Message from Firewall re: "Entomopter"

Thanks for your help with communicating... I guess I'm lucky you checked back to your post on my Talk page to see my own note there. Now what happens to my first article? Does its status somehow change and get listed somewhere? I did a normal Wiipedia search on the title and it didn't show up. I got the following:

Wiktionary

I know it says to contact you by email but I can't find your address.

Anyway, regarding the article I just started on "ethanol precipitation"; if that gets moved to Wiktionary, and someone typed "ethanol precipitation" into Wikipedia, as I did, would they get a link to the entry in Wiktionary (which would seem logical to me) or would they just be told there's no such article and offered to start one? Some other guys ramblings...

An inquiry as to the deletion of the Alfred Vargas article. I would like an explaination for the deletion of the said article. It is neither spam nor nonesence. It is infact information on an Actor who is one of the characters in a popular fantasy series with an ever expanding wikipedia entry. It forms a sub-article for the Encantadia and Etheria articles.

I've replied on Crushweb's talk page.-gadfium 04:28, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Message from Wikipedia user "Acwfakefighting"

21:28, 2 January 2006 Lucky 6.9 deleted "ACW Fake Fighting" (NN fantasy wrestling league; one Google hit.)

I would appreciate if you could recover this page as I wasn't completed with it and would like to recover what I have written, at the very least. ACW Fake Fighting is not a fantasy wrestling league. It started as a small "amateur" professional wrestling company but has since expanded into other areas. Currently ACW Fake Fighting is in development on two different films for release in the area of Spring to Summer 2006. You also claimed that there is only 1 google hit for ACW Fake Fighting when there are 40, and I am attempting to use Wikipedia to expand that. My entry has done nothing to detract from this website and is a useful source of information for the growing number of people interested in ACW.

Like I said, at the very least you could recover the page so I can save what I wrote. I didn't save it to my computer because I didn't anticipate such a hasty and - in my opinion - unfair deletion.

I've copied the page to User:Acwfakefighting for you as Lucky 6.9 is on a break. I have no opinion on whether or not this page should have been deleted.-gadfium 02:16, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So can someone explain what the problem is and why everyone is just deleting things. This is really quite frustrating and I don't understand the rationale. Thankyou

A little help is then required ... Who is appointed judge and jury of article worthiness and the grey re dictionary term - I could develop a quality article on "stable of bitches". In fact, I had a discussion regarding the idea at our wikipedia group and we all agreed it was of importance.

Thank you

Just wanted to return the comment and encourage you to keep giving positive reinforcement to new users. Your message, in response to my first article, made me feel part of the Wiki community and really made me want to contribute more. Hopefully the same feeling is experienced by other new users. Hi Lucky!

Now that we've got that entire silly pedophilia business out of the way, I was wondering if I could ask for your opinion regarding my Wikipedia:Requests for bureaucratship/Linuxbeak_(2). It seems to be going pretty well, but I would appreciate even more community response. Thanks! Alex Schenck (that's Linuxbeak to you) 23:28, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lucky - you removed my Adam Daly page, after suggesting I was trying to advertise my band (even though its not my band) and with speculation to its purpose. Could you then explain the purpose of a Ribena soft drink page?? My point is that although not completly academically essential, it is no more of an advertisment than a product listing. Why did you choose to delete my page when clearly there are other pages that fall astray of your supposed requirements. Please put my page back on - the Milton Keynes community aswell as Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties would be potential viewers of the page - are they not as important as people interested in Ribena? I would appreciate if you got back to me, as you seem to have failed on my last correspondance to you.

criteria it covers: cult figure - influential local person - thanks.

Happy Wikivacation!!

Hey Lucky, whats up? Happy Wikivacation! I hope you're enjoying it.

I see you enjoy trains just as much as I enjoy airplanes. You need to pay a visit to downtown Glendale, Arizona. There are no trains there, but I know a shop that sells all kinds of train models, even one with a Superman logo!

