Brendan O'Donoghue (1942-2019) was a civil servant, a Director of the National Library of Ireland, and author. His career was long, influential, and revolutionized many aspects of his fields.
Earl Life and Family
[edit]Brendan O'Donoghue was born September 19th, 1942, to Liam[1], a teacher and local historian[2], and Mary O’Donoghue. Brendan was the eldest of five siblings growing up in Bandon, County Cork, Ireland[3]. Brendan attended St Augustine’s College as a boarding student in Dungarvan, County Waterford and then briefly attended the University College Dublin (UCD) before joining the civil service[1].
On October 15th, 1966, Brendan married Bernie, Bernadette, Aylward in St. Colmcille's Church, Swords, Co. Dublin[4] and moved into a home in Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland sometime in the 70s. Together they had a daughter Keelin[1] who after graduating from UCD would go on to become a professor and well accomplished gynecologist and researcher at University College Cork (UCC)[5].
