Notability/redirect
I do not see how the topic of this article meets WP:NEVENT, WP:NOTNEWS or WP:EVENTCRIT (#4). While the events discussed were the subject of news coverage at the time, per WP:EVENTCRIT (#4), "Routine kinds of news events (including most crimes, accidents, deaths [..etc..]) [..] are usually not notable unless something further gives them additional enduring significance
". The only "lasting" coverage relates to the subsequent court activity. Which falls well within the scope of WP:NCRIME.
Even if the events discussed here resulted in an actual WP:AIRCRASH (and they didn't), content about an airport incident is typically only included, within the article on the airport, if it was "fatal to humans
" or "involved hull loss or serious damage to the aircraft or airport
" or similar. As such, to my read, the topic here doesn't even have sufficiently lasting relevance/notability for inclusion within the airport article - not to mind sufficient notability for a standalone article.
Anyway. Even though, as above, it's questionable whether the topic here even meets the WP:AIRCRASH-SECTION criteria, as an alternative to deletion, I propose to:
- significantly summarise the text of this article (focusing on the drone incursions, resulting delays/cancellations and subsequent court case) - perhaps 3 sentences.
- merge that content to the Dublin_Airport#Recent history section (where, I note, we already have a few sentences)
- redirect this title there.
Other thoughts, of course, are welcome. If needed, and to prompt clearer consensus on notability, also happy to open AfD discussion. Guliolopez (talk) 17:02, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- Bump. It's been a week or so, and there haven't been any thoughts/input on the above proposal. If there are any thoughts/objections/whatever, please do "shout". Otherwise, absent any concerns, I'll likely go ahead with the summary/merge/redirect actions (proposed above) in the coming few period.... 20:54, 18 August 2024 (UTC) Guliolopez (talk) 20:54, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- Bump. Final call. It's been another month and, unless there are other thoughts, I'm going to (significantly) summarise the WP:NOTNEWS content of this article. Merge some of it to the Dublin_Airport#Recent_history. And redirect this title there. Perhaps using a "Drone incidents" WP:ANCHOR. (As noted, this title is classic NOTNEWS content. Of a fairly ROTM type. To the extent that, even if this airport incident resulted in a fatal accident (and it didn't), WP:AIRCRASH would expect that it be dealt with within the airport article. Not as a stand alone article. On that basis, alone, I don't see why we have a standalone article for these air traffic delays. And the subsequent/ongoing court case....)
