Kamen Rider Decade (character)

Kamen Rider Decade (仮面ライダーディケイド, Kamen Raidā Dikeido) is the primary protagonist and eponymous character of the 2009 Kamen Rider Series Kamen Rider Decade. Decade's name is taken from the English word decade as Decade is the 10th of the Heisei run of the Kamen Rider Series. His design is based on a striped shield bug.

Tsukasa Kadoya

Tsukasa Kadoya (門矢 士, Kadoya Tsukasa, portrayed by Masahiro Inoue) is a hypocritical and self-righteous young man who does not know much about his past. He has a strong desire to "catch the world" using his photos, but they never develop well. He sees this as a sign that he is not of this world, unaware of it being an prelude of it being supplanted by the worlds of the other nine Kamen Riders. However as Decade, he is seen by some as an agent of destruction.

Fictional character biography

When Tsukasa is confronted by Natsumi over the photos he has taken, the two get separated by a dimensional barrier that sends Natsumi into an unstable pocket dimension where she flees for her life from various monsters before finding Decadriver from her dreams. While looking for her, Tsukasa encounters Wataru Kurenai, who calls him "Decade". Wataru tells him today is the day his world will end, and that he is needed to protect it. After finding Natsumi, Tsukasa uses the Kamen Ride Cards to assume the forms of Kabuto, Faiz and Hibiki to deal with groups of Worm, Orphnoch and Makamou. Confused by both his actions and the cards' powers' fading, Tsukasa takes Natsumi and returns to their world as it is being destroyed by the various monsters. When time suddenly freezes, Wataru appears, revealing the status of the worlds and assigning Tsukasa the task of traveling into the other worlds to stop the dimensional chaos inflicted on his own world by defeating the other Kamen Riders of each dimension.

Arriving in Kuuga's world, Tsukasa takes full advantage of his status as a policeman and ablity to understand and speak the Grongi language, stopping the ressurection of the Grongi leader N-Gamio-Zeda while killing off his remaining followers. However, Yuusuke recognizes Tsukasa as Decade and attacks him, because he knew of Decade's mission to destroy the Riders. However, their battle is interrupted by Kick Hopper and Punch Hopper appearing due to a dimensional rift. After the Hoppers disappear in the same manner they appeared, Yuusuke explains to Tsukasa that it was a mysterious man who told him Decade was evil. N-Gamio-Zeda resurrects and Tsukasa battles him and the Grongi on his own until Yuusuke arrives and the two work together to defeat the Grongi leader.

Tsukasa transforms into Decade through the use of the Decadriver (ディケイドライバー, Dikeidoraibā) belt that is based around the Rider Cards (ライダーカード, Raidā Kādo). With the Kamen Ride Cards (カメンライドカード, Kamen Raido Kādo), the user can transform into either Decade or into any main Heisei Kamen Rider. While assuming the form of a Heisei Rider, Decade can use Attack Ride Cards (アタックライドカード, Atakku Raido Kādo) and Form Ride Cards (ォームライドカード, Fōmu Raido Kādo) to access the rider's arsenal. He can also use Final Form Ride Cards to transform another Heisei Rider into a different form. When Final Cards are used, the first syllable in the speech pattern skips thrice.

Though able to assume the other forms, a seal was placed on the nine other cards that has the Rider's image losing color and blurs, presumably unusable until the image becomes clear again.

Form Ride Cards

• Kuuga Dragon (クウガドラゴン, Kūga Doragon): As Kuuga, Decade assumes Dragon Form.
• Kuuga Titan (クウガタイタン, Kūga Taitan): As Kuuga, Decade assumes Titan Form.

Attack Ride Cards

• Slash (スラッシュ, Surasshu): This increases the damage done by the Ride Booker's Sword Mode.
• Blast (ブラスト, Burasuto): This grants the Ride Booker's Gun Mode rapid fire capabilities.
• Clock Up (クロックアップ, Kurokku Appu): As Kabuto, Decade moves extremely fast to the point that seconds slow down into minutes.
• Ongekibō Rekka (音撃棒・烈火): As Hibiki, Decade conjures up two drumsticks to charge them with power and use the finisher Kibōjutsu Rekkadan (鬼棒術・烈火弾), igniting the tops with flames, creating torch-like weapons that shoot fireballs. Decade's fireballs are powerful enough to destroy giant Makamou as well.
• Autovajin (オートバジン, Ōtobajin): As Faiz, Decade turns the Machine Decader into the Autovajin, Faiz's own motorcycle, which goes into Battle Mode (バトルモード, Batoru Mōdo). This also allows Decade to access the Faiz Edge via Autovajin's right shoulder.

Final Form Ride Cards

These cards can give Decade the power bestow new forms upon other Riders.

• Kuuga Gouram (クウガゴウラム, Kūga Gōramu): Transforms Kuuga into a creature similar to Gouram, giving him the ability to fly.

Final Attack Ride Cards

These cards are Decade's most powerful attacks, used for finishing off enemies.

• Decade: Decade performs the Dimension Kick (ディメンションキック, Dimenshon Kikku), an attack that involves Decade jumping through various golden cards and performing a flying kick.
• Kuuga: While in Gouram form, Kuuga rushes toward Decade with the target stuck in his pincers while Decade performs the Decade Assault (ディケイドアサルト, Dikeido Asaruto) flying kick towards the target.

Ride Booker

Decade's primary weapon is the Ride Booker (ライドブッカー, Raido Bukkā) which has three modes: Book Mode (ブックモード, Bukku Mōdo), Gun Mode (ガンモード, Gan Mōdo), and Sword Mode (ソードモード, Sōdo Mōdo). While in Book Mode, the Ride Booker holds the Rider Cards that Decade uses in his arsenal. In Sword Mode, the Ride Booker's finishing move is the Decade Slash (ディケイドスラッシュ, Dikeido Surasshu). In Gun Mode, the Ride Booker's finishing move is the Decade Blast (ディケイドブラスト, Dikeido Burasuto).

Decade's bike is called the Machine Decader (マシンディケイダー, Mashin Dikeidā). Like Decade who can assume the form of a Heisei Kamen Rider, the Machine Decader can assume the form of the respective Rider's motorcycle. It exhibits this ability when Decade transforms into Faiz and transforms the Machine Decader into the Autovajin.
