NOVA

You are welcome! :)

There are many more articles that need to be marked - particularly municipality articles (individual municipalities in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, etc) - Also schools and school districts need to be marked too! WhisperToMe (talk) 20:37, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for all your help!
This user is being thanked for their contributions to the Northern Virginia Task Force. Thank you!

VDOT

I don't think that The NOVA task force should really be concerned with the VDOT article. It does not relate specifically to Northern Virginia. The page is a mess though, you're right. Try posting it on the main page for WP:Virginia. It would definitely get more attention there anyway. -BLM Platinum (talk) 00:26, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not so sure that it does not concern the NOVA region, for it maintains all of the roads around and has orchestrated many mega-projects such as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge or the Springfield mixing bowl. There are also specific tasks that stem from NOVA. I'm for leaving it and hoping that someone can help. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:31, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Alright, but I would recommend putting it on the WikiProject Virginia main page as well. -BLM Platinum (talk) 00:37, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:41, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

School board members and some of your other suggestions probably wouldn't meet notability. I got a ton of crap about notability regarding the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (as exampled here), and unfortunately, I don't think I can justify the notability of city council members for places like Alexandria.

The navbox is a place to list NoVa politicians, and I think that we should do just that. The "Other" section may be out of place, but I think that the BoS part is appropriate. –BLM Platinum (talk) 00:48, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

No, no, no I wasn't saying that you were debating the notability of the BoS members. I was saying that I couldn't prove the notability of some of the people that you suggested. And I still think that the BoS section is necessary, but if you want to compromise, then I can take Sharon Bulova (chair) and Linda Smyth (vice chair), and place them in a recreated "local government leaders" section along with William Euille. –BLM Platinum (talk) 01:00, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to redo my edits in so many tiny increments, but I wanted to be clear with what each was doing so you would not en mass revert again. Are you really ok with unsourced sentences like "It is a neighborhood of walkers, joggers, and bicyclists, known for its friendliness and its profusion of crepe myrtles." or "This can be explained by a large population of mostly older (60+) rich, white government workers migrating to the city after gentrification offered luxury condos for a fraction of the price at which they would normally be valued."? ALXVA (talk) 01:37, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

And I added cn tags to specific sentences that I think should go sooner rather than later (actually, that I think should alrady be gone, but you reverted) unless sourced. You are right, though, much additional referencing needs to be done. ALXVA (talk) 01:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to give you the cold shoulder. The first sentience mentioned is really crap. The second sentience may not be really true, but it is true that there are a lot of Govenment workers, rich people, and poor people. Consensus has generally dictated that the state govt people are included briefly, so I will RV that and add the two people you mentioned. The "Neighborhoods" section is really new, so it is still under major work. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 01:47, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
No problem, it was just frustrating to get accused of making POV edits for removing sentences as bad as that (and other sentences challenged for months without a source) in one revert that also reverted clearly non-debateable, helpful edits. As for referencing the gov, I dont see that on the Arlington County, Virginia, Fairfax, Virginia, or Fairfax County, Virginia articles (though Arlington does mention how much Webb carried the couty by). It seems odd to have that mentioned, unless there is going to be a tie-in to the city itself (election percentage, residence, etc.). Otherwise, where does one draw the line, state supreme court? President? ALXVA (talk) 01:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Latin America

Please READ the sources first then send me your warning, if you insist to revert my reversion I'll report your vandalisme, my reversion is the correct data according the source [1] that it was vandalised time ago. The correcting version is registered in the history of the page. --187.146.58.83 (talk) 22:40, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi! - A few things:
  • The source being used is the CIA world Fact book - A trusted source. The source that you linked to in the text is the homepage of a website that I do not see the source in. Both Africans and Mulattoes are discussed in the text below.
  • The source that you gave me above is in Spanish (and is not the source that you included). Generally we want the sources for the English Wikipedia to be in English.
  • You added a section on the differences between race and ethnicity - While this may belong at those articles it does not belong at Latin America
  • You seem to want to differentiate between the American definition of "white" and the "Criollos" that is why the page is linked to White Latin American
  • Please keep things alphabatized, it is just easier.
  • You copied the standard twinkle Vandal message (including the (TW)), so I reverted because you were trying to impersonate reverting to another revision, but did not. Please just tell what you are doing.
If you have any questions, please just drop me a note here. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 01:05, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Reston

