Occupations

I suggest adding television personality to Brandy's occupation list, because she was a judge on America's Got Talent. Just a thought. Disney09 (talk) 21:33, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What a load of shit

Please tell me this is not a brandyfan who is providng this article on brandy, its quite sad to see that one of the most successful acts of the generation 90's,00's has been made to look as if she has not acomplished anything. NSN alone has sold 14 million albums, so how can her WW sales be 14 million. Honestly, if a non fan of Brandy wanted to see how she faired against there artist she wud not look gud, how can she sell 10.5m in the US an just 3.5m worldwide, with one of the most successful albums of the 90's LOL. Everyone knows she has sold more than 25million albums worldwide, even Piers Morgan mentions it on AGT n when Brandy was in the headlines for her car accident dey even mentioned it numerous times. CHECK YOUR FACTS, OR DONT WRITE ON HER ARTICLE AT ALL.

I totally argee wit u ...cuz she did sell 25 million Albumsz...AInt no way in hell Ashanti out sold her...NA...bullshit —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sxglamour (talkcontribs) 23:55, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly do not think you should be advising anyone on anything considering your use of grammar and spelling. Also,it is worse when a "brandyfan" writes a article,as it has a biased slant. --65.1.220.194 (talk) 01:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Album

Her new album is called "Enter My World" and a new single called "Just Like Tommy" leaked. Anyone care to update Brandy's page???

no proof for this (Lil-unique1 (talk) 22:05, 19 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Child's birth

Does anybody else besides me think that the birth of her child should be in this article?!

Not true

SHE IS DEAD she died at her house 2 months again by taking a gun to her head Itallia,Brandy Fan

That is NOT funny. NO ONE is laughing. Now go away. Jdot01 03:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album sales

Where did she sell all these albums I mean Never Say Never is not certified in Canada, Austrilia, or Europe. So where did she sell the additional 9 million copies

Additional info

Removed from Brandy article. If it has additional information it should be in this article. Rmhermen 04:10 Apr 26, 2003 (UTC)

(born February 11, 1979). She starred in a couple of television shows in the 1990s, including the popular Moesha in which she played the lead character, a rambunctious young teen. Later, she starred in Rodger And Hammerstein’s television version of Cinderella (see fan site).

Although she is a successful actress, Brandy is better known for her singing career. She released her debut album in early 1995. It had the popular singles, "Best Friend," "Brokenhearted," "Baby," and "I Wanna Be Down" and made her an MTV star. Towards the end of that year, she contributed a song to the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack, called "Sittin' Up In My Room". It became a huge hit in early 1996, fueled by a popular rap remix that featured LL Cool J.

That same year, Brandy teamed up with Tamia, Chaka Khan, and Gladys Knight, for the single "Missing You," off of the ... soundtrack. Even with the superstar lineup, it was Brandy's least successful single yet, but was still a moderate hit.

In late 1998 Brandy released her second album, Never Say Never, shortly after its first single, a duet with media "rival" Monica called "The Boy Is Mine," spent eleven weeks on top of the Hot 100 chart that summer. The album was also a number one smash on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, eventually becoming multi-platinum. The album's other singles "Top Of The World," a duet with rapper Mase; "Almost Doesn't Count;" and "U Don't Know Me (Like U Used To)," which had a hip hop remix version which was used for the video and featured rappers Da Brat and Shaunta; were more minor hits in late 1998 and through 1999. The album's third single, "Have You Ever," was a big number one pop and R&B hit in early 1999.

Brandy's third album, Full Moon was released in early 2002 and spawned the hits "What About Us" and "Full Moon," whose video featured a five-month-pregnant Brandy and whose lyrics explain how Brandy felt when she first saw her husband.

She is currently married to Robert Smith and has a daughter, Sy'rai, who was born in the summer of 2003.

(I'm the person who began the article on Brandy with the above information. I'll add it back into the "Brandy Norwood" article, since it adds details about her musical career that aren't already present in the "Brandy Norwood" article.

Reversion explanation

I reverted this to the last version by Pacian on the basis that the breathless hagiography added since that time was simply too difficult to edit accurately in a line-by-line fashion. If anybody wants to use the information in it, it's still available in the article history. --Robert Merkel 05:39, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Article name

Brandy publishes all her songs under the name "Brandy", she receives songwriting credits on her albums as "Brandy", and is even credited in most of her acting roles as "Brandy" (I Still Know, Cinderella, Moesha, Arachnophobia). This article should be moved to Brandy (singer) (or Brandy (entertainer), to account for her side acting career), in keeping with the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). For precedence, see Madonna (entertainer), Jewel (singer), Jem (singer), Dido (singer), Bill Clinton, Eminem, etc. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 19:14, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

Shouldn't The Article Be Titled "Brandy" Instead Of "Brandy Norwood"?