As you can read from my user page, Im huge on airplane models. My aim is to get at least one from each of the 5,000 airline companies currently on the air. I think I will be 95 before I get to that goal, through! LOL

Anyways, here's just a word to say hi. God bless you!

Sincerely yours, your friend Antonio Seiko Martin

It is not appropriate to be deleting stubs on sight, seconds after they are created. If you have a problem with the stub I created, put it on VFD. --Revolución (talk) 20:21, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Which guidelines exactly would that be? And it's interesting to see that you reverted my comment on this page as if it were vandalism, and not legitimate criticism as it really is. --Revolución (talk) 20:32, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Responded on your talk page... - Lucky 6.9 20:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of content shouldn't be something to be considered for instant deletion. Instant deletion should be things like spam and nonsense. The article I created was neither. That's my style, to start articles as stubs, so I can go back to them and expand them. I had to retype everything because you deleted it. Every featured article started out as a meager stub. I hope that you stop deleting articles on sight if they don't have a certain length. I am not trying to pick a fight with you, I just am giving constructive criticism. I don't personally hold anything against you, if you were wondering. Peace. :) --Revolución (talk) 20:45, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

To arms Comrades!

BRING BACK ADAM DALY. What do I want to achieve from this nonsense? you ask. The answer is simple; it is the school holidays. I have just finished my primary schooling at parnell District School (on which i contributed a magnificently brilliant and intellectually stimulating article) and i am bored.

I hope to achieve a certain level of entertainment by engaging in dialogue with various people who find me annoying. My other holiday activies include getting kicked ot of Christian chat rooms, forming a communist newspaper and contributing various works to the rock throwing section on the Atheist vs God site (these have been accepted, i might add.)

I, Comrade Conrad-14 year old boy am just a very bored communist.

Incidentally, I am looking for potential comrades to join my communist movement. If anyone wishes to join me in a revolution and aid me in over-throwing the capitalist pigs they are most welcome. Articles for the Newspaper would be appreciated. Brave soldiers like comrade Adam Daly who perished for the cause must be acknowledged. Te Kowhai a Whakarongmai te Aroha.

Thankyou Comrade! In spreading word of the impending revolution you have served the cause in the most magnificent of manners.

The time is drawing near. The worker is becoming restless. As one of the last living Neoplatonists I feel that it is my duty to ensure the downfall of capitalism. Comrade Adam Daly will not have perished in vain.

As for the christmas matter. Frankly comrade, i am disappointed. As the great Karl Marx once said "religon is the opiet of the masses.

Copies of the holy book must be obtained and distributed. The communist manifesto must be handed out to fellow comrades and bourgeois. This is essential if we are to bring down the filthy capitalist pigs.

From now on I will be referred to as Comrade Tsan Tzu.

Independantedge blocking

Hi there! I noticed that you blocked Independantedge for an indefinite period of time. I was wondering if you could reconsider that decision. I left a note on the user's talk page informing why that page was deleted. I am going to assume good faith on his/her behalf by assuming that they did not know why that article was deleted. So I was just wondering if it was possible for you to unblobk them and see what they do, if the article in question is re-created, then by all means block. Thanks - Akamad Merry Christmas to all! 07:16, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

