Helen Keller Day
Hi! I've noticed that on 3 July 2014 you deleted a page "Helen Keller Day" as WP:G5 (creation by blocked user) [1]. I've also noticed that the WP:G5 policy says that pages may be deleted if they are created by "blocked users in violation of their ban or block, and which have no substantial edits by others". Now, this article was about an obviously notable topic (a US federal holiday), and it was created on or before 16 May 2013 [2]. Now, I'm wandering how is it possible that an article on such a notable topic was posted for more than a year, and it did not have any substantial edits by others except the original creator? I don't say that it's impossible, but I'd like to check that out. If I'm wrong, please excuse me, and do not take this as a criticism of your work. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:47, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
RfA
Hi. I'm sorry to have lost your support vote. I wonder if you might expand on what I was "flip-floppy" about in my responses. AFAIK, there was just the one question where I gave an off-the-cuff answer that turned out to be wrong. When I found that out, I admitted that I shouldn't have answered and that I was wrong.
If you could tell me which answers were shocking and made you think I was clueless (something I don't get called much), perhaps I can clarify or learn something. Here would be best – I've barred myself from any further rebuttal-level postings at the RfA since they are now automatically being viewed in the wrong light. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 08:24, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'd like to clarify that you shouldn't feel obligated to answer, and I understand if you don't. I'm sincerely not trying to pick fights or stir up trouble. Despite the way my rebuttals are being viewed, I do want to know when I'm wrong (or misunderstood to be). —[AlanM1(talk)]— 21:43, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

County Theater Page
Hello,
I would like you to un-delete the County Theater page that I created earlier today. As I explained in the Talk section (also now deleted) and the "contest deletion" sectiohn, I represent the organization that runs the County, which is also the copyright holder for the information used in the page. I am happy to jump through the crazy hoops set up by Wikipedia (including "donation" of the copyright, which I have already e-mailed to the permissions@wikimedia e-mail address), but I cannot do so with a deleted page.

Once I get a OTRS ticket number showing the permission to use the text, I might be able to restore the article. But there is several issues, especially conflict of interest, and your username which represents the group and needs to be changed. Please read that guideline. Secret account 17:28, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Given that I was only posting verifiable facts (not opinions) from a respected organization, I do not see how a reasonable person could claim conflict of interest. Part of my job is to make sure that information about the theater is easily accessible via the Internet - it is odd that a popular, 76-year-old historic community landmark does not already have a page. WikiCup 2014 August newsletter
The final of the 2014 WikiCup begins in a few short minutes! Our eight finalists are listed below, along with their placement in Round 4:
- Godot13 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer, finished top of Pool A and was the round's highest scorer. Godot is a featured picture specialist, claiming large numbers of points due to high-quality scans of historical documents, especially banknotes.
- Casliber (submissions) is a WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist every year since 2010. In the semi-final, he was Pool B's highest scorer. Cas's points primarily come from articles on the natural sciences.
- Czar (submissions) was Pool A's runner-up. Czar's points come mostly from content related to independent video games, including both articles and topics.
- Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Pool B's runner-up. Another featured picture specialist, many of Adam's points come from the restoration of historical media. He has been a WikiCup finalist twice before.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions) won the WikiCup in 2012 and 2013, and enters this final as the first wildcard. She focuses on biology-related articles, and has worked on several high-importance articles.
- 12george1 (submissions) is the second wildcard. George's points come primarily from meteorology-related articles. This year and last year, George was the first person in the competition to score.
- Sturmvogel 66 (submissions), the third wildcard, was the 2010 champion and a finalist last year. His writes mostly on military history, especially naval history.
- Bloom6132 (submissions), the fourth and final wildcard, has participated in previous WikiCups, but not reached any finals. Bloom's points are mostly thanks to did you knows, featured lists and good articles related to sport and national symbols.
We say goodbye to this year's semi-finalists. Matty.007 (submissions), ThaddeusB (submissions), WikiRedactor (submissions), Figureskatingfan (submissions), Yellow Evan (submissions), Prism (submissions) and Cloudz679 (submissions) have all performed well to reach this stage of the competition, and we hope they will all be joining us again next year.
There are two upcoming competitions unrelated to the WikiCup which may be of interest to those who receive this newsletter. The Stub Contest will run through September, and revolves around expanding stub articles, especially high-importance or old stubs. In addition, a proposal has been made for a new competition, the GA Cup, which the organisers plan to run next year. This competition is based on the WikiCup and aims to reduce the good article review backlog.