Happy to chat with you. No worries. This relates to Reston, Virginia, and whether it is not appropriate to add Lloyd R. Woodson as a notable resident to the Reston page. You indicated that you live in Northern Virginia and have not seen any news about him. I don't know what news your read and watch, but among other RSs he has been discussed by ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, NBC, UPI, The Baltimore Sun, The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Forbes, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Post, The New York Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, the St. Petersburg Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, USA Today, Associated Press, Fairfax Times, Stars and Stripes, CSP TV, News 12 Networks, and WHSV-TV. Wolf Blitzer and Rick Sanchez raised it on their national talk shows. My understanding was that if a person were notable (which could be demonstrated by the existence of a wikipedia article with 50-60 refs, among other things, and the person lived in a location for a period of time as reported by RSs (and here it was his most recent residence), it was appropriate to reflect them. The two points you raise are 1) that you never heard of him (but perhaps you didn't read/watch the above papers/TV shows), and 2) the time of his residence in Reston (where it was his last residence, I don't know that to be reason for excluding him from the list, but would be happy to hear your thoughts, see your links to guidelines, and reconsider. I apologize for the vandal edit -- I have a wikihounder who has been following me around and reverting me and AfD'ing articles I create with abandon, and may have reverted your edit w/that edit summary as I was reverting a slew of his edits the nature of which I had already discussed with him, and which I believe rose to the level of vandalism (deletes can be vandalism, per wp definition). Please feel free to respond here -- I will watch this page for your response. Best wishes for a happy Sunday.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm not questioning his notability, I am just wondering if he is notable in Reston -- I've probably seen something about him, but I just don't remember. If you wish you can add him back in on the Reston Page, however, after reading the article I did not find that he was particularly notable to Reston, and as I pointed out he lived there for only one year. If we had everyone who has a WP article on that list then it would be very long and bloated, so personally I would just use Category:People from Reston, Virginia (which is already on the article). However, again, it is your choice, and if you want him on the Reston page, that is perfectly fine. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:31, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll hold off on taking you up on your offer until we see the result of the AfD. I think that if you look at notability lists in general, the test is whether the person is notable, not whether their notability relates to the locale. Thus, notable person x, born in place b, living in place c, will typically be on notability lists for both his birthplace (even if he moved from there at age 2) and most recent place he was living, while he engaged in his most notable activities. That's what I believe I've seen as the convention, at least. Where people feel that the notability list gets too long, they make it into a separate article, but I believe that the leaning is towards inclusion. That's all aside from the cats ... people on notability lists are typically reflected in both (that should probably be automated, one day). But people on notability lists may be redlinked -- in which event, obviously, they cannot be reflected in cats, as there would be no article to reflect.--Epeefleche (talk) 00:40, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks so much for the cookie. I'm going to go to the fridge right now for some milk ... just what I need! BTW, I could tell you were annoyed, but I don't think incorrectly so (per my above explanation and apology), and my personal wikihounder has perhaps thickened my skin in any event. A pleasure chatting with you. There are so many editors whose hearts are not in making the project better, but in being annoying to others and tearing down the work of others, that I understand your initial response, and value your reasonableness. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 00:44, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello again. I had indicated where some dead links are in the Reston article, and see you have cleaned up by deleting them. That's how I would have initially reacted myself, but let me explain how it works. A bot comes by, and (where it can) repairs the dead links, by replacing them. Therefore, it is suggested in various places that dead links be flagged (as I had done), rather than replaced. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 21:51, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

I originally deleted 3 links. After Scouring the web a little more, I found a source for one of them. As for the other two, one is Identical to a new link below it. The other one I deleted links to a Parked Domain. Parked domains can be dangerous and should not be linked to per WP:EL. It would be nice to have that link back, because it is a nice thing to see a community about 30 years ago (especially one with explosive growth like Reston). I tried looking around on the web, but nobody has another copy of this picture, (and lots of people linked to that site). The best possibility I have found is here. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:22, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha. Nice work. If you leave that last one as a dead link, the bot will see if it can somehow find a suitable replacement ... and over time, it may! Your call, of course. BTW, I see another editor has weighed in restoring Woodson (who you know is up at AfD), which I assume from the above is fine w/you. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:01, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
I found the other picture at webarchive.org! Thanks for prodding me to find those links; sometimes with external links I sometimes use an axe when I should use a scalpel. As for Woodson, I saw that BLM restored the link, and that is fine. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:46, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Woodson

Thanks for your extremely thoughtful and well-articulated opinion at the AfD. Well done.--Epeefleche (talk) 16:24, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't want to encumber the AfD page w/the related non-AfD naming discussion, but--just to share a thought. The strict constructionists (and I think they are correct) would say that BLP concerns remain the same whether the living person is discussed in a bio or in someone else's bio or in a non-bio. In other words, if we write "person x is a liar, thief, and has AIDS", it matters not whether we say it in an article entitled "Person X" or "Event Y".--Epeefleche (talk) 21:58, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I was talking about BLP1E, I guess I should have been more specific. I was thinking about having to deal with people (continuing) to say that this person is only notable for one event, and instead have an article about one notable event. The notability standards were the only things that I was talking about. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:24, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Understood. And were the vote not where it is, I would see that as a helpful way perhaps to get over the hump. But, given the emphatic rejection at the AfD of the effort to delete, I think there's no need any longer to worry about BLP1E being misrepresented in an effort to delete the article.--Epeefleche (talk) 22:29, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Washington Metro Area

