Cover for a Damascus mahmal
Cover for a Damascus mahmal
  • ... that, on arriving at Mecca with a pilgrim caravan, the mahmal was given an elaborate fabric covering (example pictured)? "During the journey it was covered in simple cloths. [...] [t]he mahmal was carried with the pilgrim groups. Once it arrived in Mecca, it was covered with costly fabrics, such as brocade, and gilded decorations" [1]

  • This interesting article is new enough and long enough. The image is suitably licensed, the hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral, and I detected no copyright issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:24, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested additions

[edit]

Making a link to Talk:History of the Hajj#Many additions needed to record User:Bzzzing's criticisms of this article. As this article's main author, I can affirm that I'm not a Muslim and I don't have a pro- or anti-Saudi agenda. I've just summarised what was in the sources I've seen. I'm happy to be pointed to sources about the Saudis making the mahmal illegal. MartinPoulter (talk) 14:03, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good start. This link has a number of citations at the close of the article. Look into them and you'll find plenty of neutral, objective sources.
