A tag has been placed on Maavägi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Where Anne hath a will, Anne Hathaway. 19:03, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
OrBat graphic
Hi Karabiner, excellent work on the Military of Estonia and Maavägi articles. I made the Estonian Army OrBat graphic. You have removed it and that is no problem. If you want to add it again to the article, tell me if there are any changes needed/wanted and I will update/redesign the graphic quickly. best regards, --noclador 05:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Speedy deletion is NOT going to happen! Go to the Maavägi article - on the left site of the screen of wikipedia is a line: "What links here" click on it - you will see all other articles that link to Maavägi - an as you can see there is "speedy deletion link" and so your work is safe.
- In the future: to make a page safe from deletion, make as many links a possible to it - i.e. link to Maavägi from all other Estonian military sites 1-2 times and look for articles that mention the Maavägi and link from there too (articles like ISAF NATO an so on :-)
- and when writing something on a talkpage (ONLY talkpages!) and always at the end of your text - click on the symbol the arrow points to:
- this will sign your comment for you - like I did here: --noclador 16:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note. I tend to agree that there are too many pictures in this article. I think you could get by with half of them, or even fewer. The number of images does make it difficult to read the text. NawlinWiki 14:06, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Karabinier, good work on articles. But please do not tag the military insignia as your own work even thogh you might have made the images. The proper copyright tag for all such images would be PD-EE. thanks--Termer 06:30, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:ES-Army-uni.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:37, 8 December 2007 (UTC). Re: Estonian images
Hi! The reason why the images were deleted can always be found in my deletion summary:
“ | CSD I4: Image lacking sources or licensing information for more than seven days | ” |
This means that it was summarily deleted according to this policy because it didn't specify a source. All you have to do is put where you found the image in the description and it's OK. I can undelete these images if you have this information and are willing to do this. Please get back to me on my talk page. east.718 at 00:17, December 18, 2007
Estonian poem
There is already an article at Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm.
Wikipedia is not the place to put texts or other literary works. The Estonian version should go to the Estonina Wikisource. Please enter it here:
You should create an account at the Estonian Wikisource[1].
This is the place where readers would expect to find the text.
Regarding the English translation, it should go to s:My Country is My Love. Please read s:Wikisource:Translations first and create an account[2].
Andreas (T) 22:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Note that Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm is a national anthem and therefore a Wikipedia article could be justified. Mu isamaa on minu arm is mentioned in Lydia Koidula's article.
Please put the year the poem was created ir first published here: et:s: Lydia Koidula. Andreas (T) 22:23, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Of course I saw that the two poems are different. This is not my point. For everybody's convenience, I upladed the poem to the Estoninan Wikisource (Vikitekstid), you can find it by clicking on this link: et:s:Mu isamaa on minu arm.
I did not modify your text at all. The only thing I did to the page is to add the wikisource tag and a link to the wikisource article that I created (thi little icon withthe iceberg). I would also upload the English text to Wikisource, however, I think that is your job as you seem to be the author of the translation. If I am wrong, then please add the name of the translator. I think that you agree with me that all the Estonia literature should be at the same place where everybody can find it. That why the Estonian Wikisource was created in the first place. As a person who is familiar with Estoninan culture, it would be a great asset if you could contribute to our common effort to create a systematic approach to the world's knowledge. With best regards, Andreas (T) 23:14, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I want to invit you again to work on the English Wikisource. You should first create an author entry at s:Lydia Koidula. Look at other author entries to see how to format it. The upload the English translation of the song, and put "translator = wikisource" into the header. You should not put your name there, because we expect that others will ameliorate your translation, such that it will be a communal effort.
I still think that the English translation should be removed from the Wikipedia article and replaced by a link to Wikisource. The reason I propose this is that if there is duplication, it will be very difficult to keep them the same as other editors will pitch in and change your translation. Andreas (T) 23:52, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Article tags
Please do not remove tags put on articles unless you have addressed the issue. Wikipedia is a community of volunteers and we rely on courteous behaviour of all editors. Andreas (T) 22:32, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Wikisource articles
I edited your article in Wikisource. You should not put a lot of information about an author into Wikisource, this goes to Wikipedia. Just write one sentence about the author and put it into the description instead of 'An Estonian poet'. Do the same for other Estonian authors you wish to enter into Wikisource. When you have uploaded the English text (you definitely shoud do this), enclose the name of the poem in double brackets, so it can be accessed by clicking on the name. Upload your translation into s:My Country is My Love, and add the header template.