I think it is interesting to list the sister cities, since most metropolitan areas have only one set of sister cities, but not that necessary.--Old Guard (talk) 03:25, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

AfD for A Field Guide to Dinosaurs

Wesley J M please, don't delete my article, A Field Guide To Dinosaurs: The Essential Handbook For Travelers In The Mesozoic. I beg of you! 10:12, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Please see and contribute to the debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A Field Guide To Dinosaurs: The Essential Handbook For Travelers In The Mesozoic. Your comments are welcome there. It appears that if the article is to be kept, it needs to be changed significantly. Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 17:43, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Game article

Fifty-two Thirty, Fendov here. My 1st article for the first Monday Night Football game was rejected. I have a new article that is more concise and, I believe, relevant. This is for the 1961 NFL Championship game which already has a page dedicated, 1961 NFL Championship game, but is currently little more than a stats page. Could you take the time to look at my user page fendov, and tell me what you think. This article is well in line with other Championship/Super Bowl synopsis and I will include references, before submission, if it is more likely to be accepted. Thank You, Dean-oFendov (talk) 18:53, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I made the changes as suggested and submitted the srticle within the current page and included references

Speedy deletion contested: Downham Market Leisure Centre

Hello Fiftytwo thirty. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Downham Market Leisure Centre, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not an unambiguous copyright infringement, or there is other content to save. Thank you. Theleftorium 10:26, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I see that the copyvio has been fixed. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 14:16, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

SNL season 36

I ceated the new season to be put into place, since the current season is ending soon i thought we could pull all the info for the next season together as it comes in. I put links into support when the first episode of the season will be. I do not understand what is wrong with the page. User:Water78 Water78 (talk)

I removed the Proposed Deletion, but please familiarize yourself with what Wikipedia is not, especially WP:CRYSTAL. Just because a TV show will start in five months does not mean that it needs a page. I would not create this page for another few months. The reference that you supplied also does not document the start of the new season. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Robinsonekspedisjonen 2003

Hi, Munch here! I'm just here to tell you that Expedition Robinson 2003 and Robinsonekspedisjonen 2003 are not the same show. I've done my research on this and Expedition Robinson is the Swedish version of the show while Robinsonekspedijonen is the Norwegian version.-Munch60477 (talk) 14:55, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry. Now that I look into it it is a completely different show. Please accept my apologies for the mis-tag. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:31, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

No problem!- Munch60477 (talk) 00:55, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Vallavilai

I see that you made a change to an external link in the article Vallavilai, with the edit summary "please look at the sites, it is .org, not .com". I have now received a message on my talk page from another editor insisting that Vallavilai.com is the official community web site. Sending me this message appears to be based on the fact that I removed some unsuitable external links from the article, so I must be an appropriate person to ask for support, but in fact I know nothing about Vallavilai, and have no way of knowing who has made either site, and whether either or neither has any claim to be "official". However, I am willing to try to help an inexperienced editor who appeals to me. Since you made the change to the link, perhaps you can tell me why you think .org is the right one, not .com. I see that www.vallavilai.com is a closed membership site, with entry only by nomination by an existing "member", and personally I do not regard such a site as suitable for a link from a Wikipedia article, quite apart from the fact that it means I am unable to check what the site contains and so judge whether it is suitable, but I am aware that "I don't like it" is not a very defensible reason for excluding content. If you are able to make any constructive comments about this I shall be grateful. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:54, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi I was actually just reviewing those changes on my watchlist. As for my claim -- .org claims that they are a non-profit helping Vallavilli and have some information about it. The other site has no mention of the village, and seems to be a site for a catholic charity or something, with links to the Vatican and other catholic sites. The major red flag seems to be the fact that both sites have pop-up windows to pester me with. Unfortunately, like you, I know nothing about this village, I merely stumbled across it in New Page patrol. Needless to say, if either site is the official one, it does not provide much information. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 16:07, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. My feeling is that neither site deserves to be linked, but I know that many Wikipedians seem wedded to the idea that the "official" site of any article's subject deserves a link, no matter how much it offends Wikipedia's guidelines and policies in other respects, so excluding one or both without clear grounds is likely to be challenged. Thanks for your input, anyway. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:12, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Frankly I'd be supportive of removing both until someone can verify that one is the actual website. There is no real proof that either is "official" --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 16:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Vallavilai

Hello,

I have seen your comment..below are my efforts to provide you the base reason.. Vallavilai, a rural costal village in the southern-most part of India. There are similar 8 villages in the same line. Everyone have their website to connect the people together to share information and grow. The villages are Thoothoor, Poothurai, Erayumanthurai, Chinnathurai and so on. If you search them in any of the search engines, you will find details about vallavilai. Though Vallavilai.com is the official website of vallavilai, we have not given importance to provide the details about vallavilai - beleiving that will not be of any help to people. But our intension is helping the neighbouring villages too. So we keep away from mentioning the details particularly about vallavilai in Vallavilai.com website. Registration is made though referral only to avoid negative elements. But those who do not know any of the registered members can always contact the Administrator. Apart from the membership, rest all pages are open to all. That is what I see in the website.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaming.wills (talkcontribs)