blocks

Hi Lucky 6.9,

I noticed you've been carrying out quite a few indefinite blocks for user names that have few edits, none of them productive. Is that appropriate? Looking at WP:BLOCK, I'm not sure it is. Wouldn't attempting discussion first, before blocking, be less likely to WP:BITE a newbie? —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 04:30, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I hear you. NP patrol is a scary scary place. But I think it's worth it to always make the attempt to engage in dialog before blocking - at least to distinguish the clueless from the malicious. (Some editors, of course, make their maliciousness clear to begin with; I have no issue with blocking those accounts.) It might also be helpful if you left some pointers on the user's page to what now-deleted pages the user edited; since Special/contributions doesn't show edits to now-deleted pages, it can be hard for someone like me who comes along later to see *what* went on. Finally, I don't think there needs to be a rush to indefinitely block even kinda-bad new accounts: the really bad ones will just quickly create a new account anyway, so the benefits don't outweigh the harm to newbies caught up in the crossfire.—Bunchofgrapes (talk) 04:55, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hi Lucky 6.9 -- would you take a look at the this problem? User:Wildlifewarrior originally posted the text, which was tagged as copyvio. In email and on my talk page, the author claims sole ownership of the text, and now has reinstated it. I have (just this minute) posted an explanation of the copyright problem on his Talk page, but I'm not sure if his assertion of ownership is sufficient. I am trying to assume good faith and suspect that he just wants his info in here, and is frustrated, but I suspect there is a copyright solution for this that I'm not aware of. Thanks

Thanks for the polite messages on my talk page, I really wasn't expecting that.

I was expecting some wiki-censor admin to be behind it all, had no idea who it was even.

When Bloodfetish.com was deleted, there wasn't even any edit history or the usual "view deleted edits" link that lets you know it's been deleted. Very odd. Maybe that's the norm for new articles but I have seen at other deletions it usually says "View deleted edits" at the top even if you can't see what's at the link.

O_o

Anyway as per what I said in the edit summary, gonna work on both. As you can see from google there's a lot of communites and stuff based around it but most of it's pretty covert. And some are complete wackos. Making a NPOV article could help a lot. There's even wacko nuts (mostly American I must add) who think they're vampires. --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 02:52, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa - Phil Hendrie Show deletion

Excuse me - I merely divided up the Phil Hendrie article in two, one with the material related to the man himself, the other that was exclusively about his syndicated radio show. As far as I know, this is not in violation of the guidelines, and would have been only if I'd left the copied and pasted material back in the original article. What I did, I've seen done many times before in regards to broadcasters and their programs. I also did a ton of cleanup work on the text as well. User:Jingofetts has strong resemblance to blocked User:Maoririder. Actually, this user is more like the early Maoririder, rather than the later spastic Maoririder. (medication change??)

Evidence:

  • Extensive use of tags, such as cleanup
  • An interest in the Arthur TV show

Why was the Maria Milito article speedily deleted with no notification or reason given to me? Make the Grade links to that page (and if you check the edit history of that article you'll see I had nothing to do with creating that link) and she hosts a lunchtime radio program on the only classic rock station in the largest radio market in North America, including a segment she took over from the late and famous Scott Muni... seems notable enough for me. Happy new year to you too! Having had a look at this, I think you've done exactly the right thing. He certainly does seem to have been more trouble than he was worth, even if he had a handful of legitimate contributions. Furthermore, giving him the offer of unblocking if he said he'd behave himself was a good call, and I think his rude refusal says a load about his usefulness to the project.

I like it! How do I use it? Anything that will help stem the tide of nonsense would be welcome. - Lucky 6.9 05:07, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added it to your monobook.js. If you use a different theme, you will need to move the contents of User:Lucky 6.9/monobook.js to a different page (e.g. User:Lucky 6.9/cologneblue.js).

Press Ctrl+Refresh first to load the code into your browser. You should see a "Speedy" link appear at the bottom of your toolbox just as the page finishes loading. (The shortcut for it is alt-backtick, backtick being next to 1 on most keyboard). So for example:

  1. You follow a link to a bad article.
  2. Press alt-h, confirm no good version ever existed.
  3. Go to delete talk page if necessary (alt-t, alt-d, delete)
  4. Press alt-j, confirm no inwards links were created.
  5. Press alt-backtick, and click on the cell with the right criterion (e.g. "A7 Unremarkable people")
    • You should know them well - the descriptions are only reminders
    • The bottom-right cell sends you to CAT:CSD
    • You can do this on the article page, the talk page, the history page, the whatlinkshere page, even the edit page
    • Obviously, the cells are coloured with all the category reasons yellow, all the article reasons green, etc. I've used it for a day or two and the muscle memory, well, speeds things up a LOT.
  6. Wait until you are sent to CAT:CSD

Tadam! Try it! r3m0t talk 05:18, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS If you visit CAT:CSD often, check the bottom of the talk page for instructions on removing the annoying notices that make you scroll down to see the article list. r3m0t talk 05:20, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is the Ghost of Roman Soldier

Because of technical problems and bounty-hunting admins watching every new member who joins I choose this name.

