Are there Women's football pools ?. We could include information in the article. --HybridBoy 07:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's the point of having Littlewoods redirect to the same page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.198.153.194 (talk) 22:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what happened in the past, but Vernon's does run a pools operation in 2008 - I just received quite a nice cheque from them today... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.64.134.118 (talk) 01:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Football pool" or "Football pools"

[edit]

This article was moved by User:Michael Hardy from "Football pools" (plural) to "Football pool" (singular). I believe that "Football pools" is the more common name, and should be the article title per WP:COMMONNAMES. User:Michael Hardy stated, "I've certainly heard the singular used." Do other editors have evidence to support either position? CJPargeter (talk) 08:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In England it's plural, as in "Did you win the pools this weekend?" 82.13.18.200 (talk) 20:57, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this article littered with direct links to commercial websites? Wikipedia should not be linking to these enterprises. --216.75.93.110 (talk) 16:43, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

they should be included as links/references but not hyperlinked to within the actual article POTATO JUICE —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.253.187 (talk) 17:33, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BBC Grandstand

[edit]

... or Final Score as it has been for a few years now. The paragraph states "Only two people have so far announced the classified football results on the programme since its inception in 1958 - Len Martin until his death in 1995 and, since then, Tim Gudgin.". Not so: others have done so too, but I can't give names, nor a reference. If you watch FS every week, as I try to, you'll soon find that it's usually Tim Gudgin, but he has occasional stand-ins - they are given away by being unable to get the proper inflection on results like "Arsenal nil - Chelsea, nil.". --Redrose64 (talk) 12:44, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another giveaway is by not being male, such as Gabby Logan (at least one saturday in December 2010). --Redrose64 (talk) 21:36, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pool v pools again

[edit]

"Pools", rather than "pool", is used throughout this article. I have moved it to "Football pools" accordingly. Scolaire (talk) 16:04, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
