DYK for Durrës Expedition

On 29 August 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Durrës Expedition, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Durrës Expedition in 1376 saw Louis of Évreux successfully recapture Durrës from Karl Thopia, only for Thopia to reclaim the city in 1383? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Durrës Expedition. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Durrës Expedition), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I recognize that you have been editing Balkan topics for some time now, but wanted to make sure that you were fully aware of the existing provisions that are in force. signed, Rosguill talk 15:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Albanian Orthodox Church

Mirembrâma vella,

I see that you've recently made some edits on articles regarding the Orthodox Church of Albania. I've looked for a map or a list that lists all churches under the jurisdiction under the AOC, but I haven't found one. Certain articles have some double standarts. For instance, all Serbian Orthodox Churches in Kosovo are described as such, even if built by the Byzantines or Romans. However, some articles [1] [2] regarding Orthodox Churches in Albania suddenly state "Eastern Orthodox" or "Byzantine Church". That's why I've been looking for a specific list (an official one by the AOC) that would confirm that. Let me know if you know more.

T'fala. AlexBachmann (talk) 20:09, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So you need help finding a list of all the church's under the jurisdiction of the Albanian Orthodox Church? Arberian2444 (talk) 02:48, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, if you happen to have one. AlexBachmann (talk) 22:19, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't currently have that but I will start looking and let you know if I find one! Arberian2444 (talk) 22:36, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It’s hard tho, I haven’t found anything. But feel free to contact me if you find one. AlexBachmann (talk) 00:23, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes will do. Arberian2444 (talk) 01:09, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
