Mahamudul Hasan was born on December 7, 1988, in Maheshawar Pasha, Khulna, Bangladesh. He is a Bangladeshi contemporary visual artist known for his diverse use of art mediums. Hasan's artistic expression is open to any medium that best conveys his understanding of a particular context. His recent works notably involve mediums such as video art, installations, and mixed-medium painting.
Biography
[edit]During his academic years, Mahamudul Hasan engaged in extracurricular activities, attending contemporary art workshops, seminars, and art exhibitions at both national and international levels. He completed his Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Khulna University and was awarded a fully funded scholarship (ICCR) from the Indian government to pursue a Master's in Visual Arts in 2018.
Professionally, Hasan has held the position of "Sector Specialist and Creative Direction" at the GCRF Center for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighborhoods (SHLC) project at Khulna University. In this role, he collaborated with urban researchers and renowned visual artists to implement an exhibition titled "Urban Issues: An Artistic Gaze," later published in book form.
Additionally, Mahamudul Hasan participated as a selected artist in the UK-based research project PACCONDA, which aimed to conduct contemporary artistic research on poverty and social issues. Notably, he was chosen as one of the top 10 artists in the International art residency program "Valdis Bušs 2023," organized by the Balvi Municipality and Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre in Latvia.