I have removed all links from the website at the page, because the neither the .org or the .com pages have any content useful to the Wikipedia reader. While it may be a useful site for the villagers, I do not think that It is useful to someone trying to find out anything about the village. I also believe that the site as I saw it was fairly biased, as if it was written by a church, not the community.--Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 18:50, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
P.S. Please add four tildes (~~~~) to comments on talk pages to add your username and date. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 18:54, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

these come from government sources, which are public domain by definition. please reconsider your speedy noms, thx. riffic (talk) 13:43, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

I realize now that they are not copyvios, and I have removed the tags. However, it is Good Practice to put something at the bottom like I did saying that the article uses public domain material. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 13:54, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate the help. riffic (talk) 13:57, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Bif Baf Bof and Katie haslam

My page on 'Bif Baf Bof' and 'Katie haslam' have been created as many people do not know what te show is. Pages for presenters of the show have been added to give more information out. Im sorry that you think my pages must be deleted but i do not see why they should. The show has been advertised on some YouTube videos, and creating a page advises the public about the genre of the show and what it includes.

I've left deletion notices on her talk page. Dlohcierekim 13:58, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

why were my pages still deleted?

As an encyclopedia, we have some standards for inclusion such as Notability and not advertising. I see that an admin has userified your article so that you can work on it in your own user space before submitting it. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk)

I only mentioned advertising as people may have seen the advertisements on YouTube videos. I only wanted to show people what the show was about. Is there any way i can get the page text back?

I do not think that the article meets our inclusion standards, but if you want the text back for some other reason, you need to contact an administrator, for they are the only people who can restore deleted content. Perhaps the admin that deleted your page, User:Dlohcierekim might be willing. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 14:14, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I can email a copy out. The subject does not meet notability requirements, so I see no point in userfication or restoration. I could restore and send to WP:AFD, but I'm certain that the outcome would be "delete". Google search for "Katie haslam" +"Bif Baf Bof" netted no verifiable information from reliable sources. Dlohcierekim 14:25, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, Katie Haslam I userfied as a userpage that had gone astray. Dlohcierekim 14:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Virginia Vale instant AfD nomination?!

She's dead, so it's not a BLP. Her date of death (in 2006) was in the article as I first created it, did you look at it before tagging it at BLP? And I added links of RS to support claims (IMDB, and a book that has a whole chapter about her), before coming here to check what this was all about. Removing your AfD tag now. Slow down a little and read first, maybe? Yakushima (talk) 14:41, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

And just to be clear: I didn't add RS at your prompting. I added it because that's the next thing I was planning to do. Slow down. Yakushima (talk) 14:44, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
My bad. Brain not functioning. Please accept my apologies.--Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 14:45, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
For your punishment, you must read, and constructively comment on (or, hey, even improve!) what I managed to get done on Virginia Vale tonight, despite an annoying interruption just as I was getting warmed up ;-) Yakushima (talk) 16:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the infobox -- precisely the kind of edit I'm bad at. And sorry for my testy tone in the above. Yakushima (talk) 02:41, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
No Problem :)--Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:19, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Sticky Prods

Hi Fifty two thirty, Just in case you weren't aware, sticky prods are for unsourced Biographies of living people. If an article is poorly sourced, or the subject is dead, sticky prod is not appropriate. ϢereSpielChequers 06:40, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Geez! This is the second time that I have tagged a dead guy's article for deletion! I think I need to be slightly more awake when editing; you'd think I'd not gotten any sleep since 1894. Thanks for catching that. As for the other part, I got confused between the addition and removal guidelines, to add there must be NO sources, while to remove there must be at least one RELIABLE SOURCE. All cleared up. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 23:22, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks 52 30. Yes as one of the participants in the workshop that built the sticky prod process I have to apologise for the complexity of what emerged. One rather bizarre anomaly is what to do with a totally unsourced year of death.... ϢereSpielChequers 06:13, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: 37 arts

Hello Fiftytwo thirty. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of 37 arts, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not an unambiguous copyright infringement, or there is other content to save. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:41, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I see that the editor has removed the copyvio. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:09, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Image deletion

I created that image in Adobe Illustrator and PS. But since you insist to not leave it alone, how do I delete it? Thanks Rycher88 (talk) 22:11, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

If you created the images than you can keep them, and remove the tags after you give adequate permission for re-use, releasing them into the public domain or licensing them by one of the other copyleft licenses. I had suspected that maybe they were fair use orphans. If you want to delete them, simply follow the links and place {{db-g7}} on the top of the page. If you decide to keep the images, one copy will be deleted because they are identical. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:17, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the help. Images marked for deletion..

