Page is misleading, will rewrite

[edit]

"Gotjawal" is a generic Jeju language term for dense forest, similar to "the bush" in Australian lingo for "the wild". It's not one specific forest; pretty much every large forest on the island is called a gotjawal. Here's a map of four major gotjawal regions, some of which are subdivided into named gotjawal [1].

To back me up, the kowiki equiv article has this scope (generic term for forests on Jeju), so does the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture, so does the Encyclopedia of Korean Local Culture.

The page should be rescoped to match this. It also has a bunch of grammar issues that have persisted for over 10 years. I'm going to be mostly rewriting this article. 211.43.120.242 (talk) 12:11, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gotjawal ForestGotjawal – See above talk post. "Gotjawal Forest" suggests that there's a single forest with this title on the island. This is not true; there are a number of gotjawal forests that each have their own names. I just rewrote the entire article to make clear that this is a generic term encompassing multiple forests, and not a title for a single forest. 211.43.120.242 (talk) 13:32, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
