I Want Home is a rock song by the English rock band Bee Gees, written by Barry Gibb and released early 1966 only in Australia.[1] Their last single on Leedon was not a hit, so the credit "Barry Gibb and the Bee Gees" used on the last several disks now reverted to simply "Bee Gees".[2] Its CD version was available on the compilation Brillant from Birth released only in Australia.
With these two songs the Bee Gees inaugurated Festival's new four-track recording equipment, If the master tapes are kept, stereo mixes would be possible, but instead only the mono mixdowns survived.
History
Promotional material for this single asks radio to play both sides, but "I Want Home" is listed first as it has the lower number matrix number, usually indicating the A-side, "I Want Home" was definitely not the old sound, the most thumping rock the group had ever done. The lead guitar is probably by Maurice Gibb, Colin Petersen thinks he played drums on these two songs.
