Paperpile is a web-based commercial reference management software that is integrated with Google productivity software such as Google Docs and Google Scholar.[1][2][3][4] It was founded in 2012, and is now produced by Paperpile LLC.[5]
Paperpile imports data from many academic publisher's websites as well as from databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Google Books, and arXiv. For academic articles Paperpile automatically retrieves the full text PDF and syncs the PDF file to the user's Google Drive account. Paperpile allows users to organize their collected references in folders and subfolders, assign labels, add notes and attachments, and edit metadata associated with the references. Paperpile formats citations and bibliographies automatically in Google Docs enabling users to collaboratively write academic papers.