You should not put an entry about an author in Wikisource unless you have at least one work included in the database.
I noticed that there are very few texts in the Vikitekstid. Maybe you can find more classical estonian texts. Note that you should comply with copyright restrictions. I do not know what is the case for Estonian authors, but generally the authoer must be dead for at least 70 years. Andreas (T) 01:11, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
WIkisource
I copied your article to wikisource. You can see both versions side-by-side here [3] or by clicking on the double-arrow at the left at s:My_Country_is_My_Love. I removed some of the capital letters, see Capitalization. Andreas (T) 14:32, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Estonian kroon
Hi,
I've seen that you've added a lot of stuff to Estonian kroon and tried to make it like euro or USD. I just want to tell you that I partially revert your edit not because the information is false. I did so because of the guide line at Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics/Style/Currency article. Euro and USD have more details that don't fit with the guide line. For example, the euro is a multinational currency where many languages are all considered official. That's why it has a funny way of showing different spelling at the top of the infobox. Greek is not an official language of Estonia, that's why I reverted your edit. In addition, I see that you plan to create "Estonian coins" and "Estonian banknotes". The naming convention would result in "Banknotes of the Estonian kroon" and "Coins of the Estonian kroon". Precedents include Banknotes of the Czech koruna, Banknotes of the pound sterling, and Banknotes of the Romanian leu. Thank you. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 06:23, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Estonia has had different banknotes and coins - they ahve had also different names - for excample marks and kroons, sents and pennies. I think that it is not wise to create one big "Banknotes of the Estonian kroon" and "Coins of the Estonian kroon" as they would not represent the hole evolution of the Estonian currency. The name of Banknotes of Estonia and Coins of Estonia would collect all the currency types and names under it on the other hand.
- I suggest that we could add the redirection after words - but the main name would be banknotes of Estonia - then i do not have to create "Coins of the Estonian pennies, ...Marks"...
- Karabinier 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Your point is completely valid. As long as the format is "Coins of somewhere" or "Coins of some currency", I'm fine with it. It's just the "Xyzian coins" format that bothers me. In the past, there were Canadian banknotes, Philippine peso bills, and all sorts of formats. The Estonian mark and the Estonian kroon are kind of like the Australian pound and the Australian dollar. There is a Coins of Australia article as a summary. There are also Coins of the Australian pound and Coins of the Australian dollar because the information is too much to fit in one article. This is just my humble suggestion.
- Also, currency unit such as kroon or euro should be sentence case, not capitalized. So if you don't disagree, I will move individual denomination articles such as 500 Krooni. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 10:31, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Hm I didnt quite understood what you meant under the "I will move individual denomination articles such as 500 Krooni"? As long as you dont attend to delete the pages about kroons different banknotes.. :P Karabinier 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't mean to delete these pages. Just want to rename with lower case "k". --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 16:43, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

use of the otherships template
Certainly. The otherships template you were using has a specific purpose. As you will see, it says "For other ships with the same name see xxx". In this case, if there were other ships of the Estonian Navy named ENS Lembit (and I see from your user page that there were) then the established convention would be to have "ENS Lembit" as a disambiguation page. (See HMS Resolution or USS Enterprise for some examples). You would then disambiguate the existing article on the submarine by moving it to something like ENS Lembit (1936), and place at the top of the article the otherships template. This is what that template is designed to be used for, for linking to other ships that have the same name as the one in the article, so that readers who are looking for one of the other ships of that name can find their way to it.
