A kolkhoz (Russian: колхоз) is a form of collective farming in the Soviet Union existd along with sovkhozes. the word is a contraction of коллективное хозяйство, or "collective farm". The latter term is a typical translation of the word "kolkhoz".

In a kolkhoz, a member was paid a share of the farm's product and profit according to the number of workdays (трудодень, trudodien), while sovkhoz employed salaried workers.
