Fair use rationale for Image:Himym slap bet.jpg
Image:Himym slap bet.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Name Change
Do we have any information about when or why the episode title was changed from "Robin Sparkles" to "Slap Bet?" It's airing in syndication as "Robin Sparkles." Dayewalker (talk) 05:32, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- They didn't want the show title to give away the ending so they changed it but changed it back for reruns. Some versions of the article include this information (at the date of this piont). If the article no longer includes this explanation please look back in the history and restore it. -- Horkana (talk) 01:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Saget monkey video. Don't want to add the point back unless it is true but it is just weird enough that it might actually be true. Anyone have a source that might be able to verify this? -- Horkana (talk) 01:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
cultural references
In this episode we learn that Robin is afraid of the Seven Darfs or only Doc, rather and that she does not go to malls. When Ted later asks her in bed questions her about not going to malls, he asks her whether she was "trapped under a fake boulder in a mall." In the Disney film version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the evil stepmother falls to her death and is probably crushed by a falling boulder. All five slaps doled out?
In HIMYM's 100th episode, "Girls vs. Suits," Marshall slaps Barney (albeit gently) across the face while Barney is nuzzling Marshall's suit -- with Marshall still in it. Under the terms of Barney's forfeit from "Slap Bet," that could count as the fifth and final slap. Now as of mid-season 6, I think the "official" slap count is still at four -- Marshall has DECLARED four slaps given, at any rate. But perhaps Marshall doesn't need to declare a slap ("That's one!", "That's two!", etc.) for it to count. Should the list here be changed to note BOTH possibilities? (If there's no response after a couple of weeks, I'll go ahead and make the change.) --74.192.25.188 (talk) 21:35, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Without a source, it's pure speculation. In a show with as many chronological twists as HIMYM, there's no way to tell whether or not a slap is the 5th slap in the Slap Bet unless they tell us it is. That slap might not count, or the 5th slap could have already occurred chronologically and they just haven't flashed back to that episode yet. Dayewalker (talk) 20:46, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- False. There is a way to "tell" whether or not a slap is a slap: watch the show. I think everyone knows well enough how to find and view show episodes online so I am not going to cite to an outside server to avoid the complaint "The link didn't work" when people can find their own. The slap occurs approximately ten minutes (0:10:00) into the episode (show/plot run time, not including commercials). Review the Girls Versus Suits plot summary for the context, but you can see for yourself that a slap occurs. I have removed the "speculation" as to whether or not the lack of attribution in the script is intentional (leaving room for Barney to appeal to the Slap Bet Commissioner) or a simple oversight because someone complained earlier about "speculation." Had I known I wasn't the only one who saw that the slaps were all doled out, I would have edited this page earlier (seeing how 74.192.25.188 failed to live up to his/her promise) but I don't check the "Talk" sections when things are perfectly clear from watching the show. I have now removed all "assumptions" from the fifth slap, as per Dayewalker's request, and am stating it merely as a fact in the article. Now there are no grounds to remove the "fifth slap" reference from Continuity because it is not listed as "Slap #5" (until such time as the writers allow Barney an appeal following Slap #6, at which time I shall return to PROPERLY ATTRIBUTE the Girls Versus Suits slap as Slap #5.) - Tjprochazka (talk) 23:03, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- No one is disputing that there is a slap in the "Girls vs Suits" episode. That's not the discussion here, the point is that unless we are informed somehow, we don't know if that slap counts as one of the five, or whether it's another slap just for slap's sake. Marshall doesn't react in the same way as in the previous Slap Bet slaps, and there's no mention of it being the fifth slap. Speculating that it is when based on what you've seen in the episode and how you interpret it is original research, which is not allowed in Wikipedia. That's why you've been reverted so many times, you're taking what you've seen and jumping to the conclusion that the slap is the fifth Slap Bet. Dayewalker (talk) 02:01, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Just so we're all clear then:
- 1) You are NOT disputing the FACT that a slap WAS delivered in "Girls Versus Suits" that, according to the current storyline, is the fifth slap, chronologically, since Marshall was awarded five slaps.
- 2) You are simply upset that I called it "Slap #5" when it was not so identified in the story script.
- 3) You don't care that, each time someone complained about the classification of the slap, steps were taken to accommodate those criticisms while still acknowledging that a slap was, in fact, delivered.
- 4) The current revision, which accommodates YOUR criticism of the classification of the fifth slap as #5, is insufficient, even if factually accurate, because of how I titled my stub edits.
- and
- 5) You're just pissed off because of something I said on my User talk page?
- As to 5, see my User talk page ... as to the rest, I do not see why this is even an issue any more! The edit no longer identifies the fifth slap as #5 and steps were taken with each edit to accommodate the respective criticisms. If I was wrong to try and work with others in order to put a FACT into this article while trying to figure out exactly how to word that entry, you and Eagle and 84 were wrong in simply undoing my edits. YOU should have worked WITH me to try and phrase the entry correctly while still mentioning the fact that Barney had been slapped a fifth time instead of simply deleting all mention of the fifth slap altogether. I believe the current edit takes that into consideration and should be fairly acceptable to you and others (who likely won't even see this discussion since 188's topic went for over three months without so much as a peep).
