History

Before its establishment as a separate entity in 2016, TCIEXPRESS operated as TCI XPS, the express delivery division of Transport Corporation of India Limited (TCIL) since 1996. The demerger was a strategic move aimed at improving customer focus and operational efficiency. Following the demerger, TCIEXPRESS became a publicly listed company on December 16, 2016, on both BSE and NSE. Since its inception, the company has expanded its services and infrastructure under the leadership of D.P. Agarwal (Chairman) and ChanderAgarwal (Managing Director).

Services

TCIEXPRESS provides a range of express delivery services, with a focus on the business-to-business (B2B) segment. As of 2024, the company operates over 970 branches and manages 100,000 pick-up and drop-off locations across more than 200 countries, with a strong presence in over 750 districts within India.

The company’s services include surface transportation, domestic and international air express, e-commerce delivery, rail express services, pharma cold chain solutions, and customer-to-customer (C2C) services.

TCIEXPRESS is IATA certified, ensuring its compliance with global air transport standards, enabling it to offer reliable and efficient global logistics services. TCIEXPRESS operates with an asset-light business model, which emphasises operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The company manages a fleet of approximately 5,500 vehicles, serving more than 500 express routes and 2,500 feeder routes, with 73 air gateways supporting international and domestic logistics.

Achievements

In 2022, TCIEXPRESS commissioned the GIGA Sorting Centre[7] in Gurugram, India, which is the largest automated B2B sorting facility in the country and Asia, covering 200,000 square feet. The facility operates on solar energy and is equipped with an automated loop sorting system capable of handling 15,000 parcels per hour.

In March 2024, the company completed the automation of its Pune Sorting Centre, a 140,000 square feet facility, further expanding its operational capacity. Both sorting centres contribute to improved efficiency by reducing parcel handling time and vehicle idle time by 40%, while enhancing fuel efficiency.

The Gurugram GIGA Sorting Centre and Pune Sorting Centre have both been awarded the LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for their sustainable design and operations. These facilities are notable for their environmentally friendly practices, including the use of renewable energy.

Corporate Social Responsibility

TCIEXPRESS conducts corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities through the TCIEXPRESS Foundation, focusing on various initiatives across India. The foundation works in areas such as healthcare, education, sports, rural development, and skill development. A key initiative is Project Kavach[8], launched in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, addressing healthcare challenges within the nationally mobile community of long-distance truck drivers and their helpers. The program reached over 25,000 individuals by 2024, most of whom belong to vulnerable and marginalised communities. In September 2024, the Foundation inaugurated its first Jaipur Foot and Rehabilitation Centre in Lucknow, providing free artificial limbs, crutches, and callipers to physically challenged individuals (Divyang). This initiative, in collaboration with Jaipur Foot, aims to improve mobility and quality of life using modern, lightweight technology.

The company dedicates 10% of its annual profits to CSR programs, emphasising its commitment to social welfare and environmental sustainability.