You were using it to link to a related topic, i.e. the other submarine in the class. A link like this already exists in the article itself, and in the "see also" section. We don't include it specifically in the heading. For example, the British S class of submarines consisted of over 60 boats. If we were to list them using the otherships template then there would be an enormous list at the start of each article, which would be highly confusing and counter productive. The otherships template is basically to link to other ships with the same name, not other ships in the same class. You could also think about creating a class template as a footer, as another way of directing readers to the other submarine. Please feel free to ask any more questions, if any of this is unclear or you'd like some more pointers. Kind regards, Benea (talk) 15:47, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Estonia included one or more links to the pages Russian, German, and English, which are disambiguation pages. This type of page is intended to direct users to more specific topics. Ordinarily we try to avoid creating links to disambiguation pages, since it is preferable to link directly to the specific topic relevant to the context. You can help Wikipedia by revising the links you added to Estonia to refer directly to the most relevant topic.(This message was generated by an automatic process; if you believe it to be in error, please accept our apologies and report the error to help us improve this feature.) Non-Estonians
BTW, I don't think that 'Non-Estonians' in your edit remark is the correct term for "people without ANY citizenships". Normally, they are referred to as 'stateless persons'. N-lane (talk) 13:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Estonia and Latvia are exceptions on this scenario. It is due to the Soviet industrial immigration waves and ex-military personel of the occupation forces - of whom mayority left between 1991 and 1998 (Estonia and Russia agreement where Estonia had to invest money into new apartments for emigrants in Russia). In Lithuania for example there is no non-Lithuanian or stateless persons problem. It is due to the fact that in Lithuania there were never such a big scale Russification programs as there were in Latvia and Estonia. Also Lithuania granted everybody citizenship in 1990. Estonia and Latvia did not as only pre-war citizens regained their ethnic and juridically correct citizenship.Karabinier (talk) 15:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- To my opinion, 'Non-Estonian' = any person, who is not Estonian.
- So it's not about any scenario, it's about the English language. N-lane (talk) 14:43, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
To a foreigner it is very hard and also weird to understand the difference between these 2 person groups. You dont find in any other country such situation easily. If it were that easy and clear to everybody then I would have not made re-changes into your made edit obviously. My goal here is to broadcast in my edits the accurate and the most realistic picture about my country. That includes the difficult political relations with Russia and their so-called the 5th colomn (your stateless people). The 5th colomn is an unofficial state-level nickname of these people - including Russians with Estonian citizenship. The colomn stands for unloyal people who would start looting and supporting the invasion forces once a war again would break between Estonia and Russia. Karabinier (talk) 16:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's not very hard for a foreigner to understand that Estonians in the ESSR were also Soviet citizens (that's why I removed the connection between 'Soviet' and 'Non-Estonian' in the context of the ESSR)
- And I also hope that any foreigner would also understand that, say, a British or an American is a 'Non-Estonian' (at least in terms of citizenship). N-lane (talk) 15:11, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
The word non-Estonians have a position in the Estonian language and is regarded as a Russian speaking person mostly. Germans, Italians, Latvians, African X tribe people are not discribed as non-Estonias - they are called foreigners. This is how it goes in Estonia.
- It's very interesting. But we are in the English wikipedia here, so I think it would be more appropriate to apply the rules of the English language in order not to confuse English speakers, who don't speak Estonian. N-lane (talk) 15:45, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
In ESSR there only Soviet citizens! There were no Estonians - one big Soviet family - which aim was create to so-called "homo soveticus" - the Soviet Human whose language would be Russian and whose culture would be based on the Russian one.Karabinier (talk) 15:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Which, following your logic, means that the ethnic Estonians in the ESSR were 'non-Estonians' (i.e. Russians :) themselves. Still, you used the term 'non-Estonian' in the ethnic context (and not in the meaning of citizenship) when you wrote about immigration in the ESSR. N-lane (talk) 15:45, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Russification
Really "Russification only occured in the late 19th Century" and how you call then the 50 years of communism? Russification has been here with waves - during the period Estonia has been annexed or occupied by Russia, USSR, and some areas by the Russian Federation still are. The Name Estonia in the Russian Empire should be changed - as this title shows the voluntary belonging into the empire.Karabinier (Karabinier) 10:33, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Because the period is about Imperial Russia. Therefore occupation of USSR has nothing to do with this section. For most of the time when Estonia was in the Russian empire, German language and culture was more dominant than Russian language and culture, so calling it "Period of Russification" is absolutely incorrect. Serious Russification only started in 1889, only 29 years before Estonia gained independence. Martintg (talk) 09:24, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I was cleaning up the mess what was left behind by a troll. I will report about this user - RJ CG - who has been marked as a former vandalist on certain pages on certain time events (Bronze Soldier) who tries to bend history in favor of wrong details. I have left a message on the Postage stamps and postal history of Estonia talk page because most of the text is a simple cut and paste of the text from the Estonian Post website which copyright material. AfD nomination of Politicians of the Third Reich
I have nominated Politicians of the Third Reich, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Politicians of the Third Reich. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 15:34, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
An interesting suggestion. Yes, I am interested in a topic like this. However, I think that in order to keep Wikipedia consistent we should have a look at the existing country specific relation articles. Have a look at this for example:
There is Foreign relations of France which is dived into topics such as Anglo-French relations. There are no articles for every country. Besides Estonia, Kosovo and such are not the best-known countries. Kosovo has issues with numerous nations and there should be a separate article for everyone of them if there should be one for Estonia.
