The Mayoral election of 1977 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was held on Tuesday, November 6, 1977. The incumbent mayor, Richard Caliguiri, having assumed the office just 10 months earlier after long time mayor Tom Flaherty resigned to take a position in the newly formed Jimmy Carter White House, chose to run for his first full term as an Independent-Democrat.

Primary elections

Allegheny County councilman and rumored party boss, Thomas Foerster won the Democratic Primary.

General election

A total of 143,967 votes were cast.