When we first met, I was trying to work on an article by writing it and then saving it. This is the way any thinking person would write a paper. Start it, save it, work on it, save it. Forgive me for bringing this to Wikipedia.

As I worked on the article, you deleted it. I thought it was a mistake, so I tried working on it some more, and you deleted it. I can't believe this is Wikipedia policy to delete new articles on sight. I hope that this policy will one day be removed and welcomed by a policy allowing both new articles and saving. Remember that even the most brilliant featured articles were once stubs.

Alas, I just hope you understand why I and so many others have a problem with the way you administrate.

This is the very last you will be hearing from me in any way. In less than one week I will have much better things to do than play around on Wikipedia. I hope that you and everyone else will appriciate the good I brought Wikipedia. I hope Wikipedia will become a better place no matter who they choose as administrators. Ghost of Garden State 06:55, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Soldier, if you can maintain this attitude of civility and courtesy, I think that you would be welcome to continue your work here. It's all right to offer comments or constructive criticism—I've let other administrators know when I disapproved of their actions, and I have pushed for a couple to lose their administrative privileges. It was the hostility, the grudge, the vandalism that we had issues with, not your dissatisfaction. — Knowledge Seeker 08:25, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're the only judge of that, but take it easy on yrslf, whether that means that you've earned a vacation or that you don't need to put up with one. When i realized how long i've been seeing yr sig & checked to see if you might be an admin, i also noticed how much slop you do delete! So my part in this was the kind of routine remedy (more eyeballs) that the WP method relies upon. And don't take my excessively voluminous comment as implicit criticism; i'm really, really compulsive, and gave this matter far more attention than it deserved for the sake of the project, for my own stupid reasons i guess. Hi, any reason why you deleted Lenny Tatara ...

... before anyone could read the text? And whatever does "(null || Deletion aided with delaid)" mean? Best wishes, <KF> 02:21, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I can't say I'd prefer the deletion process speeded up even further, but all this will surely have been discussed somewhere? I'm still concerned about newbies, who I think shouldn't be frightened off after their first edit.I was just googling "Lenny Tatara" and was going to add an external link (which includes some of his pictures), remove the interview and wikify the rest when I realized that the article had gone. No need to speed up anything really as far as I'm concerned. All the best, <KF> 02:32, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you on a deletion spree or what? You have been deleting dozens of articles in a very short time, among them DigitalSupremacy, which normally would have to pass through Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, wouldn't it? Could you please stop? <KF> 02:45, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm, hi. We haven't interacted much, but I've often followed your exploits. I have to admit, the thought of things getting deleted faster makes me intensly uncomfortable. To be frank (while hopefully causing no offense) you have been known to push the edge of acceptable speedies a bit in the past, no?
Please take into account this is coming from someone who regularly follows up on and AfDs when things are restored as "bad speedy" by, err, whomever. Of course, also bear in mind that I've not seen anything that looked wrong, it's just the thought that bothers me.
Hope that this has all been recieved in the spirit with which it was intended,

