Speedy

[edit]

Was cleaning out CSD, and instead of deleting this, I rewrote it so that it's not listing his credits a la IMDB, which must be what made nominator say it was a copyvio, since the lead was not found on IMDB. --plange 06:24, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth

[edit]

Notice continued Vandalism, someone is trying to make this great actor of our times 8 years old when he was a senior in High School! Please help, I'm quite a newbie wikipedian... User:ptuminaro 13:41, 15 March 2009

For quite some time now, some anonymous IPs have been altering the article to show Glienna's year of birth as 1973. However, neither this nor the current one (1963) have been cited to reliable sources, and honestly I can't find anything reliable which supports either. As this is a BLP, it would be nice to have it correct. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 19:42, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've now gone as far as to remove the mentions of Glienna's date of birth, as we don't have a reliable source to establish it. As this is a biography of a living person, we must strive to get the facts correctly for this article, and barring a reliable source for his date of birth, nothing is better than something. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 04:16, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to obtain birth notice (news paper or birth certificate) and also high school graduation source material, scan them and add them to wikipedia to put this to bed. Is this something I can do? Please let me know! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ptuminaro (talkcontribs) 05:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Something that was published is a pretty basic requirement, so a birth announcement is OK... birth certificate not so much. However, as it's a pretty uncontroversial detail, we can accept a primary source (such as Glienna's personal website). A secondary source is of course preferred, especially if the primary source isn't available online. It would also be nice to have a secondary source to at least lend credibility to a primary source (e.g., an article that states Glienna's age at the date of publication), but this isn't a requirement. I suggest checking out the policy on verifiability for more information. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 12:29, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I endorse the removal and have indefinitely s-protected the article. A year ago, several people claiming to be Glienna or someone on his behalf contacted me and asking for help. They all tell the same story - there is a long-time internet stalker of Glienna who posts false information about him. The problem: they each claim to be the "real" Glienna and that all of the others are the stalker. If the real Greg Glienna is reading this, please see Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) for contact information. You will need to provide some sort of evidence that you are who you claim to be. According to [1], he made a film in 1987, so I would seriously doubt there is any chance that the 1973 date is real. --B (talk) 16:29, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've done some more extensive checking of any mention of Glienna on LexisNexis but found no reference to his age. That, plus some checking of Google News and Google Books, I'm thinking there's nothing left but to start digging through web sources to find something reliable. I'm not too surprised though; this sort of detail can be damn hard to verify. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 20:35, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

High School

[edit]

I can tell you that Greg graduated from Maine South High School, Park Ridge, IL in 1981. He played the lead in the school musical in 1981 - he was Henry Higgins in the production of "My Fair Lady". Hilary Clinton graduated from Maine South in 1964, and Mark Filip graduated from Maine South in 1984. (Their profiles are on Wikipedia) I don't know how information is verified on this site, but perhaps a call can be placed to the high school? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Winalpa (talkcontribs) 03:04, 19 May 2009‎

Greg had a film called "Spy High" that was slated for production by Bold Films and later dropped due to some controversy in his personal life (citation needed). PAndrewDorgan (talk) 18:46, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. BryanG (talk) 02:39, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
