lists

I'm just throwing it in here, and it's a wellknown discussion on wikipedia, but do we really NEED (or want) a FULL list of features? In a way there's actually TWO lists. Most singles don't have their own page, and some ARTISTS don't even have a page of their own. If Scoop's bread and butter is to play second fiddle to people, it kinda feels wrong to cut a list of what he does, but at the same time it's VERY niche. The artists he featured on have shorter lists of singles than this dude.

Surely having both lists is overkill. First the singles and then the artists by name. Seeing he's mainly a one off for most of these names, rather than a recurring guest, I'm going with singles, and cutting the artists list. 87.211.83.160 (talk) 07:58, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DOB

As far as I can see, only the NYT is saying that he was 56 - all other sources say 53. IMO the variance belongs in a footnote rather than in the prominent infobox and lead - at least until and unless a change is being published by other sources. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 04:42, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CNN also says he was 56. It may also be worth noting that, as far as I can tell, the only sources currently giving full birth date are the NYT (August 6, 1968) and Deadline (August 6, 1971). All others give an age without indicating the date or year of birth; the fact that the NYT, claiming 56, is one of the only two sources so far to print a DoB is the main reason I've taken it more seriously as an outlier than I might have otherwise. Sunshineisles2 (talk) 05:21, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On further thought, after looking at the current balance of sources, I agree that it would make most sense to go with 1971 as the primary claim for now and add a footnote explaining. I went ahead and added this. Sunshineisles2 (talk) 06:26, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks. It's just possible that NYT has found a correct record that others haven't, or it could be a simple typo. I think it's worth repeating the 1971 DOB in the first section though, before the note. It looks a bit odd with no date there at all, and some won't bother to read the footnote. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 07:04, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it to the first section. I'll also try and keep an eye out for coverage which reports his age/date of birth and see if there are any changes. Sunshineisles2 (talk) 14:39, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note that the IMDb was giving 1971 on 2024-09-01 11:47 UTC, but currently gives 1968 on 2024-09-02 09:35 UTC. Not sure what can be deduced from that. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 09:38, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've also noticed that Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter have now changed its article to say he was 56 and born in 1968. Variety has now done the same [EDIT: Actually all but one source in the footnote which gave his age as 53 have now changed]. I am now changing the article to lead with saying he was 56 and have the footnote instead reflect that some sources earlier claimed he was 53, but that multiple outlets which have initially reported his age as 53 have now changed this. Sunshineisles2 (talk) 19:13, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've corrected 2 access-date parameters of sources that were updated. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 02:52, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
