Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs

I like to suggest to have Political section of the Wikipedia to move up above Wresting Section to allow easier Wikipedia and wresting sections + wresting info box to spited. A more better picture and Page of him being a Mayor (Not in WWE) title changes to his real name Glenn Jacobs (Not Kane (Wrestler) since hes a Mayor now. Thanks Political and Wresting Wiki Editors. @David O. Johnson: @Galatz: Colton Meltzer (talk) 04:31, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm against moving the political section before the wrestling section for chronology issues. He's been wrestling since 1992, his political section begins with supporting Ron Paul in 2008. It may be WP:TOOSOON to discuss moving the article to Glenn Jacobs but it's something we'll probably have to think about at some point. I do agree with the picture though. I'd recommend File:Glenn Jacobs & Cliff Maloney (35617397504) (cropped).png or File:Glenn Jacobs by Gage Skidmore 2.jpg.LM2000 (talk) 04:49, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@LM2000: i think this page also need be Extended Protected soon (The Blue Lock) , lot of vandalism riot to Political section of the page almost similar to Donald Trump page? Colton Meltzer (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Colton Meltzer: At this point he is much more well known as a wrestler than a mayor of a small county. He was elected by 66k people as opposed to watched by millions over the years. He is definitely more well known for his time as Kane than anything else. Check out WP:COMMONNAME. If you think it needs protection, those requests go at WP:RPP. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 12:58, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Galatz: I understand, but he putting his wresting career behind him to first do his Mayor role for Knox County in recent his Mayor-elect Speech. Since he said that, i would put move the Political section above Professional Wresting Section of Glenn Jacobs Wikipedia page as the Political section will be more actively work on than the Wresting section. Plus, Rename the big title Kane (wrestler) back to Glenn Jacobs.
Oh yea Glenn Jacobs Political party is in the Republican Party, and the Libertarian Party. [1] Colton Meltzer (talk) 00:17, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sections should be ordered by chronology. See Jesse Ventura as an example: First wrestling, then acting, then politics.LM2000 (talk) 05:23, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Galatz: Just because he said that, its meaningless. That doesn't change what he is most well known for. Outside of professional wrestling fans and the people of knox county, no one knows he is the mayor. Plenty of people outside of those have heard of Kane and are aware of that. That is why the article should stay as is. If he were to continue in politics and become governor or senator, maybe the page name would need a move, but as is, no. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 12:58, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Only putting Political Section above Wresting Section temporarily until he no longer Mayor so that good. Colton Meltzer (talk) 20:50, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kane (wrestler)Glenn Jacobs – Getting this out of the way. Jacobs is currently best known for portraying a popular wrestling character, and the article of course still focuses on that character, but now that he has won political office the article will need to cover that as well. Therefore, the article title should reflect that scope, and not only his career portraying a character. 50.248.234.77 (talk) 00:45, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Its not about Crystal Balls or CommonName, local sources stated his name is Glenn Jacobs as Knox County Mayor not Kane. Political does not work with "pretend" (or characters name). Beside this Mayor is on temporary thingy (4 year or more up to 8 years). If he returns back Wresting we can revert the name back)  Colton Meltzer (talk) 20:37, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
yes it is. Jacobs is best know for his time as pro wrestler under the ringname of Kane, so Kane its the common name. We dont know if he will become best known as Glen Jacobs because his work as mayor. Its not about his current name, its about his common name, like Edge. He is credited in Vikings as Adam Copeland, but he his best known as
Actually it is completely and solely about that, because those are wikipedia policies. Local government is not - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 20:57, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Article Split this is a great place to set a new precedent on how to deal with professional wrestling. The detailed on-screen details can be in an article here on his wrestling persona, his actual bio can be titled Glenn Jacobs and be about his entire life (with a WP:DUE coverage of his wrestling career, probably 3-4 paragraphs TOTAL). power~enwiki (π, ν) 22:12, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support article split per Power. — Dale Arnett (talk) 22:27, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I oppose to article split. In the project we talked about how to reduce the in-universe aspect of the articles. I don't think an article split it's the solution. First, Jacobs worked for 30 years as pro wrestler, it's insane to reduce an entire career to 3-4 paragraphs. Second, what about other wrestler? Should we split Bret Hart (person) and Bret Hart (Wrestling character)? Or Hulk Hogan/Terry Bollea? Roddy Piper/Roderick Toombs? Or the former Governor Jese Ventura? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:50, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move September 2, 2018

This article should be moved to Glenn Jacobs, as he is now a mayor and that is his primary occupation. David O. Johnson (talk) 04:22, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@David O. Johnson: i completely agree it should be renamed regardless to his mayor name and his Kane is known to be secondary now regardless. You can try attempt again to get the page move to rightful name which is Glenn Jacobs. It just doesn't mater sense to have Mayor Name Kane when its display 10)% Glenn Jacobs. Colton Meltzer (talk) 01:20, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This was discussed previously and consensus was reached to keep the page as is. It should also be noted that Antonio Inoki (Kanji Inoki), Jesse Ventura (James Janos) etc. have kept their wrestling names (and their wikipedia page names) long into their political stints. Many more wrestlers went into acting (The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper etc.) and their wikipedia pages reflect their commonly known-by names rather than birth names. BBX118 10:55, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Antonio Inoki and Jesse Ventura both used their professional names when going into politics, unlike Kane/Glen Jacobs. The Rock's article actually uses his birth name, Dwayne Johnson, as this is how he is best known to the world. And Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper have never achieved (or attempted to achieve) notability under their birth names so naturally their articles are not titled "Terry Gene Bollea" and "Roderick Toombs". WP:COMMONNAME absolutely applies though, Glen Jacobs has had an international television career as Kane. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 00:49, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 30 September 2018

Is there by any chance if someone can remove "semi-retired"? Because I looked some info and it has no info about him conforming his retirement from wrestling, he was only taken out of action due to an injury and he is still active in wrestling. 2600:1000:B03A:6169:1138:FA07:1E73:F32C (talk) 05:15, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done - Nothing in the article specifically states Jacobs is "semi-retired" from wrestling. Additionally, the term "semi-retired" is extremely vague when applied to wrestling, a business in which some of the biggest names are not on the road full-time and veterans often perform (in some capacity) into their 60s. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 20:16, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like either the semi-retired thing. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:28, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also hate it. It's WP:OR.LM2000 (talk) 23:27, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