As for your questions regarding Bella Fortress It was an inside joke with a friend, but now realize that Wikipedia is not the place for that. Thanks again Rycher88 (talk) 22:23, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

You managed to delete the talk page of the image, but not the image itself. Please click here and here and then add {{db-g7}}. Thank you for understanding. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:29, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Removal of PROD from Luis Burgos Flor

Hello Fiftytwo thirty, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Luis Burgos Flor has been removed. It was removed by DGG with the following edit summary '(+refs, deprodded, notability uncertain)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with DGG before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Consol Energy article

Please check link contents before deleting - due to a possible separation agreement (contract) between the author of, "The King Rat and his Court..." only Consol can acknowledge the author's employment duration (30 years). Users/Readers of the article can put the two pieces together and make the connection that constitutes the controversy. 49erminer (talk) 17:09, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

I looked carefully at your addition before removing it. Here are a few reasons.
  • If CONSOL's website says that Bruno worked for him, then that is a reliable source that confirms that fact. Whether or not he "signed something" is complete speculation (and Wikipedia is not censored, it reports any verifiable fact), and if CONSOL wanted to eradicate him from their pages, then they did not do so. We can say "he worked for Consol."
  • Your addition has hints of tilting the neutral point of view of the article, and also borders on spam with promotional language and a press release, bolded title like "former employee authors book."
  • Third, if the book does not have a significant focus on Consol, then it is an inappropriate thing on their page.
Please understand my reasoning. If we do include it, please keep it neutral like "A former employee of CONSOL (reference to website), William Bruno, recently authored a book, The King Rat and His Court, a book criticizing corporate greed." I will remove this in the future if we cannot agree because it is currently biased and inappropriate for encyclopedia readers. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 21:07, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Am I correct in assuming, in that case, that readers and users can receive an advertisement from Consol (which Consol doesn't have to pay for), but a book that was written based solely and specifically on company management, which constitutes a controversy, is not acceptable under the sub-heading "Controversy"? In that case, the entire entry for Consol energy should be deleted as inappropriate based on neutral point of view49erminer (talk) 20:46, 17 May 2010 (UTC) I fixed your post
There is indeed a NPOV problem with the article, that it is tilted in Consol's favor. The recent addition is, however, problematic in the way that it is phrased. If it is phrased as above, then there is not a problem with the addition. I hope to completely rewrite the article, but I will be busy for a few weeks. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:59, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

o.k., thanks for the advice - I've edited the entry so that it is, hopefully, more neutral. 49erminer (talk) 21:07, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry - more clarification: I've edited the section regarding Bill Bruno's book about corporate greed and incompetence. 49erminer (talk) 21:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

I just made a few minor tweaks. Thanks for your hard work and understanding. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 21:11, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Battle data

Hi there! Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. I am currently researching a small Civil War battle that took place in Virginia so that I can make a Wikipedia page about it. How would I make a box like the one on most pages about battles and wars (for example the box in the upper right hand corner of the article on Battle of Manassas)? I would like to include belligerents, commanders, strength, etc. Thanks in advance!
--BurtAlert (talk) 18:36, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey! Welcome again. That little box is called an infobox, and they are included on many articles about a variety of subjects. The one at Battle of Manassas is Template:Infobox military conflict; if you go to the template page you will see all sorts of information about what to fill in where. Please add your article to WikiProjects, for this one WikiProject Virginia and Military History by adding their banners ({{WPMILHIST}} and {{WP Virginia}}) on the article talk page. I look forward to reading it! --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 19:11, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! Well I looked into it a little more, and unfortunately the article already exists. I guess I'll have to find something else to write.
--BurtAlert (talk) 19:36, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

You can always improve on the article that is there! --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 19:44, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Yep I definitely will. In the meantime, I was able to use the military conflict infobox for my article on Operation Commando Fury. Thanks again!

Mirus Bio

Hi, in response to the page I created for Mirus Bio being deleted, I have modified the entry. I totally support Wiki's efforts to be informative and non-commercial. This company (Mirus Bio) was and is primarily a company working to make gene transfer a better option for research and therapy. We have often been contacted by patients and would like to have a description of the company present for them on Wikipedia. Please check the following and tell me if it is acceptable. If not, I would dearly appreciate any suggestions for changes.

Mirus Bio LLC – “The Transfection Experts” – (formerly Mirus Bio Corporation), develops and manufactures transfection reagents and related products for life science research.

History

Mirus Corporation was founded in Madison WI in 1995 by three University of Wisconsin - Madison scientists: Jon A. Wolff, James E. Hagstrom and Vladimir G. Budker. Mirus focused on developing and commercializing innovative non-viral gene delivery technologies for gene therapy applications. These innovations also served as the basis for the company’s transfection reagents and other products. In 2008 the Therapeutics Division was acquired by Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. The former Research Tools Division of Mirus remains an independent entity now known as Mirus Bio LLC.