Please Tell Me What You Think Because I'm Seriously Considering Renaming This Article.

Baby16 (talk) 18:03, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Reply Here Or On My Talk Page

Brandy is an article about distilled wine. The article title should be "Brandy Norwood", and she should be referred to as "Norwood" throughout. That is her name, after all.—Kww(talk) 18:41, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, What I Meant Was To Rename It "Brandy (entertainer)" Instead Of "Brandy Norwood", My Mistake For Forgetting To State That Part.
Simply Because According To Wikipeda & I Quote "...use the most common name of a person or thing..." Basically The Most Recognizable Name.
I See What You Were Saying Too. "...that does not conflict with the names of other people or things...".
That's Why I Meant "Brandy (entertainer)" I Searched That Title & It Does Not Exist Or Redirect Anywhere. I Also Checked "Brandy Disambiguation" Just To Make Sure.
Brandy Is Not Only The Name People Know Her By But It's Also The Name She Uses Professionally As A Singer (On Her Albums) & Actress (Movies & TV Shows)
Secondly, Calling Her "Norwood" Throughout The Article Makes Sense, I Apparently Wasn't Fully Awake When I Made That Edit (lol)

Baby16 (talk) 21:27, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't object to you creating a redirect at "Brandy (entertainer)" that pointed at "Brandy Norwood". Brandy (disambiguation) does exist. Really wish you would stop shouting, though.—Kww(talk) 21:30, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Wasn't Shouting Or At Least I Didn't Think I Was. Oh The Capitals! sorry, hard to break a habit. I meant that I checked brandy disambiguation to see if the title Brandy (entertainer) existed.

Ok I'll redirect instead of move. Its not gonna hurt to keep the name anyway right? Cool thanks.

Baby16 (talk) 22:28, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(unnecessary bolding removed)

I believe this article should TOTALLY be titled Brandy (entertainer), as it once was before. She has hardly ever used her last name. Other artists who barely do more than music (Monica) are titled ENTERTAINERS, Brandy ought to be as well. 75.94.98.148 (talk) 22:40, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

From Wikipedia:WikiProject Music:

Don't be too gushy about your favorite band. "Enormously popular", "critically acclaimed" and the like are generally okay, but don't be angry if someone demands a source; "the best band of the 70s", "the only punk band to never sell out" and such are not acceptable and will be changed -- if a famous critic has said so and it does not interrupt the flow, quote and document.;;.

--FuriousFreddy 15:49, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unecessary and badly written information?

>>The second single from Never Say Never was "Top Of The World", featuring rapper Ma$e. The video, directed by Paul Hunter, featured Brandy incurring various supernatural phenomena. She spontaneously floated in the air, flipping and somersaulting above random objects; telephone poles and vehicles, as people stopped to stare. These strange phenomena also included balancing herself vertically and horizontally alongside skyscrapers and buildings.<<

The close description of the video seems to be incredibly pointless. I vote to remove.

Chart lies

Brandy has not had that many #1 hits. In the US or UK. Someone please edit this with the right chart states.

UK : www.everyhit.com US: allmusic.com or billboard.com 216.220.208.124 18:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC) Someone put false sales saying she sold 90 million copies and tons of number ones.[reply]

Album sales

I seriously think that the album sales are false I mean she doesnt have certifications in Australia, Canada or Europe or most markets except US. So where do all these worlwide sales come from.

This is the very reason why I placed an {{expert-portal}} tag on the page, as people keep changing the sale quantity every day. Anthony Rupert 05:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brandy and Scientology

There's no need to include wrong information - especially not with an extra headline. - User:Noboyo, 9 November, 2006

Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. The article relays exactly what the sources say, and that's all we as editors are supposed to do. wikipediatrix 04:27, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but are the sources reliable? Who is Jawn Murray? --ElectricEye (talk) 05:44, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The subtitle (Brandy and Scientology) is wrong and gives undue weight towards Scientology when the section is about her experience with two churches: Scientology and First AME Church, not just Scientology. --ElectricEye (talk) 05:22, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anybody know anything about the new track "Follow Me" that is posted on multiple websites? I have never heard this one before. A new single perhaps? A preview cut off the new album? This should be included in the current events portion of the article. I heard that, and "The Jonses" and "Deepest Thoughts" are new too, but I dontknow if any of these will be on her new album.I dont think its really worth mentioning but if u want to 24.69.67.173 18:42, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Possible plagiarism - vehicular manslaughter info

The section detailing the resolution of Brandy's December 30, 2006 "driving incident," which resulted in another woman's death and a recommendation from the California Highway Patrol that Brandy be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter, appears to have been lifted/plagiarized directly from other copyrighted sources... Bonehed (talk) 09:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where's the accident?