There is now a thread for brainstorming on how next year's WikiCup competition should work. Please come along and share your thoughts- What works? What doesn't work? What needs changing? Signups for next year's competition will be open soon; we will be in touch. If, at this stage of the competition, you are keen to help the with the WikiCup, please do what you can to participate in review processes. Our finalists will find things much easier if the backlogs at good article candidates, featured article candidates, featured picture candidates and the rest are kept at a minimum. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Don't you think that banning DirectKnowledge Indefinitely is too harsh? Yes, they wrote an article which I tagged for deletion as Spam (and was deleted as such), but that's all they've done and there's no indication (yet at least) that they are a 'repeat offender'. Does that warrant a block at all, let alone a permanent one? Wittylama 20:28, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
I don't block spammers right away for one offense unless the spam is so blatant that they are extremely unlikely to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. He's not opposed to being nominated but won't seek it himself. TParis raised the issue with him a year ago. Since February 2012 he's voted with the ultimate consensus 17 of 19 times at AfD/MfD. He's created 12 articles, only ten of which survive. He was blocked once in 2011. I'll defer to your expert judgement on his readiness. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:09, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

I was reporting a bug in the software, for which you blocked me
I reject your apology. You need to read WP:BITE. It is impossible to read that ANI discussion and come to the conclusion that I needed to be blocked. I was trying to report a bug in the software (and that bug report has been gratefully received) and noticed that the IP I was using was blocked for a long time and with account creation blocked. So I asked for advice about those blocks. Notice that I did not use the name of the blocking admin; notice that I did not claim the admin was abusin their tools; notice that I did not drag it out when I was told that the blocks were correct (but the wrong type of block). Thus I created two valid bug-reports that helped the project. You? You incorrectly blocked a good faith editor and you still think your oock was merely a minor error and that I did something that deserved blocking. Your non-apology is worse than nothing. It would be much better if you had not bothered apologising. (Finally no-one has explained how the first blocking admin had no way for me to leave a message on their talk page) Gustavail (talk) 10:23, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

I wasn't worried about AGK comments, (it was health biased) but I fucked up by blocking a new editor because I was stressed out at work and didn't read the circumstances properly. I realized I still can't separate my personal life and health with Wikipedia and I wouldn't elect myself to that position. Dennis or Worm, I hope you guys decide to run as this field is the weakest I have ever seen and I'm worried we wouldn't get enough seats to fill the position. Health and other factors can be a real bitch, but I hope that if you do some clerking you find that you are probably still a better candidate than many of those who haven't withdrawn. Summary deletion of List of chronologies of works of fiction
@Secret: Hi Administrator, may I please ask you to reconsider and have List of chronologies of works of fiction undeleted? This page was to be the main page of my category which I have proposed to rename Chronologies of works of fiction. Are you advocating that Wikipedia should not have a page (and a category) that groups together articles concerning timelines of artistic works of fiction ? May I please further invite you to view not only the discussion on the proposed deletion of Category:Chronology of Fictional Works (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2014_November_25#Category:Chronology_of_Fictional_Works), but also the very IMPORTANT prior discussion concerning the proposal to rename Category:Fictional timelines to Category:Chronology of Fictional Works (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2014_November_21), which should clarify why this new category (and page) is sorely needed on Wikipedia, so as to DIFFERENTIATE between in-world fictional timelines, and between timelines of artistic works of fiction. Joe Gatt (talk) 21:45, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm not restoring, it was a list of random links which had nothing to do with each other and qualified for speedy deletion as A1/A3, no content/explanation for the use of this list. I can't understand your explanation and it seems like it violates WP:NOT Secret account 22:44, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
@Secret: The links are not randomly selected, though perhaps I could have explained the point of the article better. The links satisfy 3 main conditions : They refer to pages which contain (1) a list (2) arranged in chronological order (3) of works of fiction. Additionally, there is no violation of WP:NOT or any other Wikipedia rules. Furthermore, lists of works have a place in Wikipedia, and indeed, Wikipedia already has a fair number of related lists and categories. Joe Gatt (talk) 18:26, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
AfD close
Hi Secret. I question your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Killing of Yehoshua Weisbrod. I do not believe it interpreted consensus in that discussion correctly. Perhaps you may wish to re-open it for further comment? Or, alternatively, reconsider the close? Best. --Epeefleche (talk) 23:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- Secret, I am here on the same errand as Epeefleche The event was covered widely in international media, had an impact described and sourced in the article on ensuing political, continued to be discussed in later years due to the notoriety of the perpetrator (as was documented in the article), raised a small diplomatic brouhaha due to violation of the terms of the Oslo Accords, and, in short, I hope that you will reconsider.ShulMaven (talk) 02:13, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Deletion review for Killing of Yehoshua Weisbrod
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Killing of Yehoshua Weisbrod. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.