[Mirus Bio]

Genetran (talk) 14:56, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

The major problem here is conflict of interest. You should not be writing an article about yourself our your company, even if you "would like to have a description of the company present for them on Wikipedia," because that is still advertising. To show that an article should be written about your company, you need to show its notability by using 3rd party reliable sources (including your history). the "selected publications" section might be references to something (the company's strides in certain fields?) but I still cannot figure out that section. Sorry to take so long to get back to you, I've been busy. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 22:04, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
(moved your reply here for clarity)Hi, Actually today is my last day with Mirus Bio. Since the company split two years ago, I am the only one who left who is knowledgable about that therapeutic development history. I felt it was important to capture that information and make it public and accessible for anyone who was interested, especially those in the gene therapy and delivery research arena who want to build on those discoveries. I have removed all the product information completely, as you see. As a former employee (in 6 hours), I have no interest in the company whatsoever. It is a privately held company and I have no stock nor profit sharing. Genetran (talk) 14:30, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
This article still needs 3rd party reliable sources. No matter what your affiliation is with the company, it still reads like an ad. The history cannot be WP:OR, it must be sourced (even if it is just to the company website). --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 21:10, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

High Park Choirs of Toronto

Hello,

I'd like to know why you deleted the entry for the High Park Choirs of Toronto. I'm the volunteer Director of Marketing and Communications for the choirs and a parent of a chorister. We are indeed a notable children's choir in Toronto with an internationally renowned conductor, Zimfira Poloz. Our web site is www.highparkchoirs.org and we've been around for 23 years.

Kathy Tudor —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ktudor (talkcontribs) 03:07, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia's definition of "notable" can be found here. In order to show that HPC is notable, you need 3rd party reliable sources. The other problem is that the entry was promotional in tone, and Wikipedia is not an advertising vehicle. I would suggest that you try some other avenue for choir "marketing and communications". For your reference, here is the relevant Articles for deletion debate. Note that I am not an administrator; I did not delete your page, merely nominated it for deletion. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 03:16, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

crissy marsh

its not the same place, thats like saying that mount tam and the martin county mountains are the same thing or that lake anza and tilden park are the same thing, crissy field is a park and former airfield and recreational area, crissy marsh is just a habitat and georgraphical area, like a stream or a cove —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hemanetwork (talkcontribs) 21:39, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Crissy field is a Park that contains a very small marsh that is not particularly interesting on its own right. I see no reason why we need a fork for the marsh, when all of the history is already elsewhere. The field article can be tweaked slightly to reflect this fact. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 21:47, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

whether its a small or large marsh, lake, creek, or hill, geographical features get their own articles —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hemanetwork (talkcontribs) 22:02, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Nomination for speedy deletion: FRIENDSHIP-Framework

Dear Fiftytwo thirty,

yesterday we posted an article about the software FRIENDSHIP-Framework that you nominated for speedy deletion. Of course we are aware that beeing from the developing company ourselves the accusation of advertisement seems natural. On the other hand we tried to stick to the facts and refrain from unambiguos content. The fact that we didn't use any reference yet was simply owed to the missing time. We ment to post references, but the deletion was just to fast to be able to do that.

We would like to post this article again in a revised form. Since this was our very first article in Wikipedia, we kindly ask for your suggestions how to improve it, respectively make it compliant to Wikipedia's rules.

Best regards, FriendshipSystems --FriendshipSystems (talk) 15:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Afd

Please have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ReVamp; somehow this article has no comments except for first-time commenters, and established editors like you are nowhere to be found. I don't think there's a chance in the world this band is notable right now; maybe I'm wrong, but I would at least like some "valid" votes at this AFD. Thanks. — Timneu22 · talk 19:27, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I agree that with it having coverage only in the township of West Branch, Michigan, the festival certainly does not merit an independent article. But seeing as that township is the one place where it does have coverage, I've added a sourced paragraph to the West Branch article to specifically deal with that town's film festival.[2] See West Branch, Michigan#Film Festival. Might you now support a redirect? Regards, --Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:02, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that paragraph looks good. I will mention my support of a redirect at the AfD. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:36, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Trying again

Hello again. On WT:CSD, I have reproposed (after discussion was archived) the "A11" criterion for deletion of how-to articles. I am not including essay articles at this time. Since you are familiar with the topic, I thought I'd let you know so that you could voice your opinion on this. Note that the current wording for A11 is essentially the text that you created after tweaking my original proposal. Take care! — Timneu22 · talk 15:53, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Reasons for speedy deletion

Hi. Kindly state your reasons for tagging the Page- 'Magnon Solutions and Magnon International (Company)' under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Webmaster0098 (talk) 09:28, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

You will actually see that the company's article was not deleted. I ended up changing the article to a stub, removing all of the promotional language and details that would have made it eligible for G11, and moving the article to the correct name of Magnon Solutions per our naming conventions. The redirect was so implausible that it was then deleted. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 15:34, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

"Fast five" edits

I've addressed the error on the disambiguation page. I've tagged the quoted version of the page as being OK to delete.