Have a look at these and see if Estonia could be included or expanded in some of them if it's relevant and is missing:
- Foreign relations of Kosovo
- International reaction to the 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence
- 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence
- Controversy over Kosovo independence

Image source problem with Image:German Reich-in-color-1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:German Reich-in-color-1.jpg.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Prishtina Coat of Arms
The reason why you are having trouble finding "Pristina's Coat of arms" is because you are searching for a city which doesn't exist. Prishtina, Kosova has an official website [4] and I believe the coat of arms is the Dardanian artifact, it's also at the top of the page. It's pictured here I hope this has helped. Hello there, Karabiner!
Hi. Regarding your changes in various Macedonia-related articles, please keep in mind that the versions you see, especially regarding the Macedonia naming dispute and the historic references, they are discussed to exhaustion in numerous talkpages and archives. Please, before making any huge changes, get yourself familiar with the consensus on those talkpages. Also, please take a note of the WP:ARBMAC (an Arbitration Committee case on the issue), and of WP:MOSMAC (a set of guidelines for referring to the terms related to Macedonia). Thank you. NikoSilver 13:41, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- The consensus is that he was Greek and that MAcedonians were Greek. The modern political issues with the slavic state and slavic people in the North of Greece is unrelated as they are.
- "fficially and internationally recognized by both sides" is this some sort of joke?Megistias (talk) 12:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
This is however not recognized in a lot of countries and neither does it say anythign such in history books. Macedonians are a southern slavic nation. There are history films and documentaries, also on youtube made by western countries which say the opposite. I am not here to continue the never ending fight between Greeks and Macedonians - we have one here with the Moscow-Soviets and Putin - What I want to do here is that this should end on wikipedia and that wikipedia should provide the both sides claims until both sides find an agreement on the origin. Also that it would be internationally and academically recognized. At the moment it is not. Karabinier (talk) 15:27, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just remove it you are posting irrelevant arguments such as politics.Fyrom is unrelated to the issue.Megistias (talk) 12:30, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I will not remove it as I see this article is being politilized. Macedonian claims into this issue is important as no other nation in the world has such claims. Alexander the Great play an important role to both countries history and culture legacy. Therefore such removal would be a political act.Karabinier (talk) 15:27, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Stop ignoring the consensus. He is an anceint Greek and they were ancient Greeks because that is the consensus of scientists. It has nothing to do with states .Megistias (talk) 12:38, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- "as no other nation in the world has such claims".Albanians now,Bulgarians in the past ,Romanians in past,Germany & Italy in the nazi era,Nordiscists all around the globe,Black supremacists all around the globe and many others have such claims and they are or were nationalist trash claims.Just stop it please.Megistias (talk) 12:40, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Termin nõukogude holokaust on puht propagandistlik. Venekeelses Wikipedias on see juba täitsa toimumas. Teisalt ei ole propaganda ka Eesti seisu kohalt hea väljavaade. Lihtsakoeline propaganda töötab propagandisti vastu tihtipeale. Lisaks sellele me ei vaja seda. Meil on ju suuremalt jaolt õigus - NSV Liit viis läbi tohutud inimsusevastased kuriteod. Seega oleks hea poliitiliselt korrektseks jääda ja mitte lasta tunnetel enda üle võimus haaramast.
