerous foods as their concoctions but if you look for proof you always find they didn't create it.

This is most often done by Central New Yorkers who are out to promote their rust belt decayed city as a "cultural food capital" with a heavy emphasis on the Italian.

Some examples are "Utica Greens" and "Utica Greens Morelli" which is literally nothing more than Greens Escarole and I think cheese to make it "different".

Next we have the infamous "Utica Tomato Pie" which the whole city hangs its hat on along with "Half-Moons" their renamed version of New York City "Black and White" cookies.

Each of the above examples is seen in their wiki page along with MUMEROUS other "inventions" and claims and naming of totally unknown local "celebrities" nobody past Herkimer has ever heard of.

These rumors are usually stated by loacl businessmen and the corrupt upstate NY politicians so they can sell the area as some mecca of awesomeness despite a 30 year liberal carbon copy of Detroit and beyond. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 32.143.241.218 (talk) 10:59, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Editor(s) have injected biased opinions into the related articles of Utica, New York over the years, including this one. Therefore, the article isn't neutral. Buffaboy talk 14:04, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regional Difference Note

[edit]

It seems that this article should be deleted completely as well as the "Utica Greens" one. Each are no more than regional differences of much more well-known preparations. That seems to be the way many food articles here on WP handle this kind of issue with a "Regional Differences" segment in the article under the real dish. These all sound like regional promotions and that's not what WP is for. Do people who just want to know what it is need lists of the contests and which restaurant won? This is pomp and its weird here. Like unknown bands that have WP pages that get out of hand and other regional promotion activities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:AC02:2800:DDA8:7EF8:1C6A:C412 (talk) 01:23, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This and "Utica Greens" need to be filed under "Regional Variants". These are well-known historic recipes.
