Negar Mortazavi (born 1981 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian-American journalist covering Iran in English and Persian. She is a frequent commentator on Iran at MSNBC,[1] BBC,[2] PRI,[3] New York Times,[4] Aljazeera,[5] Huffington Post,[6] and international outlets in Lebanon, Iraq, Israel, Turkey, Switzerland, and Japan.[citation needed]

Mortazavi was born and raised in Iran and moved to the US in 2002 to continue her studies. She has a Master of Arts from Brandeis University and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Massachusetts.[7] She worked as a TV presenter at Voice of America Persian where she hosted a daily show that discussed current affairs with Iranians.[8] In 2014, she worked for National Iranian American Council (NIAC) as director of Persian & new media[7] for six months.
