What is the difference between future and past?

Is the only difference between future and past is that we can remember past, but cannot remember future? 93.178.119.100 (talk) 19:25, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Has a lot of bells and whistles, but still a Stub in terms of content.

Discussion

Hmmm. How do we know that the past exists? In reality, the past is just the present that is no more, so how can it be if it no longer is?

The past is just a construct in our minds. Hence it is always changing as we rebuild it with every new experience

The past does exist

The past is a mind category that we use and a thing that doesn't quite exist as a tangible thing but it exists nonetheless, it's just that humans are time constrained in the time continuum. And we don't change the past, we think we do, put what we change is our impression of the past. Not the past itself. --Rodrigo Cornejo 01:32, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The past is not only mind category, but also a physical one. What scientific source does deny the physical existence of the Past? гык 11:10, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't we include the past-related things into their category?

The past is the object of such fields as history, archaeology, archaeoastronomy, historical linguistics, geology (historical geology), paleontology, paleobotany, paleoethnobotany, palaeogeography, paleoclimatology, cosmology

– or rather, their categories should be included, if they exist.

Also: memory, retro, antiquarian, fossil, history.

Is it alright to call past the "opposite of future"? 59.184.252.69 (talk) 18:43, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New "light cone" image

We have prepared a new "light cone" image. The intention was to imply the correct scale of space-time relative to the observer. Interstellar light-years vs years scales seemed appropriate. If you have any comments please post them at the Graphics Lab entry. Dhatfield (talk) 22:37, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

memories

The memories of j.k.rowling is what she left and did not include her past but only memories i think she should have so we can remember her for rememberance also so we can change the better and have the better in projects about her —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.158.6.106 (talk) 23:00, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Memory as a field of study

The article says that the past is an important topic of study in fields such as..and then includes "memory" in the list. I was unaware memory is a field of study (the psychology of memory is). Vorbee (talk) 19:39, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
