Origin
[edit]How could Shakespeare have "invented" the name Miranda when it existed as a surname prior? He might have originated its use as a Christian name, but he clearly didn't completely invent it as a form of Mirandus. See the article for Juan Carreño de Miranda, born 1614 and son of another man of that name; clearly they didn't derive the "Miranda" from Shakespeare; nor evidently did the grammarian Giovanni Miranda, fl. 1566 (see his article). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.196.150 (talk) 22:37, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- Provide a citation for the additional material you would like to add. It’s use as a given name is said by references to have been invented by Shakespeare. Bookworm857158367 (talk) 19:47, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
