Mick Bolton

[edit]

Hi! I turned Mick Bolton (guitarist) back into a redirect to UFO (band) because it looks like he's mainly known for that band. @Zappafripp: pointed out that the keyboardist for Mott the Hoople and Dexys Midnight Runners is actually a separate person! Deletion discussion about Sal DiTroia

[edit]

Hello Anavatar, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Sal DiTroia, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sal DiTroia.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SailingInABathTub}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Kevin Michael Richardson into Kevin Michael Richardson filmography. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:36, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Anavatar! Your additions to Rick Westwood have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 18:39, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

February 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hi Anavatar! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Quill (band) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. DoctorMatt (talk) 20:59, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pete Willis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gogmagog. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 18:03, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Sapko moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Danny Sapko, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thanks for your contributions to A Little Loving. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Equals Strike Again

[edit]

Hi Anavatar, I've redirected the page for Equals Strike Again as I don't think there is enough sources for a stand alone article. Wikipedia articles require multiple reliable sources independent of the subject providing significant coverage to warrant a stand alone article. The sources the article are not reliable, rate your music is entirely user genearted, the WP:ALLMUSIC article does not have accompanying prose. I've only found this clipping online that might be reliable. If you have additional reliable sources on the topic, I'd encourage you to revert my redirect and put it in the article which will remain in the page history. Notice

The article Dean Webb has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable person.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 22:29, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dean Webb

[edit]

@Anavatar:, as you can see on your page, another editor has nominated the Dean Webb page for deletion. I have done a fair bit of work since you added content to the re-direct. I will try to put in a bit more as I know there's going to be a couple of newspaper articles about him. I have come across some that appear to give good coverage, but you have to pay to access the archives. Regardless, I will vote to keep it. And I believe at the very least if things don't go in its favor, it should be closed as a re-direct, thus preserving the history. I'm sure if I remember rightly, coming across a site that had his name credited as a composer for 5 episodes of a television program. I can't find it for some reason.

BTW: I don't think that Webb is the same Michael Eaton who was Eric Clapton's business manager.

Hello, Anavatar

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username InDimensional, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Jon Pousette-Dart, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|InDimensional}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Request reason:

Hello. Sorry for the response delay I have just come back from a short holiday weekend. I can't fully explain this, but all I can say is that I am not a sockpuppet. Sorry, but your unblock request is not sufficient for an unblock. I note that you deny the allegation, but this does not outweigh the technical evidence. PhilKnight (talk) 08:23, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
