The U.S. gubernatorial elections of 2007, of which there are three, will be held on November 6, 2007. Governors comping up for re-election are Ernie Fletcher (R-KY), Kathleen Blanco (D-LA) and Hayley Barbour (R-MS). Of these three, Barbour is the most popular and can be expected to win re-election fairly easily. Both Fletcher and Blanco are unpopular; in Kentucky Fletcher's governorship has been embroiled in scandal while in Louisiana Blanco has taken the flack for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the federal government's ill-preparedness to deal with casualties, 63% of Louisianans dissaprove of her.

Barbour currently has no obvious challenges. Both Fletcher and Blanco have some obvious challengers, in Kentucky, Congressman Ben Chandler, a Democrat who Fletcher defeated in 2003, could run again. Similiarly in Louisiana, Blanco's 2003 opponent Bobby Jindal, now a New Orleans Congressman, could run against her.