Lucky 6.9, a cursory look at deletion logs shows that you have deleted a little over 100 articles in about 9 hours, all with a reason of "null" and done with my delaid script. Using my delaid script, you can actually see "A7 || " added to the deletion summary before it presses the button, and instead "null || " was added. This is clearly a problem of delaid not working properly with IE/Opera/Safari/whatever, but the point is - are we to believe that you didn't notice this 100 times? I cannot see any particular suspicious deletions, but please refrain from using delaid until I fix the problem. Also, tell me what browser you are using, and try adding en.wikipedia.org to your "list of trusted sites" (if your browser has one). Then, delete one (deserving!) article and check the logs. r3m0t talk 04:47, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, while I was looking through some edits I started seeing some summarys I'd never seen before (null || Deletion aided with delaid). Then I came across this Tagore subramaniam It was deleted as "No meaningful content or history, text unsalvageably incoherent. It is patent nonsense" yep: G1. I took a look and it really doesn't look to me like it fits there. It certainly wasn't patent nonsense, nor was it unsalvageably incoherent by any means. What I'm mainly concerned about the speed at which the deletions are happening. During one period there were 7 deletions in one minute.....the next minute there were 5! That's 12 in 2 minutes. I'm concerned that there isn't much thought or research being done on these. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see how you can be thinking about these at that speed, but as always, I may be missing something so I'd appreciate a note when ever you can get to it! Dude... read the instructions. It's alt-backtick for the bot, and alt-d for normal deletions. I'll work on making sure it doesn't happen, but meanwhile - alt-backtick (or "Speedy" in your toolbox on the left). After alt-backtick, click on the correct criterion - after a few deletions you'll be very used to the locations of the criterion :). Instead of clicking you can also alt-click to add extra detail to your deletion reason. Good luck, r3m0t talk 00:03, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In reply to your post on my userpage, I still don't understand why you deleted the article in the first place. As far as I know, when you deleted it, it had a summary written by myself, not one copied from tv.com. I'm pretty sure that I was the last one that had edited it. Alt.tv.real-world

I talked to Zoe, and he said you deleted alt.tv.real-world? Why?

As I said to Zoe, I understand very well that the first user put up a joke article, but I was working on changing it. I was editing and saving as I was going, so the new changes should have been visable. Clearly, this article was not "vandalism" or "nonsense." Also, the changes being made after after I initially changed the first user's entry were minor spelling fixes. You said the only changes were "retyping the slogan." What does that even mean??? If you want a full article, I can wait until I'm completely finished before submitting it, but you shouldn't delete just it.

This article should be allowed resubmitted properly, as it is not non-notable. Alt.tv.simpsons and alt.romath have their own articles. If they have articles about their newsgroups, alt.tv.real-world should have one as well. Let alone the fact that alt.tv.real-world is one of the most notable newsgroups in Usenet history (as my article was going to point out), it is certainly more noteworthy than alt.tv.simpsons (which could be covered article about "The Simpsons," btw). I don't like how you just shoved it off as nonsense, but that's pretty discriminating.

I am still editing my article, (as it was on my screen when I left, and when I came back I found the saved version was deleted), and I plan on resubmitting it. Only this time I'll wait until I have the full article before saving it. If you still have a problem with it, it is clear you're discriminating.

I'm not sure which way to get this to you, so I am trying both. Apologies if you keep reading the same things from me. Also, I apologize if I am coming off gruff, but it was a shock to me that the article was deleted (before even being discussed!) in the first place...

No intentions on flaming you, I just felt it was unfair to delete my article. I understand you get bombarded with silly articles about web forums and discussion boards, which are like vanity articles on someone's little "hole in the corner of the web." However, I really felt alt.tv.real-world is more noteworthy (along the lines of the infamy of the alt.fan.karl-malden.nose group, [which has a Wikipedia entry, mind you] as we associate, but are not affiliated with them) due to its history and widespread fanbase. Wikipedia has several articles on Usenet, flamewars, and trolls, etc, and I thought a few articles (like mine) that actually provide examples would help fill in those topics a little better. Wavy G 06:23, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with deleting it, after all, I did list it for AfD, and it was pretty much nothing but forum posters' screen names, which is a pretty good argument for deletion in most cases. User:Zoe|(talk) 16:28, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article

I started an article (Flipsyde) and you deleated/protected it. I would like to know how I can get this article back up and running. I added some things on the talk page, any help getting the article back would be great.

