- Ukraine holds the second vote in a run-off presidential election. Voters will decide between incumbent Viktor Yanukovich and challenger Viktor Yuschenko. Observers have expressed concern over possible election abuses.
- The German Finance Minister Hans Eichel reaches an agreement in Berlin with his U.S. counterpart John Snow to write off most of Iraq's debt.