As noted on the Fast Five (2011) page, that is the page for the movie (consistent with the other films Fast & Furious (2009). Fast Five redirects to the page Fast Five (disambiguation). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fab_Four is an example of the page style that seems appropriate, although Fast Five has a wider variety of topics, since the subjects aren't all music groups. Titanic (disambiguation) is a better examplerhyre (talk) 17:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Is there a problem with the way that T22 has structured the disambiguation and articles? It appears that there are enough titles on the disambiguation page to warrant it to be created separately. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 18:08, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

I am the assistant communications director at the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee. I want to post nonbiased biographies about our candidates for public consumption, as wikipedia is commonly used by voters for gathering information on who to vote for, and many of our candidates have no wikipedia page. Please do not post these Biographies. You have a conflict of interest, and the pages are copied from the canadate's pages in violation of copyright. Wikipedia is not a place for promotion, and candidates should only have their biography on Wikipedia if it is written by someone else (a non-biased third party) and they meet the notability guidelines for politicians (basically requiring third party reliable sources). --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 15:20, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

SNAP

You can continue to use the anachronism of food stamps and mislead people.

It is not what it is called today. And its use is less and less every day.

The article it links to is called SNAP... so the word Food Stamps links to SNAP... but we wouldn't want to call it that because thats 'not its common name'. You don't even want to have SNAP or Food Stamps in parenthesis to add clarity???

(Personal attack removed)

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramarchant2 (talkcontribs) 14:44, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

The first one in the Welfare article should stay as food stamps because we are talking about history from the 1960s. The second link I have changed, but using the entire name (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) instead of the cryptic SNAP acronym. I think that for most readers, seeing "food stamps" would be a lot easier to understand without clicking the link than SNAP, and I do not see why you are so fixated on this change. Nobody is being "mislead," and furthermore, the name food stamps is much more widely used in the media and even some governmental agencies. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 17:47, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Kevin Harrington

I updated the Kevin Harrington page because I work for him directly and half of the information that was in it before was false or outdated. Every single thing I wrote checks out directly with any website, book or any press material about him. Again I work for Kevin himself and if I need to verify this someway to get this checked out no problem, I just really need it back to all the correct information that I had put in originally because now it has all been changed back to false information that is really upsetting some people who have invested their time/money into Kevin. Please please please help me do this asap! Thank you!Kevharrington (talk) 02:38, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Please see the conflict of interest guidelines. Subjects should not write their own article or have someone write one for them. The main reason that I reverted your changes was because the new versions did not change the facts; You say that there was false information -- Please point out anything, but your edits do not seem to change the facts, but instead change the article to a much more promotional tone, which is not acceptable, see WP:NOTADVERTISING. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 18:52, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

The first part "Kevin Harrington, CEO of TVGoods.com, LLC and co-founder of OmniReliant Holdings, Inc.," is partly false beccause he is no longer with TVGoods.com and now with TVGoods, Inc. which are completely separate companies. He has a brand new business which he is now the founder of called, Inventors Business Center. Also I feel it is notable to have the study case that Harvard/MIT still teach about him and his company called "The Rise, The Fall and the Rise of Quantum International."Kevharrington (talk) 19:46, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I have added the Harvard/MIT case study to the page. TVGoods.com's about page still has Harrington as CEO, and TVGoods Inc. seems to be a holding company that holds TV Goods.com, so I don't see the issue there, and I cannot find any coverage whatsoever about the new venture. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:14, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for adding the case study. TVGoods.com was owned jointly owned by Kevin and another gentleman who have since split and that gentleman took the TVGoods.com website with him and therefore we have no control over changing the Kevin info out of it. This in turn is why Kevin started TVGoods, Inc. The tvgoodsholding.com website it takes you to is our parent company which is the umbrella for Tv Goods, Inc., Inventors Business Center and in September we are launching Military Shopping Channel. http://www.inventorsbc.com/ is the website for Inventors Business Center to show you proof of coverage. We just opened up another Inventors Business Center in Toronto as well back in May. Again I am sorry for taking up all your time with this but again this really just needs to be correct because Shark Tank was just picked up for another season. Kevharrington (talk) 14:15, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

I made 2 more edits that changed the company to the inc, not .com variety (though it is still clear that the companies are linked, I am not sure how; and that is not really my job to find out). I am not adding any other promotional material or new business ventures to the page until they are proven to be notable through references separate from Harrington's companies & reprints of their press releases (notable). It seems that these are just new sites that are capitalizing on his work on shark tank, as would be expected, but they are not yet important enough to be included. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:02, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Completely understood, we are in the process of getting all brand new websites and rebranding so in a few months everything will be more up to date and will have more references to refer to. Thank you again for changing the main things that were needed. Kevharrington (talk) 13:03, 11 August 2010 (UTC) Ok ok one last thing, is there anyway we can get the last part about Shark Tank changed to saying him as being on the panel or being one of the actual "sharks"? It says he is an investor for it and it kind of makes it sound like he's not on the actual panel of sharks which could be confusing.Kevharrington (talk) 14:17, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

A quick parenthetical should take care of that. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 14:53, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi.