Blocking IP ranges

It's actually not that difficult. Basically...say the user is using 129.54.23.34. If you wanted to block everyone in the 129.54.23.34 range, you would type in 129.54.23.0/24. That would block everyone that has an IP address that starts with 129.54.23, If you wanted to block the 129.54.23.0 and 24.0 ranges, you'd type in 129.54.23.0/23. 129.54.23.0/22 would block 23.0, 24.0, 25.0, 26.0. it's in multiples of 2. So /21 would block 8 ranges. /20 would block 16, etc. Hope that makes sense. :) It's actually not that complex. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 03:26, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Awwwww. That's very sweet! :) Btw, another idea is that if you use IRC, Kelly Martin (who goes by the name of karynn on IRC) is usually in the #wikipedia room. She has checkuser access. She might be able to help out. --Woohookitty(cat scratches) 03:31, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?

You sent me a message about vandalism - I wasn't doing anything of the sort and I don't understand what you are talking about. I'm making a template for which the words need to appear as a railway line name.

Examples are here:

Eastwood railway station, Sydney

Look at the second bottom box which contains "Northern Line" and the stations on that line. To do this requires a template of such a sort:

{{CityRailSydney/Northern Line}}

this puts the header in the box. The content is the same as the title, but it is necessary to distinguish. I didn't write this, I copied it and improved on it from someone else...

Please let me know if that's not right.

Renaming help

Somebody improperly moved the contents of Cao Dai to a new article named Cao Đài and changed the old name to a redirect. Please delete the new name and rename the old name to the new name to preserve the edit history. DHN 07:11, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can't do the renaming myself because the new name is already occupied (by the content created by this user). The new name is the proper name in Vietnamese, but I'm not sure whether it should be used in the English version of Wikipedia. The beef I have with it right now is the user improperly performed an article renaming (i.e. create a new article with content copied from the old name, losing the edit history). DHN 07:41, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you understand what I meant to say: At the beginning, there was an article named "Cao Dai" [1] that has an extensive edit history. Someone comes along and create a wholly new article named "Cao Đài" with contents copied from "Cao Dai". The user then edits the article "Cao Dai" to redirect to "Cao Đài". This is an incorrect way to rename a page because it disrupts the edit history. I want you to 1. Delete the article Cao Đài and 2. Rename "Cao Dai" to "Cao Đài" to preserve the edit history yet producing the same effect that the user wanted. Thanks. DHN 07:53, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedily deleting copyvios

Earlier today, you speedily deleted Excel_High_School_-_www.excelhighschool.com, which was listed on AfD as an obvious copy-vio. As per CSD reason A8, before deleting the article, you should add a {{nothanks-sd}} message to the talk page of the article's creator before speedily deleting the article. I did this for you, but it should have been done before the deletion, not after it. In addition, when speedily deleting a page, please provide the exact reason in the deletion summary and AfD page, in this case, CSD A8. Finally, you did not add the bottom closing tag to the AfD. When you close an AfD, you should add {{at(pipe)reason}} to the top and {{ab}} to the bottom. Thanks! --M@thwiz2020 00:44, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions

