Archiving one's talk page

Hi Edward Mordake. I wondered if you wanted to consider archiving your Talk page discussions instead of just deleting them wholesale? As you may know the guideline for Talk page material is to not delete them. There is some useful information at Help:Archiving a talk page which you might find useful. Repeatedly blanking one's Take page certainly avoids clutter, but it does have the disadvantage of suggesting to other editors that a discussion they have had, even one that may have extended across several days, has been a complete waste of time. Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:52, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article talk pages and addressing COI issues

HI Edward Mordake. I work a lot on COI issues in WP. I appreciate your interest in managing conflicted editing in Wikipedia, and I understand your frustration with regard to dealing with advocacy from paid editors.

That said:

  • Do not refactor other people's comments on talk pages, as Vanadmonde warned you here.
  • Per WP:TPG, article talk pages are for discussing changes to the article. Issues with editor behavior are handled elsewhere -- first at the user's talk page, then at a relevant community board. This is described in WP:CONDUCTDISPUTE. Please read that and follow that.
  • Please be careful with regard to how you go about addressing BC1278's behavior. People can get too emotional, and too personal when doing this, and if you cannot follow the policies and guidelines with regard to your own behavior, you may face sanctions yourself. The community has had to take such actions in the past.

I am writing here only about your behavior. If you wish to reply, please focus on that as well. Again, I do appreciate your desire to manage paid editing. Jytdog (talk) 20:01, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jytdog: Thank you. Don't worry. He repeatedly posted a wall of text, I moved my own stuff to the bottom of the page and left his in the section above but he just kept posting it so I gave up. I'm gonna ignore him for a while now, dealing with paid editors is frustrating indeed. Edward Mordake (talk) 20:05, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
great, thanks. Jytdog (talk) 20:20, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