The current version of this article makes no mention of her auto accident, except to refer to "recent legal woes" as the reason she left America's Got Talent after the first season. I understand prior references to the accident were inadequate (perhaps even plagiarism and/or copyright infringement); but even though the prosecutors decided not to file charges, the accident is still significant enough to be mentioned here. Would someone with better referencing skills (and NOT a fanboy, please) please put the accident back in the article? --RBBrittain (talk) 02:11, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alias?

The article listed B-Rocka as an alias for Brandy. Per the template instructions, aliases are official stage names. What did she release or perform as B-Rocka and not as Brandy? —C.Fred (talk) 02:06, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She KILLED someone

My God! Could you people paint a more flowery picture of someone committing vehicular MANSLAUGHTER and getting away with it scott free? Has she been just any other African-American woman, and not a celebrity, she'd be in the penn right now. Your beloved Moesha star was probably doing her makeup, fixing her hair or talking on the phone which caused her to slam full speed into Awatef Aboudihaj's car and KILL HER. If there's no justice or impartiality in the American judicial system, let there be at least in Wikipedia, for God's sake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.46.207.189 (talkcontribs) 07:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article covers the accident, noting that she was not charged with vehicular manslaughter because of lack of evidence. Per Wikipedia's standards on neutral point-of-view, the article sticks to what can be backed up by reliable sources and does not speculate on the cause of the accident or whether she was at fault. —C.Fred (talk) 11:11, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That Grape Juice interview

Brandy recentley did an interview with That Grape Juice, and its currently being used as a source in the article, one editor (Noboyo) thinks the source is not reliable.....he is wrong.........cause its a professional interview, and there is no reason to consider it unreliable......[1]...86.96.226.88 (talk) 11:36, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That Grape Juice did many interviews with various celebrities..[2]...including Ne-Yo, The Saturdays, Ashanti, Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and D. Woods of Danity Kane...................Theyre all 100% professional and 100% reliable....and there is no reason why they cant be used as sources...........86.96.226.88 (talk) 11:49, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for mistaking sources, as I confused ThatGrapeJuice with some other commercial blog. BUT: The 2009 section should not be full of quotations, that's what Wikimedia Commons is used for. In addition, I corrected the source for the Swedish article mentioning her work with StarGate. (Ach, und warum nicht auf deutsch, Malcolmo?) - Noboyo

Date discrepancy

Kobe Bryant's Wikipedia page says he went to his high school prom with Brandy in 1996. This article says Brandy was dating a different celebrity from 1995 to 1997, and that she went to his prom in 1999--not 1996. Bryant was also drafted in 1996, meaning he had graduated from high school that year, so in 1999 he would have been past high school age.

Which is correct? There exists a discrepancy between two Wiki pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.17.210 (talk) 03:58, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Signing with Motown?

The claim that Norwood has signed with Motown hinges on this caption at Rap-Up.com: "Universal Motown Republic Group honored its 2010 Grammy nominees with a cocktail party at Whiskey Blue at the W Westwood following Sunday’s show. The label’s newest signee Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Akon, Ray J, Lil Jon, Kid Cudi, Jay Sean, and Melanie Fiona partied until the early morn’."[emphasis added][3] The problem is it says newest signee, singular, which implies that only Kelly Rowland has signed. How can we make the jump from that to Norwood having signed? —C.Fred (talk) 20:16, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Official website?

An anonymous editor changed the official website today, and I've chanced it back based on the following information:

  • foreverbrandy.com is copyrighted by, and clearly a production of, Sony Music Entertainment.
  • 4everbrandy.com bears a copyright notice of Norwood Entertainment Group; however, clicking on the terms of service brings up the terms for the Ning Platform, which is designed for building "Social Networks." Further, the website of the alleged designer, ubgmedia.com, is a placeholder site.

Based on that, I've reverted to foreverbrandy.com as the official site. If anybody can provide independent verification that the latter is her new official website, I'll support the change, but not based on what I saw at the two sites today. —C.Fred (talk) 15:42, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cousin of Bo Diddley?

Please remove the line when it says Brandy is a cousin of Bo Diddley. It is a wrong information, and its source is a link to an MTV page where no single word about Bo Diddley is said.89.138.185.22 (talk) 00:40, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done I've looked through two years of revisions, and I don't see where there was a source for the assertion about Diddley in that time. —C.Fred (talk) 01:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
