For blatant vandalism within the last few hours, please see Administrator intervention against vandalism. This page is for reporting vandalism for which an ongoing response is required. This primarily includes multiple sockpuppets, pages currently being heavily vandalised, users that need to be monitored, open proxies, and vandalism which requires study on the part of an administrator before responding. Accounts that have only been used for vandalism (with no recent activity) should also be reported on this page, so that an administrator can look through their edits. Please make sure to read the first two sections before using this page.

This page is intended to request administrator investigation of certain types of vandalism only. Do not use this page until you read the policies, guidelines, and procedures. For most vandalism, see Administrator intervention against vandalism.

Alerts that do not belong on this page will be removed immediately, without response, and without warning.

Current alerts

Current date is November 16, 2024; place new alerts on top.

Pages

This section is for pages that are the targets of persistent vandalism by multiple users (anonymous and/or logged in).

Note to system administrators: I know I'm probably going to get grilled for putting this here, but I have a suggestion. Could we please remove some of the alerts on this page? I don't know who is responsible for it, but it would help to unclutter in terms of checking for vandalism. Some of these have been resolved for days due to the vandalism coming to a hault or the page in question being protected. Thanks! Davidpdx 9/16/05 15:40 (UTC)

This page is getting a variety of POV edits, apparently by one person who feels the company is entirely above-board and without fault and another who finds them to be the scum of the Earth (despite the glut of redlinked users, the edits are almost always mirror images of previous revisions). A few regular editors have hashed out what we feel is a reasonably NPOV version but I'm bumping up against 3RR on this. Various "Here's why I'm reverting, please contribute to the talk page" requests have garnered no response. — Lomn | Talk / RfC 22:04, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism from several IPs (most recent to least recent):

Cdyson37 23:37, 13 September 2005 (UTC) Seems to have stopped for now. No edits since my revert of 00:33, 14 September 2005 -- Cdyson37 20:50, 14 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can't tell if this is a case of persistant vandalism or what due to what was done. Go to that page and you get a pic of a algebraic equation. I'm not talking about it replacing the body of the entry, but saying that is ALL you get, no wikipedia sidebars, navigational tools, editing tabs or anything. Now Phelps may not be my favorite person, but somebody has nailed this page good. Donovan Ravenhull 20:56, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This page looks fine to me, and nothing in the history suggests vandalism. Perhaps it's something in your browser? moink 21:51, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Odd. I caught the weird version too (on Firefox). Then I fired up the page in Safari, and it looked fine. Then I went back to Firefox, and it looked fine when I reloaded. Someone been diddling a template or something? --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 22:01, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm using IE. The same result came up for me for at work (where I typed up the report) and here at home. Donovan Ravenhull 22:28, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I have been having this problem on random pages too. I think it has to do with the general slowdown of wiki, it looks as if sometimes the stylesheet is not being downloaded in time to be applied to the page. --Darkfred Talk to me 09:36, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This user page keeps getting vandalized by different IPs. --Ixfd64 09:17, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

70.23.104.48 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) refuses to comply with reasonable requests that he discuss controversial edits on the article's Talk page, simply reverting over and over again. • One person using several IPs, in an ongoing smear campaign against Jorn Barger:
Note Huneric (talk · contribs) also appears to have made Jorn Barger–related edits in a similar vein [1] [2], which may or may not be related. -- Curps 18:41, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Huneric is almost certainly the same person, based on the Jorn Barger connection and this series of edits: [3] [4] [5] (he edited List of guitarists as Huneric, left an uncivil note on my talk page as Huneric, then reverted List of guitarists as 209.215.160.*).
Huneric has been blocked indefinitely as a self-admitted vandal [6]. The range 209.215.160.0/25 has also been temporarily blocked. -- Curps 19:37, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Articles affected by the Jorn Barger vandal include:
The change involves adding Barger's name to an irrelevant list, or adding a one-line defamatory reference about him. Vandal usually puts "minor edit" in the Edit summary, but doesn't check the "minor edit" box. Owen× 20:05, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This vandal is continuing to disrupt Wikipedia by making irrelevant page changes as noted above. All edits are originating from the 209.215.160.x range. Hall Monitor 19:13, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone work out what has happened at this page? --Ian Pitchford 13:35, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

User has repeatily reverted this artical to one that has a POV even after being warned not to do this. User has also vandalized Ecclesiastical state and Bokak Atoll. Shocktm 20:51, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

