Reason: There are no fire-tube boilers of this form. The nearest would be the Scotch marine boiler, but that has a large diameter furnace leading to the combustion chamber, rather than the (lower) tube bank of many small-diameter tubes. This boiler could not be built, not could it be maintained (without some access to that leftmost combustion chamber. Also the boiler is drawn with domed ends. Although such a boiler could be built today, it would be impractical with the flanging presses available in period. Instead boilers were built with flat ends and stayed to support them.
