The Kilkenny City by-election of 1880 was fought on 27 February 1880. The byelection was fought due to the resignation in order to contest Drogheda of the incumbent Home Rule MP, Benjamin Whitworth. It was won by the Home Rule candidate John Francis Smithwick.[1]