Hi Lucky, I'm wondering about some of your deletions. MECA Messenger was deleted on the 25th. Content was: MECA Messenger connects to AIM, MSN, Yahoo! and ICQ. MECA is the only interoperable instant messenger software with exclusive IM skins, offline messages and translation. Now it's not the perfect stub by any means but it's not CSD material...shouldn't it have really gone to AFD? My concern is that your deleting articles so fast that you have no chance to look a them properly. For example that same day there was a stretch where you deleted 9 articles in 4 minutes and another where you deleted 13 articles in the space of 4 minutes, including one that someone was still working on and which was restored. Is there any way you could spend a little more time on your deletions? I understand that many of them are garbage but we don't want to throw good stuff out with the bad I hope! The user above was asking about a group of film stubs he created, another case of rapid deletions, 10 deletions in 3 minutes. They looked like perfectly fine little film stubs, complete with posters of each film....short yes, but certainly not CSD material. Anyway, sorry about going on but I get concerned when newbies get pages deleted without any explanation. Thanks! Rx StrangeLove 07:39, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do know we get a steady stream of garbage for sure, but the trick is to pick out the ones that don't fall under CSD....throw a stub tag on them, tell the editor that he should be adding more to his additions or pass them to AFD. But it doesn't do anyone any good to delete something that someone added in good faith and have it disappear on them with no explanation. I'm not talking about junk someone adds just to be funny or as a test....but things that for whatever reason, someone (probably new) thought fit in. Those film stubs for example. Anyway....sometimes it's just too quick and someone's good faith edits get deleted, I think we should respect them enough to at least drop a note on a user talk page about it. Ok, I've gone on long enough! No hard feelings I hope! Rx StrangeLove 07:58, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are you really speedying short articles which include pictures too? You told me that I cannot copy text from a website. What if I know the owners of the website? Do i need them to release it somehow? What do i do? I'm posting with their cooperation. --Quickstar

Thanks

I see that battyboy and his bestest buddy Wik (latest incarnation Warner.) have been busy little bees cranking their harrassment crusade into top gear overnight. In any case, thanks for the vote of confidence in putting me forward. --Gene_poole 22:18, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Whitefront.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 08:14, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

Another Friday night both of us spend in front of our computers, eh? LOL. I left a note; hopefully it will help. It looks like the article may be survivable, but I'm not familiar with the subject and I didn't google her. Cheers Lucky! Antandrus (talk) 05:57, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

is there a reason you speedied my stub instead of listing it at afd? Nateji77 09:23, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

critera for speedy deletion of articles

  1. Very short articles providing little or no context (e.g., "He is a funny man that has created Factory and the Hacienda. And, by the way, his wife is great."). Limited content is not in itself a reason to delete if there is enough context to allow expansion. A search engine may help in determining context and allow for the article's expansion.
little context, not none
  1. Foreign language articles that exist on another Wikimedia project. If the article in question does not exist on another project, the template {{notenglish}} should be used instead.
not on jp.wikipedia.org
  1. No content whatsoever. Any article whose contents consist only of links elsewhere (including hyperlinks, category tags and "see also" sections), a rephrasing of the title, and/or attempts to correspond with the person or group named by its title.
filmography is content
  1. (merged into 3)
  2. Transwikied articles. Any article that has been discussed at Articles for Deletion (et al), where the outcome was to transwiki, and where the transwikification has been properly performed and the author information recorded.
no
  1. Attack pages. Articles which serve no purpose but to disparage their subject (e.g., "John Citizen is a moron").
  2. Unremarkable people or groups. An article about a real person, group of people, band or club that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. If the assertion is disputed or controversial, it should be taken to AFD instead.
  1. An article that is a blatant copyright infringement and meets these parameters:
no

When tagging a page for deletion under this criterion, a user should notify the page's creator using wording similar to {{Nothanks-sd}} or an equivalent message. Before deleting any page under this criterion, an admin should verify that the page creator has been notified — if not, the admin should do so. If the deleting administrator is notified of an error, and finds the claim of error plausible, he should restore the content immediately and, if a confirmation email has not been received, follow the Wikipedia:Copyright problems procedure, blanking the article with the {{copyvio}} template in the process.

Correct mistakes?

The repeated deletion without warning of my in-progress article stub was destructive to the Wikipedia community spirit, and I'm glad that the perpetrator decided on further reflection to insert a warning of possible deletion instead. The deleter made mistakes; corrected the mistakes; life goes on. However, the demeaning tone used, and threats to blocking the contributor, live on. When will that mistake be corrected? I suggest an apology.