Please restore the deleted page under review and replace the content with the {{TempUndelete}} template, leaving the history for review by non-admins. Epeefleche (talk) 00:26, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
name change?
Consider removing the "account" part in your signature. Having a secret account may be sockpuppetry and, therefore, usually not permitted. If your name is "secret", just leave it at that.
Analogies always are imperfect but consider this. What if your user name "I Like". Ok. But adding a signature line "I Like _ to kill and torture" would be wrong even if the user name is ok.
I have written to you in case you haven't thought of it. Have a nice day! Eating Glass Is Bad (talk) 16:13, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Please review
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Former Milwaukee Brewers minor league players. I left a clear note that because of the discussion I had fundamentally changed the page.
Pursuant to discussions above the page has been fundamentally changed. One of the reasons I prefer discussion to XfD... All the best
This means that all the previous arguments that were based on the page containing an explicit list were invalidated. Notably oone that was made two days after the change, based on the previous version of the page!
It is really important to pay attention to this stuff.
All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 00:20, 4 December 2014 (UTC).
3 of the delete arguments still agreed to hold their vote despite the change of the list, so there is consensus to delete that version of the article. Secret account 00:21, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Danny Choo notability
Hi Secret. I was looking at the history for the Danny Choo article in the interest of creating it and noticed it was SALTed by you due to the lack of notability back in 2008. Back then, the only article from any news source appeared to be a two minute CNN video. However, he has since then began directing TV show and he also appears to have received some Asian news coverage. I was just wondering if you think this deserves at least some discussion. Shrpsho0ter (talk) 05:06, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
I unsalted the article, if you have a version that he might meet WP:GNG, go ahead and write one. Thanks Secret account 19:32, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Does WP:BLP1E automatically render a new article, with substantial content from multiple reliable sources describing multiple dated events over a not insignificant time period & with contributions from more than 1 editor, a candidate for speedy deletion or deletion on sight, without any notice to the creator or tags or exploring other options, or preclude expansion on, say, her Mukti Bahini heroism which took place 30 years ago etc. etc. ? - Please discuss this today. Your silence is unacceptable. Indohispano (talk) 07:57, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, I saw the deletion of this pop-up on my watchlist, and did a quick check and found Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United States Basketball Association from 2010, where I opined the article should be kept and expanded but needed a big rewrite, mostly to include the prior league by the same name. Would you mind userifying to me to see I can't make it a worthwhile entry? Cheers.--Milowent • hasspoken 21:47, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
I userfied it User:Milowent/United States Basketball Association. I don't see any mention of the previous league in the article and it needs a total rewrite. As you could tell, this version doesn't meet any standards. Secret account 21:54, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Secret. I question your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Netanel Arami. I do not believe it interpreted consensus in that discussion correctly. Perhaps you may wish to re-open it for further comment? Or, alternatively, reconsider the close? WikiCup 2015 is just around the corner...
Hello everyone, and may we wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2015 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. We have a few important announcements concerning the future of the WikiCup.
- We would like to announce that Josh (J Milburn) and Ed (The ed17), who have been WikiCup judges since 2009 and 2010 respectively, are stepping down. This decision has been made for a number of reasons, but the main one is time. Both Josh and Ed have found that, over the previous year, they have been unable to devote the time necessary to the WikiCup, and it is not likely that they will be able to do this in the near future. Furthermore, new people at the helm can only help to invigorate the WikiCup and keep it dynamic. Josh and Ed will still be around, and will likely be participating in the Cup this following year as competitors, which is where both started out.
- In a similar vein, we hope you will all join us in welcoming Jason (Sturmvogel 66) and Christine (Figureskatingfan), who are joining Brian (Miyagawa) to form the 2015 WikiCup judging team. Jason is a WikiCup veteran, having won in 2010 and finishing in fifth this year. Christine has participated in two WikiCups, reaching the semi-finals in both, and is responsible for the GA Cup, which she now co-runs.
- The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. While it may be impossible to please everyone, the judges will make every effort to ensure that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
