Description
English: Florence Sheridan, wife of Augustus Bampfylde, 2nd Baron Poltimore (1837–1908), wearing her peeress robes with the Poltimore Tiara made for her in the 1870's by Garrards. It was sold at auction by the 4th Baron for £5,500. On the advice of Patrick Plunkett, Deputy Master of the Household, it was purchased for Princess Margaret prior to the official announcement of her engagement to Antony Armstrong-Jones, and was worn by her at her wedding in Westminster Abbey. It was sold in 2006 at Christie's, by her children Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto for £926,400 to an Asian buyer.
