Hi!

I will focus on the history of Bosnia and the history of bosniaks, firstly because of nationalist provokative edits by croats and primarly by serbs. I will not write anything nationalistic and I will avoid my talk page.

I will soon write the entire history of Bosnia and Bosniaks so that you can understand our history and avoid all serb propaganda. Sadly it is only the serbs who are loosing because of their propaganda cause they lost croatia, bosnia, montenegro and now kosovo.

Anyway... I will also do some editing, however not like before, this time I will focus on the name of the cities in Republika Srpska and some more things.

History of Bosnia and Bosniaks

In curent day Bosnia, it lived a people called Ilyrians who spanned almost the entire Balkans and fought the most fierceful battles in Bosnia like the battle in Vranduk, near current day Zenica. When the slavs arrived they settled in Bosnia and because of the isolation in Bosnia, they got isolated from Serbia and Croatia and could because of that establishe speciall language, religion, culture and even a special country afte some hundreds years after the first wave of slavs arrived.

The Croats and Serbs later arrived and established special countries which they named after themself, Serbia and Croatia. While Bosnia was an old Ilyrian name, the name Bosona was a 2000 year old name for the river Bosna which later become the name of the region and of the kingdom.

When the first wave of slavs arrived they mixed themself with the Illyrians and they established speciall slavic names taken from the old Ilyrian language. For example, as named before, they changed the name Bosona which meant running water in Ilyrian and which the Ilyrian named the river that flowed from current day Sarajevo through Visoko, Kakanj, Zenica, Maglaj, Doboj and all the way to river Sava. The Ilyrians named this river as Bosona which meant running water.

When the slavs arrived this name was changed to Bosna and many former Ilyrian words and names were slavicized and one example is, except for river Bosna, the name Kotromanic which was an Ilyrian word that the arriving slavs slavicized and the Butmir region was known as Budimir and the name Budimir was direclty overtaken from the old Ilyrian language and when the turks arrived the name Budimir was changed to Butmir. Thanks to the turks there are now many historical evidence of the name Budimir that not only was a name of the region near current day Sarajevo but local Bosnian leaders went under the name Budimir too.

The mix between the Ilyrians and other preslavic tribes and the slavs that arrived before the serbs and croats can also been seen in the fact that the name "ban" which Bosnian leaders were known as was an old Avarian word and that was used only in Bosnia.

The mix between primarily Ilyrians but also Kelts and Avars made Bosnia and later on Bosnians a specific people that spanned the region Bosnia where the current day Bosniaks lived isolated between the mountains and this made Bosnia as a specific country which had their own rulers like Satimir, Budimir, Ratimir and Silimir.

All theese names are taken directly from old Avarian and Illyrian language and theese names only existed in Bosnia and Bosnia was later developed as a specific country, the oldest country with specific laws in the territory of former Yugoslavia!

This lasted until the middle of the 10th century when Croatia and later even Serbia for a couple of years occupied Bosnia and this was clearly an occupation of an independent nation. Despite this the local Bosnians kept their native traditions which they developed when they mixed up with the Ilyrians and Avars and other pre slavic people.

But this wasnt enough, soon more countries occupied Bosnia like Bulgaria, the Byzantine empire, Duklja, Croatia again, Hungary and Byzantine empire again until Ban Kulin finally delibarated Bosnia and made it an independent nation like it was before the Croatian ockupation in the 10th century.

Ban is like I pointed out before a word directly overtaken from the old Avarian language that was only used in Bosnia and now Ban Kulin become the second ban of Bosnia and the most famous ruler. He made Bosnia independent, made trading deals with Dubrovnik, established everything as a country needs to have in Bosnia and he called himself and his people as bosnjanin (Bosnians), this world was later changed to bosniaks, then to Bosnian Muslim and now as Bosniaks again.

This was a name that refered as a geographical name for the people of Bosnia, as current day Bosniaks and since the croats established their state and call their state after their people (Croatia) and serbs established their state named after their people (Serbia), the bosnjanin also established their state, however they established the state after an old Ilyrian word for river bosna and since the slavs mixed with local tribes near the river Bosna near current day Visoko in the heart of Bosnia they also took the name of the river as a name of the region.

This region become known as Bosna, slavic name for Bosona, 2000 years old name of the river Bosna and since they established a state they also established a name for the people. The name become known a BOSNJANIN, now known as Bosniaks, which was taken from the name of the country, Bosna.

Because of the isolation neither catholicism or orthodoxism had established in Bosnia and this made people in Bosnia, the bosnjanin, to established special religion which had heretical beliefs and later on they accepted the ideologies of the Bulgarian bogumils although the Bosnian version was somehow modified and wasnt exactly as the Bulgarian version but it still had many, many things that had in common with the Bulgarian version like the burial of dead people.

As everyone knows, it is a very important religious ritual to bury dead people and because the people of Bosnia developed heretical beliefs they didnt bury the deads near churches or in burial places, they buried the deads everywere. In the forests, in the fields, everywere. And this was exactly the thing the Bulgarian bogumils also did.

Today, all over Bosnia there are steccaks which shows the reality in Bosnia at that time, most of the steccaks was done by bosnian bogumils, who belonged to the indigenous Bosnian Church, Crkva Bosanska that was the state religion of the Bosnian people. Sadly, the Vatican didnt recognize this kind of behaviour so they send crusaders to convert the Bosnians to Catholicism.

Ban Kulin as stated before was the strongest Bosnian leader who made Bosnia and independent country and to avoid Crusaders he declared himself to be Catholic in Bilino Polje in current day Zenica. After he declared himself to accept Catholicism he continued as usual and most Bosnians did that too.

But the Pope knewed that the heresy continued in Bosnia so he sent a Crusader when Matej Ninoslav was ban to defeat the bogumils but it didnt go as he wanted. Proud bosnians defeated his army and made the pope to force pauses in the war and to reorganize their army. But again it didnt go as he wanted, proud bosnian resisted bravely the much bigger crusader army and after 3 years of fighting the Crusader could conquer most part of Bosnia although Matej Ninoslav a couple of years later regained control over Bosnia.

After this crusader most Bosnian kings declared themself to be catholic and many franciscans arrived in Bosnia to "teach them the real religion" and in this time many bosnians accepted Catholicism while the kings accepted catholicism in order to avoid new crusaders and to be recognized as leaders. But the Bosnian Church stayed strong as usual and the heresy continued all the way to the 15th century when the pope realised that he needed a new crusader to defeat the heresy.

This time he got help from king Stjepan Tomas and Stjepan Tomasevic who attacked the bogumils and expelled them to the southern Bosnia in the Bosnian region Zahumlje, now Herzegovina. There they got protection from the Bosnian duke Stjepan Vukcic Kosaca who got in trouble with king Tomas because he protected the bogumils and since he himself was a member of the Bosnian church.

Now the Bosnian bogumils found protection but it still wasnt secure for them and when the turks arrived they got offered to support the turk invasion and they got promised protection and security by the invading turk forces. There are evidence that king Stjepan Tomas said that the bogumils support the turks more than him.

Both queen Katarina Kosaca Kotromanic and other Bosnian kings accepted Catholicism in order to get protection from Vatican, in the case of Katarina to ger protection against the muslim invaders.

Eventually Ottoman empire invaded Bosnia and many Bosnians converted to Islam. At this time Bosnjak replaced the term Bosnjanin as the Bosnian word for "Bosnian". Since those catholics in Bosnia were bogumils before they had no strong religion and this made them accept Islam much easier. All remaining bogumils accepted Islam while there practically were no orthodox Bosnians in Bosnia at that time, those arriver later after the turk invasion.