Loodan, et mõistad mu tagasihoidlikke seisukohti,

A question
Hi, I've noticed you've been doing some good work on creating some articles on Estonian Navy ships. I wonder if you might be able to shed some light on a question I've raised at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships#Estonian Navy ships - EML or ENS? Kind regards, Benea (talk) 20:13, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
BMP-1 in Estonia?
Hello!
The discussion about possible existence of BMP-1 IFVs in Estonian Army is interesting. From what I know Soviet/Russian motorized units stayed in Baltic republics (Baltic Military District) in 1980s-beg.1990s were equipped with quite many BMP-1, perhaps, a few could be left there after withdrawal of Russian units. But despite the fact that quite many Russian and foreign online sources mention that Estonian Army had(has) BMP-1 IFVs I never saw the exact number of BMP-1 in Estonian Army (if so).
The best Russian reference-books I have mention the following - Estonian Army has BTR-152 (4), BRDM-2 (7), MAMBA Alvis-4 (8), BTR-80 (75), Sisu XA-180 (57). BMP-1 is not mentioned.
I very much tend to believe at the moment that Estonia doesn't have BMP-1 IFVs.

- Estonia did not declare the Soviet Army weapons and vehicles Estonian property in 1991 due to several factors unlike most of the former USSR countries - for example Georgia, Armenia etc. BTR-80s were obtained from a Soviet Russian higher officer living Estonia - the vehicles were taken by force as they possessed a threat and there was a serious weapon demand-need among the restored Estonia Defence Forces. During the Soviet occupation there were numerous tanks, infantry, motorized infantry, air force strategic bomber, navy, submarine and also nuclear units in Estonia. There might be some BMP-1 vehicles only on the test grounds and firing sectors for practice targets though I doubt seriously about that. BMP type of machines entered 1991, during the Moscow Coup, Estonia - and a lot of these machines were deserted near the Tallinn-Narva highway as they broke down during the drive towards Tallinn. I have not found any records about that some of those broke machines would have been taken into the EDF machine park. In 1994 when the Soviet - now already under a new name Russian Army left Estonia, all the machinery was taken along. One of the reasons why Estonia did not declare these weapons as a property of the republic was a reason that Estonia then would have had to buy spare parts and ammunition from Russia for a long time to come. The second main reason was that the soviet machinery was considered very low quality and high cost to upkeep them.
The BTR-152 and BRDM-2 is also a very mysterious thing as there are no official numbers about those vehicles - I have seen some photos from military parades in other cities where such machines are on the parades - that proofs that these machines really are in active use. On the second hand no website has ever presented them - army ones I mean. The real number of BTR-80s is also questionable as I have heard from some soldiers and officers in the forums that most of these machines exist only on papers and around 20-30 are in fighting condition. The Mamba Alvis number is 9 instead of 8. Xa-180 used to be 60 now there 57 left as 3 were lost during the Afghanistan war which still keeps going on. Recently Sweden has offered 350 BMP-1 vehicles to any foreign country which would buy minimum 50 of those. If Estonia would obtain some of those well-preserved-modernized BMP-1 then they would be the first ones to arrive and wear Estonian colors - very unlikely to happen though. Thanks for writing and giving information!Karabinier (talk) 14:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello, thank you for the interesting information. I just don't agree with claimed low quality of Soviet AFVs because it is better in some aspects than of corresponding NATO AFVs but with one important assumption - trained technical service which was (and is) quite often neglected in Soviet/Russian Army. Do you have any information about the rumored two North Korean BMP-1 IFVs which were supposed to be used as decoration?

Hello ones more for today :) The complete info about Soviet units (all belonged to 144th Guard motorized rifle Elna division) of Baltic Military District which located in Estonia and had BMP-1 based vehicles (service data of the Ministry of Defense of USSR for the end of 1990). Image source problem with Image:ARM-helicopter-unit.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ARM-helicopter-unit.jpg.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 14:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
