Unblock and welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Balloonguy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

By the way, I've unblocked your account, which seems to have been blocked in error. Sorry for any mix-ups. Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 04:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have been working on Wikipedia:WikiProject Red Link Recovery/Capitalisation/1. Please note that when you are able to fix a redlink on that page, you should delete the entry for it entirely. Only use the strikethrough notation when you find that the suggested replacement is incorrect. For example, if the suggestion was to replace Ice Cube with Ice cube (not an actual example since both are bluelinks), you would strike that out and put "rapper vs. frozen water". --Metropolitan90 05:19, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What

I THINK THIS ARTICLE Republic of China NEED MORE AND MORE PICTURES , SEE People's Republic of China ANDSouth Korea ANDJapan ANDSingapore , THESE ARTICLE HAVE A LOT OF PICTURES ,SHOULDN SOMEBODY TO ADD MORE PICTURES FOR Republic of China?

Please stop doing this when the city name is in the middle of an article title, especially when the state has already been separately linked to in that article. Postdlf 00:12, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, edits such as this are not constructive—they make the article harder to read, and considering the redlinks, no one is creating articles in that numerical date form. Postdlf 00:15, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop that canonicalization of the dates

It does not conform to wiki guidelines and it is totally non-productive. all you do is force someone to go through every place youve messed up and revert it. just stop it.The preceding unsigned comment was added by SnakDev (talk • contribs) .

New users, unregistered users, and users who are not signed in will only see the ISO 8601 dates. This can make reading an article difficult or uncomfortable. ISO 8601 is appropriate for some uses (including dates in references,) but should not be used in the body of an article. Please see Manual of Style dates and numbers #ISO date formats. Ref conv

Sorry for the downtime. References converter is now back up and running. About a week ago the hard drive in my server crashed. Luckily it stayed together long enough to allow me to pull all the data off onto a new hard drive, but I still had to go through the process of installing Linux on the new hard drive, installing all the necessary programs, and loading in all of the old data from the server. I got all of my essential services up within two days (CVS, Apache, Wiki), but I kind of forgot about web scripts, which I finally got around to fixing today. Everything should be fully functional again. If you see any bugs, just send me a message. You are receiving this message because you are on the spamlist. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, simply remove your name. --Cyde Weys 19:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be happy to send it to you, just send me an email and I'll reply with the source attached. -- Chris is me 02:28, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio accusation on The Divine Lady

I have investigated this and have discussed my findings on the talk page and will await your response before removing your speedy deletion request. Regards, —bbatsell ¿? 23:16, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a copyvio. The site you pointed to may have copied it form us, but if you will look at several other movie articles I have written, the layout and the wording are basically the same. I wrote it myself. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:34, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was in the photos to be deleted voting area

doing some business of my own and decided to vote on a few pictures, some of which were yours, or rather, put there by you. So I'm wondering if you'd like to vote on a slightly less (opinion) "no-brainer" than some of those you proposed. Check it out. Carptrash 03:04, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging images with [{GFDL-presumed}}

Baloonguy, I noticed that you tagged Image:-Colosseum at night.jpg and Image:Richard Copson.jpg with {{GFDL-presumed}}. The images were uploaded just a week ago. The template says This template is for legacy images and should not be added to images uploaded after 1st Jan 2006. Could you please not the template to images that are uploaded after 1st Jan 2006? Thank you, Iamunknown 00:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the League of Copyeditors!

Thanks for joining. If you're interested, check out the goals of our February participation drive, detailed in the Announcements section of the project page. Again, welcome! BuddingJournalist 00:42, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thanks for volunteering to tag uncategorized templates with Category:Uncategorized templates; it's much appreciated. Could I suggest that you create a bot account to run the tagging on, and apply for bot status so that you can have the modifications made to the templates by AWB automatically saved? Mike Peel 22:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The project has reached the quarter-way point for the work on the list of the oldest 1000 ("abandoned") articles in Wikipedia: 250 articles have been reviewed and updated!

The project now has 21 members. If you're no longer interested, please take your name off the list; you won't get any further messages like this one. On the other hand, if you're still interested, please consider signing up for a(nother) block of 10 articles to work on - if everyone did this, we'd be almost halfway through those 1000 articles!

