Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mirage Records, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages The System and Shannon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A Page Forever Editing

Rose_Venkatesan seems to always edit conflict. I'm not enough of a wikipedian to fix that. Hoping you'll take a look.

It seems as though two of your edits were successful. Did you achieve all the changes you wanted to make? The article isn't locked, so it should be available to edit again. Let me know if you continue to have problems. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 00:49, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Transphobic 'include dead name' movement

Could you poke your nose into Rose Venkatesan please?

An editor's been going around adding dead names. Someone's been pulling them, using a sockpuppet (not me). I've pulled a few, as well, but it needs a new policy, really, and again I'm not willing to become an experienced wikipedia editor just to prevent this site from harassing my friends.

Thanks Anniepoo (talk) 22:58, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi. It looks like a Wikipedia admin has already taken measures to prevent this abuse, temporarily locking down the article. I'll put it on my watchlist, just in case. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 06:10, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Follow-up thoughts: Since the lock expires after a week, consensus and civility will need to be achieved sooner rather than later. With that in mind, I took a look at how we achieved this in the past. It looks like the MOS:IDENTITY guideline has been altered since we last visited this issue back in 2008. As it is currently worded, it does not come right out and restrict the use of dead names. Even so, I think that is a reasonable application of the guideline. I'm not sure why they took out the specific language pertaining to names (as opposed to just pronouns). I suspect perhaps that recent media events may have precipitated this. It's a weaker, less clear guideline as it stands now, but the spirit is still there. Moreover, I would think that the presumption in favor of privacy should be enough to rule out the use of the dead name in this case. And that's actual policy, not just a guideline. It applies to the cisgendered as well as the transgendered (cf. Devin K. Grayson). I think I will drop a note of my opinion on the article's talk page. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 07:07, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Happening again:

Could you poke your nose into Rose Venkatesan again? persistant dead-name adder has reappeared. thanks --Anniepoo (talk) 17:54, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Re: Defries or DeFries

Hello, I looked at the LinkedIn profile you provided and it does indeed look like Defries prefers the less-capitalised variant of his name. Thanks for having spent time looking into this, I had originally just read a biography and went on Wikipedia thinking his name was presented incorrectly.

Help with vandal

Hi GentlemanGhost,

I frequent a few pages, update, do that sort of thing for music profiles, from MIA to U2 and a few producers. Noticed that the Griffin Guess user page is constantly vandalized by the same non contributor user IP address. Its obvious its someone who is constantly vandalizing the account to maliciously target Mr. Guess and any functioning facts of his bio. Since I'm not as savvy as you to file a formal complaint to block this person(s). Please let me know if you by chance would kindly find the time to do so. I've reset the page officially today -- many thanks.

I don't know, your sockpuppetry seems pretty savvy to me. The best recommendation that I can make is to try to achieve some consensus on the article's talk page, rather than reverting edits ad nauseum. As a last resort, you can try dispute resolution. I'd follow some of the helpful links people have left on your talk page, particularly about reliable sources. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 18:52, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
