AC Express trains are fully air-conditioned Superfast Express trains linking major cities in India. They have high priority and are among the fastest trains in India. Though some trains travel at 130 km/h km/h in some sections, most of them are restricted to a speed of 110 km/h. The food is not free on these trains, but the bedroll (pillow, pillow cover, blanket and bedsheet) is free for passengers who are traveling by AC Express. The charges of these trains are cheaper than those of the Rajdhani Express, Duronto Express and Humsafar Express (except Chennai–Thiruvananthapuram AC Superfast Express – with Rajdhani-type fare). Some of the AC Express trains have pantry cars for the required passengers. The first AC train, Nanda Devi AC Express ran on July 1, 2008, with a maximum speed of 125 kmph. Madurai-Bikaner Anuvrat AC Superfast Express is the longest-running AC Superfast Express of Indian Railways, covering total distance of around 3065 kilometres.

Suvidha Express

The Suvidha Express, also called Premium Express,[1] is a series of trains introduced by Indian Railways in 2014 for the first time that operate on the busiest routes.[2] They were intended to follow dynamic pricing in fares similar to those of airlines, contrary to the standard fare for one class of travel generally followed by Indian Railways.[3][4][5] Priority of Premium trains are above Superfast and Mail/Express trains[6] like Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express and Rajdhani Express.

Overview

The Premium AC special train from Mumbai to Delhi was the first train, which was launched on December 24, 2013 during the festive season of Christmas and New Year. The train's maiden journey earned 48 percent more than the Mumbai — Delhi Rajdhani that ran during the same period.[7] Encouraged by the successful run of the Mumbai-Delhi premium train, in the Railway Budget 2014, D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the railway minister announced 5 more such premium AC-special trains on busy routes.[8]

Features

  1. Dynamic fare pricing will be followed in this type of train, with fare being increased for subsequent bookings.
  2. Only a 15-day advance reservation period will be permitted for this train with no agent booking allowed.
  3. There will be no waitlisted ticket issued, and no modification of the ticket or upgradation is permitted.
  4. Only e-tickets will be issued, and booking is permitted only through IRCTC's website.
  5. There will be no quota for ladies, tatkal, etc., and no concession (senior citizen, disabled etc.) is permitted.
  6. Identity card details are required at the time of booking tickets.
  7. No cancellation is permitted with the only exception being if Indian Railways cancels the train.
  8. Vacant seats after charting will be available at the respective current booking counters of the train originating station.

Numbering

Similar to the other trains on Indian Railways, these trains also have five digits. The only change is that the first digit (from Left) is 8. Example: 82615.