You turned the article into a redirect; WHY? and why wasn't I told about it?. I turned it back, i can't see way would you redirect it to the band's article, if this is the 13th article of the band's discography.

Unless there's something i`m missing i think the article has enough notability for itself. Zidane tribal (talk) 07:43, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

See WP:NALBUM: "All articles on albums, singles or songs must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." This consists of nothing more than a track listing and a list of people involved in recording it. Per that guideline, the articles should be redirected to the band. Frankly, though I only saw one article while new page patrolling, I see no assertion of notability in the other album articles. They should be redirected too. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 13:28, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
There are thousands of articles like this one, and a lot more of them even more stub-ish, none of them are redirects because "If the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia", i had another album's article for deletion for the same reason; i`l try to get sources of notability but if this album get redirected, so should at least 7000 others that i have assessed in my time here. Zidane tribal (talk) 20:41, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
I've asked a question at Wikipedia talk:Notability (music)#Album Notability Standards regarding this, as I don't believe that albums "Inherit" notability from the band. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 23:14, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Ok, perhaps they don't according to guidelines but they do de-facto; now, i agree with you the articles need external, third party links, i`ll ge to it, just give me some time. Zidane tribal (talk) 16:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I may just be BOLD and make those changes to policy, If someone has a problem that is what WP:BRD is for. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 01:25, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Aamir Mohammed Hussain

Hello Fiftytwo thirty. I am just letting you know that I deleted Aamir Mohammed Hussain, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Courcelles 14:52, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Northern Virginia

Hey! Regarding this edit, I am not sure why the Northern Virginia tag was removed here. WhisperToMe (talk) 09:07, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Virginia/Northern Virginia Task Force#Scope, the NOVA TF does not include corps based there, though there has been discussion on the talk to remove that bit. Re add it if you want. The task force is sort of dead I'm afraid; even WP:VIRGINIA more than inactive enough for my taste. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 00:34, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I think the best way to deal with it is to consolidate NOVA and Wikipedia:WikiProject District of Columbia to a super-project covering all of Metropolitan Washington DC (DC, VA, MD, and WV) - That way there is an active project covering everyone. What do you think? WhisperToMe (talk) 02:39, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
If I get some time I might propose that to the folks At WP:WPDC, but time is something I am lacking right now... --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 01:25, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Crossball PROD

I have objected to your PROD for Crossball as I feel that the content is probably salvageable by merging into the four square article. Hasteur (talk) 02:00, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Did you intend to tag that for speedy as a copvio of itself? If not, could you provide the URL whose copyright it is infringing? Thanks, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:03, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Wow, that was stupid of me. Fixed. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 02:06, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Deleted, along with the rest of them. Keep up the good work. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:07, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Frédéric Chaslin

Thanks for the comments on Fredchaslin's wikipedia page about the edits done to Frédéric Chaslin. I'm sure you figured out immediately, or concluded immediately, that Fredchaslin is Frédéric Chaslin himself. I've edited back the Frédéric Chaslin page, with minor edits, but I might need your help in a pending edit war on that page. Best, DJRafe (talk) 16:08, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

'tis on my watchlist. It's pretty blatantly self-promo so it shouldn't cause a big ruckus. Regards Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 17:30, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Will keep an eye on it myself. Too bad he doesn't see that there's nothing unflattering about what I wrote in the original bio. DJRafe (talk) 18:16, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Dear KS,

Admittedly, Summit Records is the selling agent for MAMA, but in the style of other record labels which have multiple labels, this fallows the same type structure. So different artists and different recordings apply. I spent a great deal of time getting the page up and you offered no warning of the edit. > Thank you for contacting us regarding the problem you encountered while editing.

However, since article content is not controlled by a central authority, we do not resolve editing disputes via email. Instead, please contact the editor who made the change <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Fiftytwo_thirty> and raise the matter with them. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

Hello there and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I sincerely apologize that I forgot to notify you that I created the redirect. The reason I redirected the page is because the page in its original form did not assert any notability, and after doing a Google search I failed to find any third party reliable sources about MAMA Records. Since Summit Records is the parent company and also needed advertising cleanup, I decided that a merge would be best for the page. If you can find sourcing to prove that MAMA is notable independently of Summit, feel free to convert the redirect back to an article. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 20:51, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
