Season 8

Why does Wikipedia call it season 8 while everywhere else it is called season 11? 2001:861:8AC5:3570:E4F9:A9C1:BDC9:85CA (talk) 16:32, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Nona di Sparagement"

It was previously established that Nona di Sparagement (a very obvious pun on "non-disparagement") is a pseudonym for Ken Keeler. Why can't we add that? - Jasonbres (talk) 03:26, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reliable secondary source that cites this? -- Alex_21 TALK 05:58, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are if anyone wants to dig them up. Patric M. Verrone refers to "How the West Was 1010001" being written by Ken Keeler in a Futurama panel available on YouTube from 2023. Unfortunately I can't find the video currently.
Additionally, there are multiple interviews where David X. Cohen refers to "Otherwise" being written by Ken Keeler because he always writes their finales.
I'm afraid I don't have the time to find them currently but if anyone wants to, this might help them on their search. Omega cyber turnip (talk) 15:58, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is really two parts?

"The One Amigo" has the production code 9AVC01 - so its now a completely separate production line (2023's episodes were from 8AVCxx) which is a completely different situation to past seasons where they all came from one production season. So... should "Part 2" be split off into a Season 9 article? - Riggleby (talk) 05:14, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see no issue with that. -- Alex_21 TALK 10:46, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't two parts.
It was never two parts.
It was announced as an order of 20 episodes. Initial reporting assumed it would work the same way as production seasons 6 and 7 but this was a complete assumption. Numerous sources online echoed this without doing due diligence to confirm it was how it was going to work (because the average person obviously doesn't care what season number Futurama uses).
Production staff have been saying they're separate seasons for months. A director of the show said as much on various Reddit threads back in September. Patric M. Verrone said as much at a Futurama panel at a fan convention. Now the production codes confirm this.
I attempted to make the change in September and it was reverted because Reddit and a YouTube video weren't deemed credible sources. I attempted to make the change earlier today and it was reverted because "there's already a consensus" on the matter.
With the production codes being separate, this isn't even a matter of opinion. It's just cut and dry two separate production seasons and they should be listed separately as a result. Omega cyber turnip (talk) 15:54, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And on that note, the same applies to production seasons ten and eleven which have been commissioned for 2025 and 2026. They're currently being treated on here as "production season nine that will be split into two broadcast seasons" but this is a complete assumption based on this misunderstanding about seasons 8 and 9.
All of the official press releases on the subject of the two upcoming seasons has referred to them as two separate seasons. Omega cyber turnip (talk) 15:56, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

9th Production Season

Notice that the first episode of season 8 part 2 or broadcast season 12 has a 9ACV01 production code. If anything, I think this article should split due to this distinction. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 18:14, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even this WGA article thought it was the ninth season.[1] It was wrong though. The show is still in fact in its eighth production season and continuing its recent tradition of spliting its seasons into two 10 episode halves.Speakfor23 (talk) 18:30, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I theorize that the WGA strike resulted in production splitting in half, with this the supposed second half of production season 8 became the ninth production season. Even if it was intended as the eighth production season originally, I think this article should still split given the status quo. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 18:36, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, if you're gonna go by the production codes logic that have been applied since the digital release and known order of the show by the producers, it's fair to split. Otherwise it would be just nitpicking. The reality these days, besides certain bad operators like Netflix, is that shows have less amount of episodes ordered per season each time. 167.60.146.133 (talk) 18:47, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not wrong. There's absolutely nothing to suggest this is continuing the previous tradition of splitting production seasons in two beyond people just assuming that would be the case when the 20-episode order was announced and then people parroting their misinformation.
The show's official press releases, the show's staff and, indeed, the show's own credits all treat this as two separate production seasons and these articles should be split accordingly. Omega cyber turnip (talk) 22:34, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt anyone was intentionally saying the wrong thing previously, it wasn't until the episode was released and there was concrete information that they were actually separate seasons. Unfortunately, even people that produce the show can say incorrect things so we cannot take it as the absolute truth just because they say so. The show has always been separated out by the production seasons, so it just makes sense to do it now.
Also, you'll find that now 9AVC01 has released, no one is disagreeing with splitting it now either. So you can calm down a little too. Riggleby (talk) 05:25, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given that there's support for a split, it needs to be done properly, and made into a valid article that meets GNG, and has the correct attributions when copying content. -- Alex_21 TALK 07:14, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a duplicate discussion to the one above. -- Alex_21 TALK 21:10, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did see you agree with this Alex. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 23:30, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Impossible Stream

[[The Impossible Stream]] is being created by me, I think we should give its own article, anyone's welcome to contribute to the draft. Jediknight15 (talk) 09:50, 30 July 2024 (UTC) The Impossible Stream https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Impossible_Stream[reply]