It's the same pro-DoM contributor that has been revert and/or POV warring for the last few weeks in a host of articles, including Antartica, Rotuma, Microstate, Micronation, Fictional country, etc. Attempts to reason with the anonymous contributor thus far prove unproductive. El_C 00:52, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Will someone fix them when they have a chance? He also changed Ecclesiastical state and Bokak Atoll again, I reverted both of them. Davidpdx 9/12/05 12:22 KST

I have offered a truce in terms of getting into an edit war with this person. I told him I would offer to look at any proof he has, if he would sign up for an ID and not revert those pages for a week. I thought maybe this might help settle things down for a bit. We'll see if it works. Davidpdx 9/16/05 9:43 (UTC)

Vandalism with the nastiest edit summaries I have ever seen on Wikipedia, obviously the same person or closely coordinated on multiple IPs. This is one of the few times I think it would be worth someone going in and removing edit summaries. -- Jmabel | Talk 05:14, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

I now see that each of these IPs did multiple vandalisms (various articles) before they were stopped, equally nasty edit summaries. Same comment about removing edit summaries applies. -- Jmabel | Talk 05:16, September 11, 2005 (UTC)

The vile edit summaries by these sockpuppets are addressed against a particular Wiki admin, who may have blocked other IP addresses used by the same anon. Robert McClenon 14:31, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal calling himself 'Long John Silver', keeps reverting entire article to a highly POV version mostly consisting of conspiracy theories found on blogs. The vandal appears to come from behing a NAT box and so the IP address changes, often with each post. The vandal has also converted certain redirect articles into his own personal platform for a highly POV article. See [7]. The same poster has also repeatedly violated WP:NPA in the talk for Able Danger under the names 'Honest Abe' and 'Swamp Fox' calling those with contrary views 'liars' and 'National Socialists'.

Oh more charming edits, 209.247.222.87 adding 'white power' to the MLK article. [8] And using the N. word on the Danny Glover article. [9] --Gorgonzilla 04:45, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not entirely sure if I'm being had, or if others are having this problem, but everytime I click on a link going to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conestoga_wagon, I get redirected to the French wikipedia's article on Islam. The appropriate URL is retained in the address bar of my browser. There is nothing you can do with this page (edit, history, etc.) without typing the URL's into the address bar. However, the current real version shows up quite well if you click on its entry in the History page. This has to be vandalism--I could spend a half hour clicking on Random article without getting a topic I recognized, but this sucker redirects to a big fish of an article. Thanks for the help! --Adamrush 15:35, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It was a template that got defaced. It lasted only a minute, and if the vandalism is still visible for you, it's an old cache you're seing. Should be fine for everyone soon. Shanes 07:33, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I too will vouch that this user's only contributions are disruptive. He has also appeared from other IPs on the same range in order to avoid 3RR violation. Indef block recommended. Erwin
I'm sorry, as a relativly new user I had difficulty understanding that user:mongo wasn't violating any of those with this little comment "I CAN contact AOL and they CAN track your IP based on your posts and they CAN remove your memebership, and if you do something really stupid, an easy task for you I'm sure, maybe you can spend a few nights in a jail with the butt pirates..." I guess this is just user:mongo's way of making new people feel welcome, by threatening them with sodomy--172.156.178.23 05:51, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You also might want to check out Erwin_Walsh (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), but socks are neither here nor there, as they seem to have their own section--172.156.178.23 05:55, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
He'll probably get busted for violating 3RR himself. But please, stop the nonsense and stop the personal attacks. --Titoxd 06:04, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt very much that anything would ever happen to mongo, either way, I don't much care.. good luck dealing with Walsh and the 8x.x.x.x anons--172.156.178.23 06:44, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You provided an unprovoked personal attack here right after vandalizing this touchy subject matter of all things and you expect civility from me. Sure, that's likely.--MONGO 08:05, September 3, 2005 (UTC)
Why would I expect civility from you? I would expect trolling and petty vandalism from you, and behold.. to be fair I would have expected it from one of your sockpuppets, not you, but it looks like you've been at it for a while --172.156.178.23 14:10, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't use sockpuppets, and the other comment isn't vandalism in any twisted vision you may have as a definition, nor is it a personal attack...is was in response to a real troll insulting the U.S. in the Hurricane Katrina articles talk page...bye.--MONGO 19:22, September 3, 2005 (UTC)

This is one of Wikipedia's most persistent, long-term vandals. You can find his "contributions" going back to at least May under numerous aliases, including IP addresses in the 63.19.*.* range. More recently he's been registering throw-away user names. His MO is falsifying data in geographic articles in north central North Carolina, and occasionally vandalizing other things. Look at the history of Stokes County, North Carolina to see some of his typical edits. Blocking 63.19.0.0/16 usually shuts him down, though he has also used 65.54.*.*.
