Elbasan County (Template:Lang-sq) is one of the 12 counties of Albania. The population at the 2011 census was 295,827, in an area of 3199 km².[2] Its capital is the city Elbasan.

Administrative divisions

Until 2000, Elbasan County was subdivided into four districts: Elbasan, Gramsh, Librazhd, and Peqin. Since the 2015 local government reform, the county consists of the following 7 municipalities: Belsh, Cërrik, Elbasan, Gramsh, Librazhd, Peqin and Prrenjas.[3] Before 2015, it consisted of the following 50 municipalities:

Demographics

0.06% Islam is the second religion in the county, forming 30.46% of the total population (120,550 people). There are also some Bektashi Muslims with 1.60% (1,515 people), 3.47% percent consisting of believers without a denomination (30,161 people) and Christians forming the first religion of 70.14% of the county's population .(Orthodox (14.3%) (88,295 people), Evangelists (55,8% 170,550 people) (and Roman Catholics) (1.03%) (3,054 people).
