He lived in Italy, at times. He did not serve as director of the school in Düsseldorf continuously. Years spent in Italy include (approximations):

Improvements to his article should be installed. I have already removed the term "founded" and installed "directed" in its place. He was the second director of the school, not the founder. He improved the school; however, Peter von Cornelius was appointed as the first director by Frederick William III of Prussia. GhostofSuperslum 16:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