Finally, please note that project approach has changed slightly - there is now a section for editors to place articles that need to be "adopted", or to adopt articles that need further work. This means that if you find an article in a block of ten that needs more work than you have time for, it has a place to be put.

Assessment from an article page

Thank you for helping out with the Biography assessment drive. Good news. Outriggr recently designed a script that will cut youf biography assessment time down by about ten fold (what took ten hours now may only take one hour with Outriggr's script). For more information, please see the 'assessment from article page' discussion. -- Jreferee 20:15, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uncategorised templates data

I was just reminded of my offer to generate a list of uncategorised templates, when I happened across your bot request again. Are you still interested in such a thing? Alai 05:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, here's the first 5000, to be going on with. Pesky software won't let me upload the whole list! Alai 03:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Make that 10,000. Alai 03:38, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not insert linebreaks after the closing </noinclude> tag. This breaks templates that rely on precise spacing, such as this one. –Pomte 05:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just came by to report the same thing. --- RockMFR 05:51, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Abel laureates tagged as uncategorized

Your bot tagged Template:Abel laureates as uncategorized, although it was already in a category. I removed the tag. --Berland 06:10, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot request

UncatTemplateBot inserts an unwanted line break in templates

UncatTemplateBot is adding a line break after </noinclude> when it updates a template. This is a problem because some templates are designed to be used inline with other text. The one that caught my attention is Template:AIP FR which your bot updated on 22 May 2007. After that edit, an unwanted line break was displayed in all articles using the template. -- Zyxw 04:44, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent bot approvals request has been Approved. Please see the request page for details. When the bot flag is set it will show up in this log. --ST47Talk 12:04, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Better code for UncatTemplateBot

I've notice that you've been placing the notice at the top of the page and not dating it. I've found it better to place the notice at the bottom of the template provided all the white space is removed. The following should do the trick. This code should remove all white-space at the end of the template and append the code right after the last character. You need to do this because of a bug in AWB.

Replace (singleline checked):

(\S)\s*$

With:

$1<noinclude>
{{Uncategorized template|{{subst:DATE}}}}
</noinclude>

You can even add a another expression like </noinclude>\s*<noinclude> to reduce the amount wikitext your adding to the template. The addition of the date may be useful in the future and I wouldn't leave it out now just to add it back in at some later date. —Dispenser 19:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know Dr. Hoagland, Balloonguy?

Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, but as a LoCE member, I just wondered if you would be willing to have a look through the Kent article. It is currently a Featured Article Candidate and needs a copy-edit for grammar by someone who hasn't yet seen it. Any other ways to improve the article would also be welcome. Thank you very much, if you can. Epbr123 21:02, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

db-author

The db-author template is for requesting the deletion of your own work only, not pages others have worked on. You can read up on how to recommend deletion at WP:DELETE ((1 == 2) ? (('Stop') : ('Go')) 04:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, sorry about that. ((1 == 2) ? (('Stop') : ('Go')) 05:05, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ATTCD

I don't know what you meant to do to my talk page, but you left it full of little square boxes. I have reverted. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping fix links to disambiguation pages. However, I would point you to the first "Rule of Use" on the AWB page: "Check every edit before you save it". Why? Because doing so would go a long way to help prevent the accidental deletion of large parts of articles when you only intended to fix a disambiguation link or two... -- simxp (talk) 01:30, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and Happy New Year

Firstly, let me wish you a very happy New Year and thank you for all your help in the Milhist Tag & Assess 2007 drive.

Secondly, although the Tag & Assess 2007 drive is now officially closed, you are very welcome to continue tagging and assessing until 31 January 2008. Any articles you tag and assess during this time will be credited fully to your tagging tally for further award purposes.

Thirdly, if you can find the time, it would be great to have your feedback/comments and participation in the recently-set-up Tag & Assess workshop The idea is to see what lessons we can learn from the 2007 drive to make the 2008 one more efficient and enjoyable.

Thanks again for your help, --ROGER DAVIES talk 10:32, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AWB fixes

Greetings, sir. Thanks for your help but one of your AWB edits caused references and infoboxes to be lost here: [3]. Could you help fix it? Thx. Octave8 (talk) 21:04, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
